Version 4 isn't included in the free upgrade though so that should sell really well, when it releases shortly after.

Yeah, battle of PS4 vs Switch Version, but that on late fall or winter, not this summer.
I wanna see who 100k first (money on Switch), or not at all because PC version is really superior and portable. :p (my friend play it on MS Surface)

I'm not arguing anything. Nintendo said this thing is a home console. They released "home console" type games. Maybe you don't agree with that, but this is where we're at now.

The point of my list earlier which you dismissed was that there's practically no difference in what's a "home console" type game for Nintendo. Either way, seems this discussion stopped on the last few pages lol.

Dengeki says first week shipment of Tekken 7 was around 94k with 60% sell through.

They have Seiken Densetsu at 50% sold, but with lower sales at 22k, so they say first week shipment was some 44k.

Unless something has changed, the PS4 subscription is also more expensive.

Is it looking like there's any interest in the Switch version of Nights of Azure 2? Not seen much about it.

It also only covers PS4. A Switch subscription covers Wii U and PC too.

I was thinking about the, "Splatoon is a twist on the shooter genre", "ARMS is a twist on the fighting genre".

Then I was thinking, "Oh, at least Nintendo won't have to do a twist on the MOBA genre" since there have already been different takes on that: Smite, Battleborn, Paragon.

However, I was thinking that a MOBA might be something that Intelligent Systems would do as another spin-off with Fire Emblem after Fire Emblem Warriors.

Personally I'm waiting for Fire Emblem Kart.

Come on, Nintendo.

I have no doubt stock shortages will plague nintendo into the next year

only thing is, the announcement of apple and the likes competing for parts came out a bit after the 20m being cited, around the time 16m was cited

so production definitely won't be 10m, hopefully it's around 15m at the least, any less would be disappointing

repost to fix thread

nintendo has strong multiplayer/co-op designed games, i think a nintendo polished moba would do well, maybe even go the smash route and use characters from their series again

Oh, I just noticed something.

https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2017/170502e.pdf

Q3 If demand for Nintendo Switch reaches the same levels that Wii did, isn’t it likely that the product will be sold out during the holiday season if you can’t secure sufficient inventory levels by the fall? Are you taking any steps to address this, such as establishing an expandable assembly line?

A3 Kimishima:
Our initial plan for the Nintendo Switch hardware shipments for the last fiscal year was 2 million units, but we saw the high anticipation from consumers prior to launch and began additional production, allowing us to ultimately ship 2.74 million units. We are planning to ship 10 million units this fiscal year, and this figure takes into account the fantastic response we have received from consumers. Planning to ship 10 million units means that we actually plan to produce more than that including units in our warehouse and in-transit product. We are not currently producing this full amount all at once. We expect that the number of consumers who want to buy the hardware will increase as we release titles such as ARMS, Splatoon 2 and Super Mario Odyssey, so our current production model takes that into account.

Kimishima states in the last paragraph that they expect more consumers buying hardware as ARMS and Splatoon 2 releases, so that means they must be setting up big shipments for those releases.

Since youtube gets mentioned, what's with Nintendo JPs latest vid with 2 guys seemingly playing minecraft having 688k views in 20 hours?

anyone know why the vid is significant? Cause that's Zelda E3 numbers... (i'm not sure it's an ad since it's 20 minutes long)

The average Western AAA budget these days is actually more like $80-$100+ million.

For Nintendo, it varies wildly based on what they're making. That "Zelda needs to sell 2 million copies." thing was actually before the year long (ultimately more than a year) delay IIRC, and when they thought they would max out at 200 staff (instead of the 300 they actually maxed out at), so I would suspect that was probably around a $40-$50+ million game.

But yes, I would model their regular Wii U games (removing things like Smash and Zelda) as mid-tier Japanese budgets, so more in the $12-$25 million just doing staff counts, years of development time, a general lack of heavily animated cutscenes/major set pieces, and adjusting a bit for Japanese salaries.

Thanks for the reply. Very interesting.

who is that guy? videos featured him always got tons of views

That people in a Japanese sales thread don't know this guy makes me so sad. But that means that you can watch all of Gamecenter CX now for the first time. And that makes me jealous.

I met Arino at TGS back in 2011. By "met" I mean: Saw him briefly, told him he is awesome and took a blurry photo as he was leaving.

So we are practically best friends.

Follow Japanese game industry but didn't know Game Center CX?!!

:(

And there's so many episodes to watch too which included episodes of Nintendo employees like Iwata with Balloon Fight and that event with Miyamoto and Mario Maker.

There are hints from some retailer blogs for bigger Swtch shipments hitting next week.

There we go.

That definitely ties in with my earlier post that Kimishima stated that they would expect more people to buy Switch units during releases of ARMS, Splatoon 2 and Super Mario Odyssey that they tied it to their production plans to make sure they have shipments ready for those releases.

So the only question is whether it's just a one time bigger shipment or say going up from 25k to 50k units for a few weeks.

I think it will go up around 70-80k like MK8D

Hey people are actually buying Thracia. Man I can't wait for that remake, if anyone played New Mystery and the madness that was there in its higher difficulties, then the Thracia remake is going to simply be devilish.

Well at least they seem balanced for DQXI so far :p
DQX seems more due to Sony/Nintendo policies...
The DQX makes me wonder about a potential FFXIV Switch. Does the current FFXIV subscription cover both PS4 and PC? Wasn't there also a subscription option that covered both DQX and FFXIV on PC?

FFXIV:
- Crysta (SQEN money point)
- Credit Card
- Paypal
- Steam Wallet (for Steam version)
- Time cards
Does PS4 version have any special payment currency?

DQX
Wii (Switch), WiiU
- Credit card
- Nintendo eShop (via credit card or nintendo card)
PC
- you can pay in eShop if you have Wii, WiiU, Switch ID
- Crysta (it has dozen of way to pay, example; webmoney, lawson, etc.)
3DS
- eShop(via credit card or nintendo card)
D game (mobile)
- your mobile wallet (or Dgame wallet?)
PS4
- DQX point only (buy on PS Store) << That mean your SEN account must be JP PSN too if you want to play
- **DQpoint is not the same at DQshoppoint if you want to buy real money fashion item (microtransaction) please pay more :)**

If you play both FFXIV and DQX on PC, Crysta is an answer.
