Confessions That Destroy Your Gamer Credibility

Damn, brah, just carry around one of those fancy graphic charts from 2005 or w/e

This post just gave me flashbacks of playing Blm back in the day with a chart like this printed out next to my screen.

I don't think it's particularly weird if you only played a mage lol.

lol. I remember trying to use that chart and giving up. I played a Monk/Dancer the whole game. I soloed most of the game with ilvl gear, and duoed everything else (usually with much more skilled players).

I've never:

- Played an Xbox console
- Played Halo
- Played any Xbox exclusives actually.
- Played Metroid games
- Played any of the Mass Effect games.

I could go on for a while.

I stopped gaming for the entire PlayStation/N64/Saturn era. I was completely turned off by 3D games and decided rap albums and magazines were more deserving of my hard-earned teenage dollars. The only game that I've beaten from that generation is Symphony of the Night (which I did in 2009).

I couldn't finish The Last of Us cause I got too scared/frustrated early on.

But I've also beaten SOMA and Amnesia...so maybe I should try revisiting it.

If you found it scary early in the game, you wouldn't have made it past one particular point later on. Only that part got to me and I had to pause the game. Too spoopy, but I got through.

List of things I've broken playing FIFA:

- Multiple controllers
- remote controls
- sound bar
- cracked a TV screen

Illness is the doctor to whom we pay most heed; to kindness, to knowledge, we make promise only; pain we obey.
My two favourite Final Fantasy-games are XII and XIII, in that order.

I'm in a similar boat.

I quit each of the Souls games after a few hours.

I lasted about 20 hours in Bloodborne before giving up.

Am about 45 hours into Nioh and loving it

I've been playing only Nioh for the last 2-3 weeks, felt like a crack addict. The underlying historical setting clicked with me, but so did the Lovecraftian ambient of Bloodborne. It was just a slog of a gameplay and a frustrating experience.

Anyway, I still hate the "ambush level design" of these games. It breaks a lot of the immersion for me seeing a guy/monster in a hole on the ground or a wall doing nothing but waiting for you to pass to get activated. It's just cheesy and lazy.

I have not completed a Zelda game released after Link to the Past.

I have likely spent more combined hours in Diablo 2 and WoW than all other games combined. My paladin alone has logged more than four months of my life.

I play uncharted games on the easiest difficulty because I have no interest in the challenge it provides. Just wanna see dem graphics

I've played games since preschool. I love board/tabletop/video games and staunchly refuse to call mysefl a "gamer"

I just never have ever felt like I needed to identify myself almost entirely based off my hobbies. Also idk it has such gross connotations to some that I'd rather just not.

Easy mode for every game I've ever played. Not even sure at this point whether I enjoy playing or watching games more now.

Sometimes I play on easy mode because I just don't care for the challenge anymore.

I'm a huge Zelda fan. Beat almost all of them. But I never beat Ocarina, and I never will.

Any one of these opinions by them self destroys my gaming credibility. All together, they just make me an amalgamation of cynicism and sadness.

- I don't care about the 30vs60FPS argument. As long as a game gives a mostly consistent 30FPS, I am satisfied.
- I don't care about resolutions at all. Again, as long as the frame rate is stable and above 30FPS in most instances, I don't care if its 4K or 480p.
- I vastly prefer Fallout 3 to New Vegas or Fallout 4. Fallout 4 is starting to grow on me unlike New Vegas, but I don't see it topping my experiences with Fallout 3.
- I dislike the Soulsborne games. I could never really enjoy them no matter what I tried. The trial-and-error gameplay just turned me off. Plus being told I suck by the community for not allowing myself to be invaded every 5 seconds and dying to superior geared people in the first game turned me off pretty hard too.
- The only Zelda games I've finished are Oracle of Seasons & Ages for the GBC. And they are by far my favorite of the series. BONUS: I couldn't be bothered to play more than 20-30 minutes of Twilight Princess or Skyward Sword. BONUS2: I quit Ocarina of Time inside Jabu-Jabu's Belly... twice. Once on Gamecube in Master's Quest, and once on the 3DS.
- I actively dislike the Resident Evil and Silent Hill franchises. The only semblance of fun I had was in RE5 in co-op, and even that felt like a chore. BONUS: I got farther in Fatal Frame 2 than any RE game. BONUS2: I quit both RE4 and RE: Revelations ~30 minutes into the games.
- I can't stand Mass Effect. I've tried on multiple occasions to get into the franchise, and all of them failed within the first hour or so. I tried both ME1 and ME2 multiple times, and just couldn't bring myself to play them any longer.
- Despite loving Final Fantasy as a franchise, the only one I ever finished was Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7. And I'm too scared to play another FF game because I'm afraid it won't live up to how damn good Crisis Core was.
- I think the 3D Sonic games got too much flak back in the day. I legitimately enjoyed all of them (with exception to '06). Heroes, Shadow, Secret Rings, and Unleashed were all pretty good.
- I have finished every generation of Pokemon games. Even my least favorite gen (4th), I completed and grinded post-game.
- The last game I beat (aside from Pokemon Sun/Moon) was over 2 years ago, when I beat Dragon Ball Xenoverse.
- When I was composing my favorite/personal top 100 games of all time list, not a single NES, Sega system, or Xbox One game was on that list. And the only SNES games were Mega Man X, Link to the Past, Chrono Trigger, and Earthbound.
- I'm a huge Blizzard fan-boy, and I don't think any other developer comes even close to them in terms of best games of all time. Diablo 1-3, Starcraft 1&2, Warcraft 1-3, World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, Overwatch, and Heroes of the Storm are easily some of, if not THE, best games in their respective genres. BONUS: And I'm personally excited to see Destiny 2 come to the Blizzard launcher.
- Oblivion was the best Elder Scrolls game (outside of ESO, which is superior to every game in TES franchise.)
- I've put in over 150 hours into Dota 2, and I cannot see why anyone would willingly subject themselves to that game. It is by far one of the most un-fun experiences I've had in a multiplayer game, and the only reason it got to 150 hours is because that is ALL of what some of my friends would play for years. BONUS: HotS is the better MOBA.
- In my opinion, the Fire Emblem franchise died with Radiant Dawn. Shadow Dragon was the corpse turning in its grave. Awakenings and onward are not the same franchise.
- I'm fairly certain Valve died with the Orange Box and an AI is now controlling that company. Portal 2 was just a stroke of luck on the AIs part. Left 4 Dead wasn't made by Valve, it was made by a company Valve bought. CS:GO and Dota 2 are what a robot would think humans like to do (and genius, in an evil mastermind AI sort of way) and are overall inferior to CS1.6 and Dota 1 respectively.

