New Dunkirk trailer

Dynamite Shikoku

Congratulations, you really deserve it!
Hmm could be a good movie but doesn't really come across well in the trailer. I don't understand who the main character is or what exactly is going on

War film with PG-13 rating. I mean it still can be decent and Nolan gave pretty good answer when asked about it but still. War film with PG-13 rating will mean that I am not ''OMG'' hyped.

Getting the sense that this will be a tense, taut thriller. It's not gonna be a 3-hour war epic. Looking forward to it.

Some more controversial and argued than others, but among other things Lord Gort's one sided (and possibly before getting such orders- technically making it akin to desertion) decision to retreat to Dunkirk with BEF troops without informing his Belgian and French allies who would then unwittingly provide cover for the retreat?
Lord Gort was the British field commander, and assessed the military situation as hopeless, which was correct. He thus ordered a retreat to try to save his men from destruction.

I mean... Surely you do not fully buy the whole "Dunkirk Miracle was really a victory" war propaganda thing, right?
It kept Britain in the war by saving the core of the British army.

Churchill himself remarked "wars are not won by evacuation".

From juvenile gimmicky fantasy films to a serious war drama, obviously not all of his fans are going like it.

I like what I'm seeing, looks beautifully shot.

This trailer was somewhat better than the others but the whole.. drama of the movie seems a bit sterile.

I think you'd be surprised. He has a shit ton of fans. They'd probably see it regardless of the type of film.

Aren't most of his fans young women? I think that's the demographic least likely to be interested in this movie.

1D fans would shelve out money to see him in a six hour long Lars Von Trier film about ice melting.

This film will perform just fine.

We shall see, but I think this film will have an uphill battle especially given it's release date, and competition of films that does a better job appealing to that demographic that are also fans of Harry Styles.

The bright, calm, and colorful nature of the images don't seem to match the tone the story is going for. Guess that's one of the downsides of doing things old-school.

Really? To me it seems very much "this is a super serious historical drama" color grading.

see there's this war right...

actually, none of this is going to make sense because it's the second one

we need a movie about the military of every country involved before we can even THINK about doing WWII

sad to see warner bros. making the same mistake again by rushing things

Nothing you say contradicts what I said.

The "Miracle of Dunkirk" is both a myth and a piece of Propaganda which were probably necessary at the time.
It's probably time Now to have a bit of a clearer/ more critical view of it, unless it's just about perpetuating & repeating the romantic idea behind the propaganda piece.

I totally understand it would be hard for a UK English raised and taught person to do though.

Rescuing an entire army off the beach was a remarkable achievement, and facilitated Britain staying in the war. The British hyped it as a silver lining to a tragedy, which is what it was.
