Wasn't there a game that came out not too long ago that had a special edition that had all kinds of extras but didn't include the game itself?

What's most fucked-up about this is that initially, not only was this a pre-order bonus which could end up affecting the balance of the game, but you were allowed to utilize it ONCE. Not once per campaign, ONCE.

SE made the pre-order content free for everyone (and I would hope removed the activation limit) at the start of this year, but it sets a weird precedent, as they were also selling credits and praxis kits as microtransactions.

The actual content of the pre-order is not all that bad, it is the implication of what that means regarding the monetization of single-player narrative-driven games that SE fucked up to a great deal. On top of that, Mankind Divided was also considered a sales failure that took too long to develop, and we will likely not see another Deus Ex from Square-Enix as a result.

Ugh, yeah, that was an awful decision. Reason why I didn't buy the season pass and just bought the expansions separate. Some DLC contains useless shit, but disposable useless shit is a step too far.

I'm still going with having your game arrive at your house days, or sometimes WEEKS after launch as your "reward" for pre-ordering.

Huh. I don't get the hate for the various wacky clothes as preorder bonuses at all.

That Sunset Overdrive hat is dope, as is the Sonic hat.

To me things like that are essentially the coolest possible preorder bonuses, not the worst. I could give a shit about some little figurine or a free DLC skin or weapon by comparison.

Uh this isn't gaming but I preordered the new Alestorm No Grave but the Sea album and recieved a second disk called No Grave but the Sea for Dogs which is all the same music but with dog barks replacing the lyrics.

I'm sorry for bringing it up in this thread but I am so very confused.

Everyone bashing on Deus Ex pre-order bonus but Microsoft has continually done it with their latest big releases such as GoW4, Forza Horizon, Halo Wars 2, etc where you have to pay $20 extra to get the game 4 days early....

Any Kickstarter-exclusive stuff.

I backed Bloodstained, but I still think it's absurd that something as awesome as an Iga boss fight is exclusive to backers. It really shouldn't be. This is something to be celebrated and preserved in normal copies of the game.

Pirates will probably find a way to access it anyway though, so get fucked normal paying customers.

Came to say this. I still have no clue what the hell they expected you to do with it, as though there's ever a time where you'd want a case for your Wiimote. I tried using it to hold change but it wasn't even very good for that.

That was Mass Effect: Andromeda

Pre-ordering a game as the only means of getting certain playable characters in a fighting game. "Day One" Editions that do the same thing, too. Fuck those.

Er shouldn't it note somewhere in the graphic that the game is not included? It even says it includes Steelbooks, which would be highly misleading. This seems scummy as hell.

Edit: I'm blind, I see it in the corner now. Still scummy.
