His departure was rumoured when Erik Wolpaw left but that was because he was tagged in Erik's Facebook post about his last day. Now it's for real.

That's pretty much all or most of the well known members of the writing team gone now.

So there goes valves funny bone. Jesus. I guess people were bound to start leaving when there is shit to actually do aside from the occasional TF2 bit.

the past decade has been pretty heinous for valve creatively. ten years ago they had this influx of hilarious and great writing talent and i thought for sure it would never end. or at least produce more than two games.

So after the departure of Valve writers Marc Laidlaw, Erik Wolpaw, and Chet Faliszek, I figured Jay Pinkerton's exit would only be a matter of time. Best of luck to all of them with their future endeavors.

I would have never ever imagined that Valve would end like this. So anticlimactic. It feels like a bad joke honestly.
Do we even know what is Valve doing appart from DOTA and managing the store?

They did say they're working on three games.

At this point I'm happy to see talent leave Valve for greener pastures.

Being a writer at a company like Valve must be creatively soul-crushing.

How are they corrupt when they just want to do different things? People should stop being angry at Valve because they don't churn out single-player games anymore.

Can we be upset that they have stopped making new games altogether?

Valve is a shell of its former self as a company to it's fans. It's just a store at this point, I couldn't imagine anything sadder I'm the eyes of gamers.

So hold on... are you telling me there's a slight possibility that this might impact the development of Half Life 3?

This will actually speed up development of HL3. Before he left it was at 0.00000002304% per year, now it's estimated to make progress at 0.0000000235973% per year. That's quite the improvement.

I had no idea he worked for Valve. I frequented his site in the mid-2000s. He had some solid material on there.

Prove it.

They have a HUGE update on the way for Team Fortress 2, the biggest ever, after they left the game's matchmaking broken for an entire year and without a content update. Also, they just released a really half-baked campaign for CS:GO and Dota 2 gets updated with cosmetics literally all the time, so back off buddy.