Ok. I think I'm done now that I've made enemies with literally everyone on Neogaf and probably everyone in the gaming community. Please find it in your heart to not slaughter me on the way out of the thread. Thank you.

I play the MGS series for the commentary on the Cold War and all things grounded into reality - I've never cared for the supernatural aspect of the games.

EDIT: While the mechs are cool, it got silly after MGS3.

I think Nioh is 100% overrated - after the core game (which has awesome gameplay), it's nothing more then a Diablo style grindfest.

Never played a Zelda game in my life.

I hate JRPG's.

Ninja Gaiden 2 is the single greatest action game of all time.

The first Mafia game might have the best cohesive story in gaming start to finish.

The first Assassin's Creed game was the best one by a wide margin.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is the best of the four.

And the big one...

I think Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain are the best games in the series.

Evidently not a huge fan then.

Always scratch my head when people say they're a "huge fan" of something, when what they really mean is that they simply like it maybe a bit more than average.

After owning basically every major console the last 30 years. I have no urge to own a xbox or Nintendo console. That could change as of now I have No interest.

I skipped the PS1/N64 era.

I know... "what the fuck?" right?

Despite starting my gaming lifestyle with the Atari 2600, to NES, to Sega Genesis, i had so many friends with PS1 and N64 that i just never bothered getting some for myself... i DID collect PS1 games despite not having one. (id buy games for myself to play on my friends consoles.)

So when PS2 came out i was pretty stoked and ended up buying even MORE ps1 games to catch up on... and from there i never missed a console release.

Also... i was always too cool for D&D until i hit 35 (a few months ago)... and watched Harmonquest. Now me and my closest friends since 1994 (lol) are starting up our own D&D games, complete with our own custom figures (hand sculpted and painted by us!)

After thousands of hours of the Dark Souls series I didn't buy the final dark Souls 3 dlc. I just don't feel like I have the patience for it right now.

I think that Zelda Botw is vastly overrated and doesn't bring nearly enough innovation to the table to be counted as one of the best games every made. All it has going for it is reasonably entertaining exploration, puzzles, and nice looking art style. Otherwise it's another tedious survival/crafting/cooking sim with a bad story. Could be because I have the wiiU version. Maybe the switch has magic fairy dust you can snort with it to make it better.

I shit talk a lot of Japanese low budget games but I secretly buy some of them if they ever go on a sale with a price I like. Except Neptunia games. Ew.

I think The Order: 1886 is the second best AAA game of the generation. (Horizon Zero Dawn being #1.)

I really enjoyed No Man's Sky, so much so that I platinumed it.

I really enjoyed Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One.

I thought Haze was a solid game.

As a kid, I played a lot of E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial on the Atari 2600.

I don't like Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, the Soulsborne games, or Elder Scrolls.

I only mildly tolerate Gears and Halo.

I've never played Mass Effect, Call of Duty or the countless other realistic or military shooters, Pokemon, or Minecraft.

I've fallen out of love with Nintendo.
This would have been a worthy contribution to the yearly anonymous confession topic. Doubt anyone can top this.

I don't like any 3D Mario games other than Land and World, and those because they are closer to the 2d games.

BoTW is the only 3D Zelda I like. All of the others bore me in the opening hours.

* Hate Shenmue.
* I don't get GAF's love for Deadly Premonition.
* Never cared for the Dreamcast until I got it for $50 with 4 games.
* I played this once:

I haven't played a single second of any game in the following series: Pokemon, Dark Souls/Bloodborne, Uncharted, Civilization, Command and Conquer or Bioshock. Outside of some buddies in college who played C&C, I haven't even actually witnessed any of these games in person.
