4chan rumor: Bethesda Game Studios's Starfield reveal inbound plus info

So yesterday I saw that MrMattyPlays had a new video on a new rumor about one of Bethesda Game Studios's new IP, very likely to be Starfield. In the video he covers the new rumor that comes from 4chan, so salt is required here for sure. The info and release dates however don't seem all that farfetched to me.

The way he begins his post is rather amateurish though. But since there have been some valid leaks from there, why not check it out? The video goes into more detail about it. It's interesting.

I'm a leaker at Bethesda and I wanted to layout their plans for the future for you guys and give you some pre E3 leaks.

Firstly i'm speaking only about Bethesda game studios here not the publisher.

There will be a few announcements at E3 one is a new major title from Bethesda themselves aswell.

The two Major announcements are Fallout 4 VR and Starfield.

They are working on Skyrim VR aswell but they aren't sure if they are going to show it yet since they don't want to take the light away from Fallout 4 VR or Starfield.

Onto Starfield. The game has actually been in conceptual stages since around Fallout 3's release. It went into pre production officially very low tier pre production after Skyrims Release. After Fallout 4's release it went into full pre production and after all the DLC was out they sped into full development.

The game is going to be a sci fi open world RPG in typical bethesda first person fashion. Its going to feature 5-10 races there's still some debate on what should and shouldn't go in and takes place in the Fallout universe just so far in the future and far away from earth that it'll only be mentioned in hints. This is part of an ongoing planned interconnected universe of every Bethesda franchise. They gave hints of this by implying the Brotherhood of Steel created nirnroot in Fallout 4. They're getting a little wacky with the lore and using "Elder Scrolls time wounds" to justify lore inconsistencies.

Basically Fallout is the beginning of the timeline, Starfield is the middle, and Elder Scrolls is Far Future.

The game will feature space travel and hub worlds aswell as RNG worlds. Its meant to be a test into more sandboxy/minecraft ish AAA thing but with Bethesda gameplay and still actual designed worlds/quests/etc.

They have another Fantasy game of a famous franchise in the works. Game of Thrones and preproduction Elder Scrolls VI and conceptual for Elder Scrols VII which is Todds Magnum Opus.

Feel free to ask any questions.

This all sounds like crap. Starfield is definitely one of Bethesda's new project. But there's no way they have so many projects planned all at once and there's no way they would work another fantasy RPG alongside The Elder Scrolls.

If true Bethesda going for the jugular on bioware after Andromeda just fell flat on its face.

It does sound goddamn good indeed. But I don't want to get my hopes up too high. Since it seems that Bethesda will have two new game reveals at E3 and chances of that being Wolfie2 and The Evil Within 2 are quite big I'd say. But interesting info nonetheless. However if Starfield is a no show, I consider this leak bogus.

Very skeptical of this but (among a lot of other stuff here) hard to believe they would launch a AAA new IP with 5 months from announcement to release. But Todd Howard loves doing that and it's Bethesda Game Studios so they could maybe pull it off I guess. That would be a big announcement for their E3 conference.

That's the point they (as in Bethesda themselves) have said they're not making a new Elder Scrolls but a new IP.

I'm sure Bethesda would love to have a hand at making another RPG subgenre boring, so that's probably true but most of this sounds like bullshit.

That Bethesda connected universe sounds like the most ridiculous shit, but while Starfield likely exists, there's no way the actual game is ready to be shown if this leak is to be believed. I could be wrong, but I'm near certain the game is nowhere near a presentable state if it only went into full production so recently.

Isn't Bethesda Game Studio's size absurdly small in comparison to the scope and scale of their games?

I'm sorry but that sounds like it was leaked by a 4th grader.

Elder Scrolls is Fallout in the distant future is probably the dumbest idea I've ever heard.

Elder Scrolls has plenty of future shit. Read the in game books. Or C0DA.

The Khajiit have a moon colony. Spaceships exist. And that is not even getting into the weird shit.

So Oblivion then Oblivion with guns and now Oblivion in space.

They have interesting idea but if gameplay will be usual Bethesda walking simulator it will remain crap like all the other recent games from them.

Looking at the leak it mentions that Elder Scrolls VII is set for 2030 and I doubt they would be doing conceptual stuff already for it.

Bethesda barely made decent games with the Fallout IP and slowly killed Elder Scrolls too, can't wait to see how bad a completely new IP from them will be.

Well unless they're doing like a reverse world history thing where America eventually colonizes and conquers Europe that kind of seems implausible because already you have a civilization mellinias more advanced than the es universe on the west coast of the US. Crippled, yes, but it would make for a pretty cool game concept of fo dystopia vs medieval magic weilders.

Elder Scrolls is the far future of Fallout? That's super weird to me. Bethesda doing a scifi rpg is an amazing idea though. I hope they come in and fill the void left by Mass Effect.

Haha .... nope. This is 100% fake.

Say what I did in the other thread. He gives more info for Fallout and ES6 than he does for the game releasing this year. It's blantitly fake. Fallout 5 and Es6 are in conceptual stages at best. Es7 is nothing. Got is redundant. I imagine that's why they didn't go through with the idea of an adaptation the first time they thought of it. Also they're not axing voiced protag, let it go.

Ooh, a Game of Thrones title in 2020 as well, huh?

This rumor is a giant crock of shit.

I mean it isn't a super unrealistic scenario. Arkane's got two high quality studios that just released Bethesda owned ips that underperformed. Farming them out to do some licensed stuff isn't that unrealistic, even if got sounds like fanwank especially considering the show would be over at that point.

It's incredible how much Fallout 4 did to make me completely uninterested in the idea of a new Bethesda RPG. Not saying it won't be good, but they really need to bring so many aspects of their game design to modern standards. Fallout 4 was divisive at launch, and only got worse to me as time went on.

But where is Wolfenstein?

Also this.

A Bethesda Space Opera would be just too much to take.
It is most likely fake, but as we know, too many times we have dismissed 4chan leakers which turn out to be real.
I need a mountain of salt tho.

That's not what the leaket claims though. They're claiming that Got is Beths other new Ip. Which is redundant. Got is Elder Scrolls, with better writing and less fanasty. Remove the magic(+Daedra), mystical creatures, and dragons from Skyrim, but keep the shitty writing, and you have something nigh unplayable. It makes little sense. They already have a highly popular medieval fanasty ip.

This is how I feel as well. Fallout 3 gets a big pass because it was an amazing and relatively unique experience when it came out. Sure, the shortcomings of the story and other aspects showed up much later on but at the time, it was great. Right from the start, Fallout 4 showed its shortcomings on its sleeve (for me at least). In a lot of ways it was a huge regression from New Vegas and even from Fallout 3.

It's just difficult to be excited for this, rumor or not, until we see some substantial improvements on their formula.

Perhaps, but GoT still feels awfully redundant genre-wise for Bethesda to publish. And on top of that, the rumor explicitly makes clear that it's speaking on behalf of Bethesda Game Studio's plans rather than Bethesda the publisher, which makes even less sense.

BGS has a far richer and immensely popular fantasy IP at their fingertips already, one they have complete creative control over. It's like if Telltale suddenly started to make Walking Dead seasons based off the TV show on top of their own Walking Dead series. I mean, what is there to gain?

...lacks reading comprehension.
Fallout 4 VR is still Vive Exclusive?

They never said that, did they? They announced it for Scorpio and because Bethesda and Oculus have that lawsuit it was assumed that it would be a Vive title. But Oculus is on good terms with Oculus. And for companies it really only matters to sell as much as possible. With a market so small it is easy: The game will support all major VR platforms most likely. I don't think it will run on Xbox One S or PS4 Slim.
