Great presentation with a lack of content again will mean this game gets shit on at a level we have never seen before. Think of the hate for D1 and then multiply that by 10.

Don't forget that Destiny 1 was remade on the last moment because some guy at Bungie felt the need to take all his work with him. Thus resulting in a massive cut on the story.

Yea, Destiny 1 had a pretty troublesome development.

Let's hope Bungie learned their lesson

Most Bungie games have troubles development cycles.

Nothing (NOTHING!) will ever beat the feeling of beating the Vault for the very first time.

Nah I was late on that and by then people had it down to a science.

Beating Oryx the first weekend was fucking magic. I screamed so loud that I started to hear dogs barking in apartments upstairs and my roommate had to come check on me to make sure I was okay.

I forgot who on GAF i did it with but it was great.

just imagine what first kills of MMO bosses with 40 people on voice chat felt like

I mean, I've been raiding in MMOs for a very long time, sure Destiny isn't quite on that level. But I think it's really cool that the raiding experience has been brought to people who normally would never ever see that kind of thing. And really, the feeling of downing something you've worked on for weeks isn't that different from 40 to 25 to 10.

I wasn't around for VoG early days but I killed normal/hard Oryx before most people so I have a frame of reference, at least. Only took a day of learning or so but that MMO first boss kill feeling was still there.

Stopped reading after this. They called this app a Blizzard App for a reason lol.

yeah I didn't even look at the rest of the post. Do people not keep up with this stuff? It's not even battle.net anymore.

30 years ago today, the PNW was shook by the eruption of Mt. Saint Helens.
Today, Bungie will shock the world with the Destiny 2 gameplay reveal!!!
Who's ready?!
I was born ready!!

Nah, no bullshit here. Sparrows are needed to get around on planets. The areas are going to be very large.

Not letting players use it until after the campaign, even though they can go down to the planets and explore, is limiting.

Sorry Zeo, but Glam's right. It is bullshit.

You have zero idea what the first 15 hours entail, so you have no context for your complaint.

There's a reason why Destiny 2 is not up for pre-order on Steam. It's clearly on either Bungie's own launcher or Blizzard's. There are already a ton of Blizzard launcher users so having Destiny 2 on there makes a ton of sense for Activision IMO.

hear what stuff? the stuff you yourself say?

I'm not sure what you're getting at. I think everyone knows the insane amount of hate Destiny got at release. Me mentioning that that concept exists is not the same as me saying those things.

Personally yes if these leaks are the extent of Destiny 2 I will be disappointed but what I'm saying is not even close to the vitriol that will come out from the people that lined up to hate Destiny last time. After the hate train on Mass Effect and other games recently it seems that people are always looking for the next game to hate and I don't want that to be Destiny 2.

There was nothing wrong with the first one when it came to the shooting mechanics and A.I. of enemies. Controls were fine as well. Bungie nailed all of that quite nicely. For me where it went downhill was the insane repetition of the game, which happened way too soon. I know tons of people still enjoy the game and don't mind replaying missions all the time but I sure do. Hope they bring a much needed improvement there.

Hold on Glam ...

What about ...

- Getting your first Exotic?
- Finishing that Y1 Vanilla Nightfall the first time?
- Geting the Gjallarhorn?
- Getting the Icebreaker?
- Beating VoG?
- Getting Flawless Raider?
- Beating Crota?
- Clutching a win?

All those feelings ...

I wonder how Bungie feels, about to start the final preparations before the stream and having details leaked in the last hours. If they're real, that is. Must suck when you'be been able to keep the lid on for so long.

you said vanilla destiny had a lack of content up on this same page, which is not true, and something people like to rage about.

anyways, you're just concern trolling

Yeah. I got my first exotic from a legendary engram. Light Beyond Nemesis.

I feel there might be smaller raid like encounters within the game now, somewhere between strikes and a full fledged raid needing a fireteam,

I'm absolutely not. Like I said I have continued to play Destiny for years and bought every DLC. Destiny 2 is my most anticipated game this entire year. Do you really believe that a lack of content was not a problem in Destiny year one? It's literally the main criticism of the game what was there was great yeah but everybody wanted much more and to pretend that wasn't the case is disingenuous.

All I'm saying is that I hope these leaks aren't true I personally believe they aren't but I just can't imagine the majority being really happy if they are.

You need to play a raid, at least one. Trust me. There are like Destiny Dads and things like that. People are nice.

I'm in the same boat as that dude, no time to play long multiplayer sessions due to a two year old and an infant.

I'll definitely check out Destiny Dads, though. Cool that they made a group like that.

Yeah. I'm no dad but I hear good things. I play with people who have small kids though. It's all good, even if they suddenly rush of in the middle of a raid. :)

I mean the majority of my PC gaming friends are actually Blizzard-only. Blizzard having their own launcher didn't get the shitstorm that Origin did because a lot of their fans only play their games...and Blizzard is very good at keeping you in their 'ecosystem'. There's this assumption on GAF that PC gaming = Steam but that's very much not been my own experience. There's this whole section of PC gaming that got drawn in by Diablo 2, Starcraft and Warcraft 3 and never really went past Blizzard games.

But unless Blizzard is actually involved in Destiny 2, it would make no sense to re-brand their launcher so soon before adding a non-Blizzard game to it. While I'd actually like to see more Blizzard influence in Destiny 2 - they solved many of Destiny's problems like raid LFG tools in WoW years ago - I can't see a situation where they collaborate to that degree.

I always did think it was funny how Halo players called bungie.net 'bnet' when that's what people called battle.net, though.

I'm excited for D2 beta/full release, the stream is ehh. I'm hoping it meets everyone's high expectations, and has the information folks are clamoring for. I'm gonna lower my expectations on what details they are gonna unveil.

Lack of content and rng bullshit will kill my hype. I hope every God damn reviewer/previewer goes ham on complaints people had with vanilla destiny.

My understanding is they got better with patches and expansions, but that's one game after many years I need to see what the new game is like

the fact that everybody wanted more doesn't mean there was a lack of content. it's amazing that a game with as much to do as d1 can get criticized for this while universally praised games like uncharted get away with 20 hour campaigns and tacked on multiplayer. if people don't like the idea of destiny's gameplay loop, then that's fine, but that's an argument about quality, not quantity. if you loved destiny and played enough to where you were running out of things to do, then i have a hard time believing you didn't get $60 worth of entertainment out of it.

and i don't doubt that you played and loved destiny. many of the most hardcore players are the loudest complainers around. so many people just can't accept that something they love doesn't have to be perfect.

I think that's a huge possibility. :)

It'd be very, very smart of them to call upon the expertise of Blizzard for things like that.

Yep. Was with a GAF Hawkian group quite soon after release. Took around 4 hours. We were 10 minutes from calling it a night, then we got him. Raved to my friends about it and then took them all through it a few weeks later.

I'd never raided in a game before, was something special.

huh so all that talk about the vault or whatever it is called made me realise I never played it, we finished everything up and got bored before the new content even arrived. after that we never got full band together to try this thing. is there still no way to play with randoms in destiny?
