Trails in the Sky the 3rd |OT| Time's the Charm

Argh, how to open Star Door 14? I've opened all the previous doors, only Star Door 15 is not opened (it's in the last chapter, point of no return etc). I've seen both parts of Sun Door 1, only did normal and hard in the tournament and played the minigames on the easiest difficulty only. This should be enough, right? The grail diary says I've not finished Sun Door 3 (Tournament) because I'm missing a requirement for after the hard level.Aargh.

14 requires all doors, including 15. 15 is not past the point of no return.

If you're in chapter 8, take the waypoint to plane 7 and go all the way to the bottom for door 15. Just be prepared to have the same reaction as everyone else in this thread who has seen the door.

I thought the same thing at first. You have to talk to
the ghost chick next to the monument
to open up
the abyss
where door 15 is.

That third guardian, what a beast. Can't believe I managed that on my first try.

Lol at Richard's "that was easy" line though.

Star Door 5 was nice, but there is one thing that bugs me about it.
Richard comes as a nice but misguided guy here, but wasn't he just power hungry with that coup d'etat of his or could it be I forgot something about his motivations in SC?

He felt that Liberl would become weak/exposed to trouble w/o Cassius so he seeked more power

He thought that the Liberl government is too soft without Cassius (AKA strong military force) and it'd only be a matter of time before Erebonia or Calvard lap the country up, so he's taking the matter into his own hands for the sake of a strong Liberl.

but as far as I remember he already taken control over the army, with generals locked and royal guard on the run, but he still went for the queen, not a nice guy.

He didn't "went for" the queen. He already had the queen under his protection and was attempting to persuade an official support out of her for the sake of a clean continuation of the government. I mean, if he just left the queen alone or chased her away, the citizen would be splintered and there would be riots and anarchy on the streets.

I feel like I must be mis-remembering this, since 3rd never mentions it and treats him as fully accountable for his actions, but I thought SC mentioned that he was being controlled by Weissman.

The coup was his own thing, Weissman's "control" was just a suggestion planted on his mind so he'd think he needed to release the what turned out to be the first seal of the aureole I think

Man, after using the speedhack it's impossible to go back. Trying the game at normal speed after several hours of playing at 1.6 it really hits you how slow the battles are. It doesn't feel sped up at all, it feels like how the game should run normally.
Wish I knew about this for the previous games.

It's not a spoiler, but Leonhardt under the guise of Lorence informed Richard about it.

They used Richard's and Cassius' weakness to steer the country. The coup d'etat was just the cover for the society. Although obviously the church got wind of this and send Kevin to dispose of Weissman for good.

I don't remember this. Are you sure?

edited: well you say you aren't, I just don't see how that is even possible.

I don't think there's anything about straight up controlling but...

Not sure this really needs spoiling but FC dialogue:
Estelle: Yeah, I guess you're right. And it doesn't sound like Colonel Richard's memory can be trusted.
Cassius: Yes... Just like Kurt, he seems to have some missing memories.

Cassius: [Lorence] gave it to Richard shortly after he was recruited for the Intelligence Division. And 'coincidentally,' that would be just about the same time Richard planned his coup...

Got the impression from this and other SC lines that Richard was definitely nudged into it at that exact time but it wasn't something he wasn't already thinking about- hence the guilt.

Yeah, I remember it that way as well. Got the same impression.

To elaborate further on Richard:
during her meeting with Estelle and Joshua, the queen mentions that Richard and the Intelligence Division want Duke Dunan to take the throne because they feel Erebonia might invade Liberl if Klaudia becomes queen, as having a young woman on the throne would be a sign of weakness or whatever.

We also know that Weissman was involved because, as Joshua points out before the final battle, Richard doesn't know HOW and WHERE he learned about the Auréole and the seal under Grancel.

Star Door 15

What. the. fuck.
No seriously, what. the fuck! And here I though Kevins backstory was bad, but this was actually physically sickening.
Like, I'll probably stop here until the weekend, I need some time to process this.
And now I really want Zero and Ao. Good job Falcom/Xseed.

Only played the former but I don't think it's quite at either
I actually had to stop playing that game for a bit at part of it, not here (although tbf the stuff here is probably shorter so it's easier to get through)

There is a way to quickly farm those 400 hundred battles? I'm in Chapter 8 but I need around 180 battles before I can open this door...

Don't think there's anything other than getting lots of low level mobs
I was actually pretty close even avoiding a lot of mobs by then tho

It also seems you need to win 400 so no running either

Maybe use the cheatengine speedhack to make the grind more bearable

I beat the game today!

It was more enjoyable overall than SC. But I still love FC the most.

Looking forward to playing Zero and Ao someday.

I was like 100 or 200 fights above the target when I got to that door, lol.
Speedhack made fighting fast and funner.

Random question: wasn't Kloe's name supposed to be invented by Jill according to FC? Random Moon Door spoilers:
She uses it before she even knows who Jill is when introducing herself to her schoolmates.

I'm pretty sure that's not the case
she entered academy and the world under that name before even knowing Jill

I don't remember where it's mentioned, but I recall it being
Julia who invented this name.

speaking of schera, about the ending of 3rd :

i always thought that schera and olivier would make a good couple.... and the ending seems to hints that olivier asker her about that.... hope it will be answered in one game

I'll have to repeat Moon Door 2, I missed at least one chest and I so regret it now, I didn't expect it to be quite this long.

now that makes sense, although I don't remember this either

Again, probably pointless FC spoiler tags:
Kloe: I'm sorry that I couldn't tell you...
Estelle: Uhh...but why? Why would the princess be hiding out in an ordinary school...?! And why did you have us call you [Kloe]...?
Kloe: I'd like for you to keep calling me that. My real name is Klaudia von Auslese...
Kloe: Kloe is a pet name that Jill came up with using bits from my whole name.

This is from a random LP that I found by searching, though, so it might have been record wrong. Could've sworn I remembered the same thing, though.

Really digging the stuff about Kevin I've seen so far, very interesting character.
No Estelle yet :( I was kinda expecting she wouldn't be among the first to join the party but this is taking way too long!

I went to check and you're absolutely right. I was sure that last line said Julia instead of Jill but I remembered wrong. My bad.

During chapter 6 with the visit to the
Aster House
, I kind of wish I had brought Estelle and Joshua. I brought Olivier and Mueller, so I did get some funny dialogue out of it, but it wasn't exactly a scene for laughs...

(I made it a point to bring Olivier and Mueller with me whenever possible, for great results)

Hopefully people upload more of their playthroughs to Youtube so I can check the different dialogue during major parts of the game.

Trying to decide if I want to buy the whole 3rd sound track on itunes. I bought fc and sc but was a bit disappointed by the repeated tracks.
