Switch 1st year is killing my wallet

I've certainly spent a lot on the Switch plus accessories, and I've purchased many more games for it in addition to the ones you have listed...

But I think I've still spent more on PS4 games this year. It's not like there's a packed line-up for Switch.

I've spent around $500. I only have Zelda so far. I might get Mario Kart. Next game for sure is Disgaea 5. I was going to buy neon Joy cons but they are $100. Fuck that.

I have no desire to get a bunch of filler games.

Truly no console launch has ever had half a dozen games and extra controllers available before. What a time to be alive.

Wish I was into that stuff. I rebought BTOW for it and a friend shipped me a copy of Mk8, tried Shovel Knight but couldn't get into it. It's basically a dust collector until Oddyssey hits.

But glad you're enjoying the software

I don't get how anyone can get a Switch while knowing all the stuff that hits before Odyssey isn't for you. If i wasn't interested in ARMS, Splatoon and all these stellar indies I wouldn't have gotten one, even if Zelda was my most anticipated game.

I have no desire to get a bunch of filler games.

Indie = filler? lmao

I haven't bought much yet, but there's a good bit I want. Just waiting to see what's suppose to come later this year before I decide what to buy. For now only the absolute must haves. I am surprised how many titles I'm interested in.

I think I've made a mistake with my thread title. I'm not complaining. I just can't remember another Nintendo launch with so many games appealing to me.

Gamecube?

Luigi's Mansion
Super Monkey Ball
Wave Race: Blue Storm
All-Star Baseball 2002
Batman Vengeance
Crazy Taxi
Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2
Disney's Tarzan: Untamed
Madden NFL 2002
NHL Hitz 20-02
Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3
FIFA Soccer 2002
Extreme-G 3
Super Smash Bros. Melee
SSX Tricky
Pikmin
NFL Quarterback Club 2002
The Simpsons: Road Rage
Universal Studios Theme Parks Adventure

All in 2 months

Why would you pay out the ass for a 5 year old indie game that can be played on a PC developed in the last decade?

the inital burst hurt my wallet...

console, memcard, screen protector, carry case, extra controller, 1 game.

but since then... i havent bought anything and the rest of the year looks like a cake walk from my perspective.

which is totally fine because i have a ton of ps4 games to catch up on and that are coming out that interest me more than switch's yr 1 release calendar.

nop. im from germany
the land of cheap console sales where you can get a ps4 for 179€ or xbox one s for 159€ if you have a friend with 200k gamescore ;)
the wii u (the expensive sku with the controller) was also extremely cheap here at 129€ 2 years ago

Don't base your expectations of Nintendo pricing on the WiiU.,

Games I already played? Yah.

It got ridiculed a lot at first but people will look back at the Switch's first year and say it was pretty damn good just from First Party alone.

Zelda
Mario Kart
Arms
Splatoon
Mario
Xenoblade (probably not in 2017 but maybe before the launch anniversary)

Don't worry, OP. Plenty of people will chime in to crap on you and the Switch and what you bought, but.... they'll come around. Until then, our wallets suffer.... together.

I feel like there's a major time-spent-gaming gap that affects discussions on what counts as a packed lineup or a drought. I haven't touched three of my four switch games because all my gaming time has been eaten up by botw since March.

This is how I feel too. I bought Zelda but wasn't captured like everybody else. Until Splatoon 2 or Odyssey, I probably won't buy too much for it. Persona and Horizon have my attention ATM.

I've been able to hold back on buying too much but if it weren't for self control I'd probably be suffering too. I already have Zelda, MK8D, Disgaea 5, and Bomberman.

Just barely held back on getting Puyo, Spelunker, and a bunch of eShop games.

I want to play a lot of games on Switch but I'll wait for sales. Having one big Nintendo game per month is expensive enough for me. And having the option of buying those indie games for super cheap on PC makes me want to wait for a sale even more.

