Speculation: Crash Bandicoot N-Sane Trilogy is 1yr Console Exclusive (PS4)

I know it's pretty what happens to every thread now, but guys... why would there be a Switch version? Activision don't seem to be supporting the platform much at all from what I can see. I mean... I don't doubt this game will eventually get released on PC and maybe Xbone, but being so sure of third party releases for a Nintendo console seems like setting yourself up for disappointment. Remember the meltdowns over that collection of shitty Disney NES games not coming out on Switch? Can see more of that coming.

Also, that seems a weirdly specific thing for Bestbuy to have written there. How would they know the specifics of it's platform situation when no one else seems to?

Because platformers have a huge audience on nintendo platforms? Plus being portable would be more than enough to get people to buy it on the switch.

I'm going to get it on PS4 and if it really is timed exclusive and also will release on switch, I'm going to double dip for portable mode!

How long was the Wii version of goldeneye seen as an exclusive?

All humans interested in video games: a
All humans who own a PS4 and want to play Crash on PS4: b
All humans who care if it is or isn't: x

a - b = x

Well, as we can see from the Twitter conversation, this is an under approximation, as there are also some who have a PS4 and care about whether it is exclusive. Assuming instead of video games you mean Crash under a.

How do the developers have less credibility than Best Buy?

The developers (or the pr team) would not announce in a random Facebook message that the game is also getting a release elsewhere after the exclusive period.

Take the message for what it is, confirmation that as of right now and at launch, crash is a ps4 exclusive.

LOL at this point who cares. But do GAF really that vulnerable (naïve)? I mean a tweet from supposedly best buy description? come on.........

Edit: People so desperate....

Was that time PlayStation Ireland tweeted it was exclusive and then retracted the tweet already mentioned? That's the biggest indication to me that it isn't fully exclusive, apart from the fact that in announcing the game it was never touted as an exclusive, which I believe would have been done if it were exclusive.

I dont understand. Crash Bandicoot 1-3 was exclusive for PS1 back and never got released for N64 and Saturn. So why isnt it now exclusive. Its a Sony mascot.

Lol, let's just wait for official confirmation or a leak from a more reliable souce. This is reaching NX "leaks" levels of pathetic.

I imagine if the display was information was distributed by Sony they would have included the updated boxart. I would say this is as likely to be a mistake by the store clerk, than anything.

Generally speaking, best buy don't know details on a games exclusivity, one year in advance. If this were true, there isn't much incentive for Sony to give them this information.

It could be correct, though. The whole thing is a bit weird. I don't personally see why Sony would let Activision recreate Naughty Dogs Crash games, if they weren't getting something huge out of it, but perhaps Sony chose to negotiate something long term, rather than the exclusivity of an individual title.

As far as I see it, Sony do have the rights to restrict a recreation Naughty Dogs Crash Bandicoot games, as they are a 1:1 recreation of a game that was owned, funded and published by Sony. So while they don't own the IP, they do own the original games. That's always been the issue with getting Crash and Spyro on the store in PS1 classics too, as while they are published by Sony, Sony need to negotiate with the IP holder to sell them beyond the license period.

So if another company wanted to produce 1:1 replications of those games, then that can only happen if Sony also, wants that. And why would they want that, if it weren't going to be exclusive? Perhaps they scores a longer-term exclusivity deal instead, potentially, for multiple titles. Otherwise, I don't see any reason Sony would allow the replication of their (Naughty Dog's) work.

It is called fake(or PR mistake).

Ok, will have to just wait for E3
(2018)
then.

That's a lot more that I thought it would be(zero) given they didn't mention this at E3 or PSX I would think the deal was not finalised at that point as there is no way they wouldn't have mentioned it if this is legit.
1 year Console Exclusive would mean it is coming to PC during that year, maybe at the same time, maybe several months later. Otherwise they would just say 1 year exclusive.
Good call definitely seems that way.

I've always wondered about this too, I guess we'll see ultimately if this and maybe the Spyro HD remake comes out on the other platforms.

Oh hell yes, I needed my monthly "is Crash Bandicoot N-Sane Trilogy exclusive??" thread. Still, this image doesn't clear anything up, see you guys in June!

Cool. I'll buy it on Switch next year
If it even comes out for that system that is.

I hope it's true so more people get to experience it. This timed exclusivity isn't doing the customers any good.

Why is this an issue anyway? What's so bad about this being a multiplatform game?

lol

The ride never ends with this game, does it.

When did people get to now goldeneye on Wii was only timed exclusive? Before release or some time after?

Not exactly sure what you're saying. If you're asking when Activision's GoldenEye stopped being a Wii exclusive, the Reloaded port to 360 and PS3 came out roughly a year later.

Who cares if it is or isn't.

1.) People who want to buy this game, but don't have a PS4

2.) Sony/PS4 fanboys who believe this game should be exclusive to PS4 because:
a.) "Crash started on PS4! Going to other systems is wrong!"
b.) "Crash needs to stay exclusive. If Crash is exclusive more people will buy a PS4, and more developers will make PS4 games"

Feel free to check out previous Crash threads for examples like these ^, those threads were a shitshow.

A begging show isn't better than a shitshow.

Crash threads got ruined by the endless portbegging.

Yeah that was my question. Thank you

Honestly, I don't see a lot of demand for this game. I doubt anyone plans to buy a PS4 because of this timed exclusive.

Sony U.K. sent out a press ad claiming it was exclusive

If this small affair really bothers people with a Switch, they ain't gonna exactly be happy in the future.

I don't think it really bothers anyone.

If it's available, I'll buy it and play it.

If it's not available, it basically doesn't exist to me, like any other game appearing on a platform I don't own. No reason to get upset, I'll just play something else.

My guess is that it will be forever exclusive in some countries (most likely EU and JP) and 1 year exclusive in the US.
Now before everyone starts getting on my throat I got nothing to back this up.

The whole situation with this game hasn't been helped by no clarification at first and was mostly people assuming and inferring what was going on by what was being said/stated. Also, there has been contradictory statements for this ever since it's been announced.

In general, the more platforms and people that get to play a game, the better in my opinion. If it's PS4 exclusive, it's PS4 exclusive.

Doesn't sony have some minor right to the original trilogy? Did they retain any level of publishing rights?
Activions owns everything about Crash including the OG games (I think). But Sony has publishing rights for the OG games. Vicarious built the game from the ground up BUT used ND's original level geometry to rebuild the gameplay from scratch. So basically this where the line is drawned between Sony and Activision, otherwise it would be 100% an Activision product.

What an oddly specific subtitle... I'd be happy if it was true, but I'm tired of this back and forth. If it hits PC in a year or so, I'll grab it day one. If it doesn't, I'll pick it up on PS4 whenever I finally own one.

Who cares if it is or isn't.
People who don't want to buy a console just to play one game?

I wish they'd start using the final boxart already:
