GWENT closed beta now underway

Those were good matches, I thought the grave hag would have been enough.

I'm somewhat sad the community players all got wrecked, but I assume either Lifecoach or noxious winning will help bring a lot of Hearthstone players over to Gwent.

Climbed back to around 550 on the leaderboard. Should be enough for top 1000 rewards. Once they are announced I might try to play ranked to push for top 500 if there are any higher rewards for that. But only like last minute so I won't drop out of top 1000 lol. Happy to be done with the anxiety about dropping out. Please let season end soon.

Open Beta in one week!

https://www.playgwent.com/en/news

Scheduled to begin May 24th, Public Beta will be available for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

”Public Beta is the next step in the game's development process, one that we'd be honored to continue alongside everyone who's been with us thus far," said Benjamin Lee, Development Director at CD PROJEKT RED. ”It's also a chance for many new gamers to play GWENT for the first time and we're looking forward to making the game even better with their help," added Lee.

Watch the Public Beta overview live on the official CD PROJEKT RED Twitch channel
The stream will begin today (May 17th) at 9PM CEST

GWENT's Public Beta is a fresh start for everyone. Card collections and player progress will reset to ensure gamers begin on equal footing. Everyone who participated in the Closed Beta will receive Card Kegs, as well as other in-game rewards for their activity. Additional information regarding Closed Beta participation rewards is available here.

The switch from Closed to Public Beta will entail a short technical transition period starting May 22nd. Until the start of Public Beta on May 24th, game servers will be offline for maintenance. During this time, GWENT's Facebook and Twitter channels will provide updates on the game's status.

More information about Public Beta, as well as GWENT in general, is available in the FAQ section of playgwent.com.

Only few days left because looks like servers go down on 22nd. Can't believe this ranked season is finally ending! Thank fuck.

I didn't see it anywhere but are there any rewards for participating in PS4 technical beta? :(

Very unlikely.

Edit: Jesus christ this looks amazing. Fully voiced tutorial by Geralt/Ciri, challenges to earn leader avatars, UNSEEN ELDER!

Does everything reset after open beta as well.

If true I'll just jump in when it's finally done.

The closed to open reset should be the only one as far as I'm aware.

On a slightly different note, I built a new PC a couple weeks ago and went back to the Witcher 3 since I hadn't yet done the expansions. Witcher 3 Gwent is actually kind of awful now by comparison. There is basically no combos or strategy outside of abusing spies for card advantage.

The removal of faction abilities is interesting. I both agree and disagree with it. Scoia's ability in particular was ridiculous.

A lot of changes announced already, I can not wait to see them in action in a few days. No matter the outcome, I like CDPR mentality. They do not hesitate to make significant changes and I think it is commendable. I feel like game companies are usually more conservative.

I'm just hoping the game gets a little more notoriety. I've talked to a few people on my friends list on Blizzard app who play HS about it. All of them were interested in it but none of them had even heard of it.

Didn't get to watch the stream, but reading threads through reddit kinda scares me. Too many large scale changes that I don't know how to evaluate them at the same time in the context of a game I already know and like.

Did they mention what the ladder rewards are? I guess I should spend some time grinding to get a better reward but I'd be more incentivized if it's actually something I want.

CDPR are such over achievers. They literally could have ported Witcher 3 Gwent and people would have been (mostly) happy. These changes are insane, and in many ways make Hearthstone look bad.

Nah, Witcher 3 Gwent was very much "Spam spies and win". There's no way people would have stuck around playing that for very long. That said though, there's no doubt that doing all the single player stuff etc was very much above and beyond what people expected.

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
Much easier than grinding MMR in Dota Haly. :) It's been a while since I was actively playing this game, but if you need help/advice feel free to hit me up. I'm waxinlyrical on GoG too.

I can't beat all these legendary and epic cards with my budget consume deck

to buy kegs! You'll get to reopen them again next week anyway.

It's been a while since I had to worry about cards for decks, but I think warcry Skellige is still pretty effective without any legendaries. (Wild Boar, Birna, Ermion etc are fine).

I think I'm going to wait for open beta before dropping cash. I like the game as it is now but in the recent Gwent stream previewing whats ahead it looks like they're changing a lot of core mechanics.