Currygan

at last, for christ's sake
I dont have the money to buy all the switch games I'd want, that's for sure. Disgaea 5, ARMS and Splatoon 2 in two months, already preordered, dropped Lego City because no money, didnt even buy a single eshop game for the same reason. Feels already damn better than the WiiU, definitely

If I waited for Nintendo to have (decent) sales I sure as hell wouldn't play much.

Launch period is always a struggle. You drop close to $500 on the console and accessories. Then you're a bit more open to try different games. So you buy more of those than you were expecting, well, because it's a new console and there's only a couple franchises you know and love there at launch. Before you know it, you missing a huge chunk of your pay check.

I wish I was as enthusiastic as OP, but my wallet has never been more safe.

Love my Switch (detachable joycon play is fucking amazing), but only have 4 games.

Most games already out or coming out for this console don't interest me. I'm waiting for the big titles, like Mario and Splatoon.

I find myself loading up the eshop every day, hoping, praying, that something will grab my attention. But that's usually not the case. I do love street fighter, but I don't consider that game to be worth £35 - its a joke. And I think that's the problem. I'd probably buy a lot more games that I usually never would, but the prices stop me from being so adventurous.

I was sorta hoping for the virtual console by now (not neogeo, I am talking about past Nintendo titles here), or a browser/netflix/youtube/SOMETHING by this point. It's a struggle right now.

This is why I laugh whenever someone makes a thread asking where all the switch games are. There are too many this year for me to keep up with. I'm just hoping I can finish my backlog before xenoblade chronicles 2 comes out later this year. #believe #notpersona5

Hmm... I think the line up is terribly underwhelming. Vast majority of indies I have elsewhere, Zelda is really the only outstanding title beside MK I guess, but kids weren't interested in the WiiU version and I certainly am not.

So for me I am going to wait till next year when hopefully 3rd parties from Vita and 3DS will start pumping games out. This year beside Zelda and then Mario/Xenoblade there is nothing of one likes SP games.

Mostly the opposite with me. Bought a switch for zelda and that's about it. No interest on any of those other games, never been a MK fan, arms is maybe a rental. I'll get splatoon.

I haven't touched the switch in over a month, feel like Wii U all over again. Which is fine I buy Nintendo consoles just to play the few Nintendo exclusives every year. I own everything but a One, I have a pc for those games, and over 300 games on backlog so I need to be picky with what I play.

I'm the same.... got my Switch, Snipperclips/Joy-Con bundle, Zelda (phys.) and MK8 (phys.) with ARMS and Splatoon 2 preordered....then I want the yellow joy-cons and the pink/green ones too...getting pretty pricey!

ItsTheNew

I believe any game made before 1997 is "essentially cave man art."
And I'm over here letting mine collect dust since all these weak little titles are too expensive. Odyssey will probably be my next game purchase.

That's nice, op, meanwhile I'm hungry for games I want to play on it with eshop credit burning a hole in my digital wallet.

Mkay? I mean this is pretty much any gaming device launch ever...

3DS 1st year is killing my wallet

Xbox 360 1st year is killing my wallet

PS4 1st year is killing my wallet

Etc

I'm on the opposite side. I have a PS4 and a Vita, and I already have most of the multiplat games. Disgaea 5, Puyo Pop Tetris, Fate/extella, Minecraft (Vita)...

ARMS and Splatoon 2 are mostly multiplayer games which I don't have even a tiny amount of interest in. I hated Splatoon on Wii U honestly.

My first year buy list for Switch looks like this:

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (already got)
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2
Steep
Skyrim
Fire Emblem Musou
Mario Odyssey
Xenoblade 2

That's it. Every single game is coming out in fall. I have nothing but Mario Kart 8 and I really don't want to play it as I have already played countless of hours on Wii U. I love my Switch and I want games for it asap. It's gathering dust right now and I'm not happy about it. Do you hear me third parties? Make games for this amazing system! Pretty please?

PS3 killed the wallet with the price of the hardware alone. It didn't need games to kill your wallet.
