First footage of Oceanhorn 2

Yoshichan

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
Woah.

Did not expect this kind of graphical change.

Can't watch the video yet, is it still Uematsu?

After Breath of the Wild, this looks so bad. I don't mean on a graphical scale:

-Floaty walking
-Floaty jumping
-Attack animation is not snappy
-Climbing animation is like floating on a wall

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Looks good for what it is...but they probably should have released this prior to BotW - the difference is just to huge to ignore at this point. They will probably spend the rest of the dev time trying to include as much from BotW as possible...but yeah this might take a while.

Edit:

And thats on an iPhone 7 - this will be tough on phones - will wait for the console/PC adaptation if i ever give this a shot.

Couldn't stomach it. Immidiatly the way the text appears and that damned horrid typewriter noise put me off and then the wooden way the characters move like an old school MMORPG.

Shame because it looked initially promising.

The animation kills any charm this could have had. Hope they take some time to hire someone capable before release. They're more important than the visuals themselves imo

I actually enjoyed the first one despite its lack of originality. Well, up until the goddamn showroom puzzle.

Looks stiff, but I'll give it a shot on PC.

Thats the polish that makes AAA console games have these ridiculous budgets - for the first Oceanhorn it was fine since they followed the simpler 2D Zelda Blueprint...but for this one - lets say there is a reason why there arent that many 3D Zelda clones.

I would have prefered a more defined look...hell something ala Wind Waker would have been great - this just looks like BotW in bad....while the first game looked really good.

I'm sure the Zelda fans will ruin this thread too. Like they always do. Anyway, this looks so different from the original perspective. Animations needs more work, but this game is likely more than a year away so I'm counting on it being improved. This reminds me more of fable to be honest.

I'll be picking up the first one on switch as soon as it releases. Loved it on iOS.

Ugly UI, stiff animations, gameplay you could call serviceable I guess?

It figures that these devs would try to do store brand BoTW after doing store brand Wind Waker.

everything is too slow. like the character is moving through molasses.

this is why you do not prioritize visuals over gameplay.

It looks much better than the first, but still has some ways to go. But I hope they keep finding success, at that pace in a few entries this will be awesome.

Visuals are on point but the UI is a bit generic rn and animations lack weight.

Will follow and see if they improve it.

Not bad, but yeah the really stiff and slow animation definitely needs to be worked on, which hey, it probably still quite away till planned release.

people thinking games being shown now are being inspired by a game that released barely 2 months ago are hilarious.

BotW was shown nearly a year ago at e3 - we have had hours of gameplay footage from that show alone. Naive to think they would ignore BotW footage and impressions.

It's Skyward Sword inspired

Yeah I realized that after watching more. It's more SS inspired with a little BotW still in there though.

That was on my first look at the footage then I saw more of a Skyward Sword angle. Not like there is no BotW influence to it. Also BotW was shown in gameplay form over a year ago.

PS: Also I never said any of these games play like Zelda games, I was just saying what elements I saw in them (like the first game having that boat and again in 2.)

Graphically would be fine, but animations are terrible for now and about all seems lifeless, especially after BOTW.

I'm fine with games inspired by Zelda, but this looks like it wants to be a carbon copy to the point where you might as well just play the real thing.
