Thumper is releasing in May on Switch

I just watched the first 15 minutes of this game. Is it just me or were those 15 minutes rather boring? Every now and then you have to jump, slide or hold and the rest of the time it was just watching the bug riding the track. Music wasn't very exciting, too. Basically only some beats. Am I missing something? Can someone explain this to me? This is no hate or the like, I just don't get all the positive reactions in here about this game although I can imagine that it is very impressive in VR at least.

honestly i found the game pretty underwhelming, relative to hype, even in VR.

i mean it's a fine game with semi addictive gameplay... even kind of a steal at the price it's going for. but the gameplay loop gets old pretty quick

Excellent game, good catch by nintendo.

I wish I could justify the purchase of a PSVR, I still crave playing this one and ReZ infinite in VR.

One of the best games on PS4. Would have been incredible to play this on the go. Enjoy it guys, it's tons of fun.

Dammit, this is probably going to be the first of many Switch double dips for me. This game was pretty mind blowing in PSVR. Also, I thought I'd never beat it until I played it in VR. Got way easier after that. I can't remember why I played it outside of VR for a while...

Why is it easier in VR?

Only played the demo at a friend's which blew me away. It's actually the one game that sold me on VR, got my own set later. Still need to buy the full version.

One of my favourite games of 2016. Played it on pc and will pick it up again for Switch if there are no problems with framerate/performance. It's a delicious in-the-zone game.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Only heard great stuff about this game - looking forward to finally try it out.

I already own it on PS4 but might double dip for the portability.

Did they patch in a calibration option on PS4 yet? I feel like the game would be just a bit easier in VR due to the lower display lag. The Switch screen would have that advantage too with virtually 0 input lag.

Excellent game. It's oppressive. Feels like a Silent Hill Nightmare sequence crossed with Rock Band.

I have a hard time explaining it or even recognizing the technical reason, but I think there's a bit of a difference in input lag? I'm sure someone more clever on those details could explain it better. All I know is I had similar feelings regarding the difficulty of Thumper that I'm currently experiencing with Tumbleseed (this game is good but I'm never going to be able to beat it) until I tried it in VR. That's when I got in the zone.

I had this on my wish list for PS4, but I will 100% buy it for Switch. Switch has become my indie game platform, as I could just never find the time for games like this on my regular consoles.

Is the NA release date confirmed yet? May 18th sounds good to me. Gives me some time to finish off Kamiko and Graceful Explosion Machine before diving in. That'd also be a nice gap filler between now and ARMS in June for me!

That ... is actually a pretty good description.

Have fun Switch buyers, I loved the atmosphere but I found it to be a real challenge I couldn't surpass #whitestwhitemanalive

This is what I'm worried about. I could do Guitar Hero, but Amplitude was so hard for me.

Instead of normal hand eye coordination, you have additional spacial awareness. Seeing the walls crash towards you is dramatically more impactful in VR, wich makes it easier to see what is coming.

It's an input lag thing.

This might be comparable though if they calibrate it properly to the Switch's display

Ah okay thanks. I'll definitely get it on VR, but really cool that it's getting a Switch version as well.

I had to return my VR headset as it was making me feel terrible and didn't even want to put it on however before I did I played the Thumper demo in VR. It was amazing! And it didn't make me feel bad for some reason.

I'm still not quite sure how this game will work without VR though but if the price is right I'll probably pick it up.

I've been ignoring this game since I don't own a VR, but seems like people are loving it even without. So it's on my Steam Wishlist now!

Yeah, this made me aware that is on PS4 and VR compatible. Managed to get a code for $8. Game is amazing on VR! XD

I can't imagine enjoying this one without VR. But good news for those that wanted a portable version.

To the posts saying it looks boring..

The first two levels are pretty boring as they introduce you to the concepts.

Then the game gets fucking CRAZY.
