PS4 Pro Portable, Scorpio Portable and Switch Mini. The new generation!

I find it weird, but I guess Yoshida surely got convinced by Iwata words on NX about being a line of various products, so they don't want the "PlayStation 4" brand to die anytime soon.

So how many bundles are we talking about? 10 in the entire country? Nintendo needs to take care of these stock issues asap.

Could a "PS4 Portable" work, in theory, if Sony required devs to downport existing/new PS4 games to a new binary to work with new, portable architecture?
That's exactly what Vita was top the PS3 - and you have all of the reasons why that didn't work right there (developer and software wise - not even pointing at the sales here).

boiled goose

good with gravy
so why they just shipped 25k when usually they shipped 40k ?

those shortages are fake, same as happened with famicom mini
real shortages were during DSL time, the more nintendo shipped the more they sold; now they just make "fixed" shipments to keep the hype among the consumer cause the line-up is so modest that without those "shortages" the hype would have been already vanished

Sell less.
???
Profit.

Famitsu retail + digital, combined rereleases

Yakuza 6: The Song of Life - 361.074
Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below - 360.698
NieR: Automata - 338.664
Resident Evil 7: biohazard - 338.324
Battlefield 1 - 336.612
Bloodborne - 314.765
Dragon Quest Heroes II: The Twin Kings and Prophecy's End - 314.200

RE7 must've sold some 10k or so since it dissapeared from the charts months ago, but nonetheless its not like Nier will have problems outselling it.

Nier is the 11th best selling game on PS4.

Jim Sterling made a video about nintendo doing exactly that for their products. But I dont think they would do it for a console.

At least for me it makes no sense.

Most sales were expected but as with everyone else I'm surprised so little switch were shipped. Maybe it's because of the increase shipments with MK8D or the units they flew to NA. I can't believe that sort of tiny shipment will now be the norm.

Expecting shipments to go back up in the next couple of weeks. They need to get their act together by splatoon release.

You do realise the console is sold out in most major markets? They are struggling to ship adequate numbers evenly throughout the World.

Anyone who thinks Nintendo are stopping people from dropping the best part of $500 on their console, a couple of games and some accessories are absolutely delusional.

The claim is all the more silly because 40K is not so different from 25K in absolute terms. It's unclear how a temporary ~15K decline in shipments would drive fake hype, a mechanism that doesn't even make sense in the first place.

That was not true at all with Wii U because we got a negative shipments in one quarter that pretty sure means retail returning units to Nintendo warehouses.

That was the first time I saw this happen since Wii gen.

Context!

Those returns from Europe happened right after the launch of the Wii U after the holidays were over.

Nintendo ended up producing a lot of Wii U units for the following FY because Iwata didn't want to worry investors. They ended up producing 12 million Wii U units which spent the majority of their time in inventory for the Wii U's lifespan so the only time before that did you see returns because they had the space to take back units.

They couldn't do that again once their inventory filled up with 12 million Wii U units.

Splatoon 2 pre-orders not open yet at online stores. Don't think they will be open today... Rakuten and Amazon gonna collapse.

EDIT: According to Sofmap, from 11am they will be accepting reservations. I think, online stores as well. So, in less than 50 minutes we should see lines at stores.

Nier is honestly showing very good legs. I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up selling more than Yakuza 6 at this point.

You know why they call it 'ramping up production'? Because you cannot instantly double output. You add bandwidth which accelerates output, until you reach your desired velocity.

We're two months in. It's like you expect a Ferrari to have reached 200mph when the accelerator only hit the floor one second ago.
Never mind that people compare their production output to that of electronics giants and multi-billion dollar companies who can bid higher on a production line, funnel money to start them up faster and aren't scared to flood the channel.

People are paying for the game in the bundle (more for it actually no?)

According to Rakuten, the bundle comes with three stickers, so that's why the overprice!
・オリジナルステッカー:3枚

Joking aside, I guess Nintendo awares Switch demand and tries to get every money they could with this scarcity, more if it's Splatoon we're talking about.
