Shantae Half-Genie Hero dances onto the Switch today for $20

Does anyone know if this includes the risky boots dlc? According to XSEED, it's supposed to come with it... but they may be talking strictly about the physical, which is a great reason to buy it.

"Following a successful launch on the PlayStation®4, “PSVita” and Wii U™ systems, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero is headed to Nintendo Switch with new content as fresh as the open sea. The Nintendo Switch version of this hair-whipping action platformer comes packed with the game’s upcoming Risky Boots DLC, Pirate Queen’s Quest! In this salty new adventure, players take the role of Shantae’s arch nemesis Risky Boots, as she travels to the four corners of Sequin Land in search of components needed to deliver its destruction. New puzzles, new enemies, and all new gameplay aim to augment this already awesome adventure. This title has been rated “T for Teen” by the ESRB."

Isn't that confirmed for Summer already? It's part of XSEED's E3 lineup
I wasn't aware they committed to a physical version yet, or at least I couldn't find any info stating such besides the whole "we are looking into the possibility."

Loved this on PS4, despite its dumbing down from the previous game. Great soundtrack, too. I'll double dip for physical.

Would be interested in how performance compares to PS4. Even with Pro boost mode there is some stutter from time to time.

Cool that its coming to switch, too bad the game is a step down from pirates curse. I was really looking forward to this on PC and I couldn't finish it :(

Hmm further looking into it it does seem they said they were partnering with XSEED for a physical release but later started saying they were looking into it, this is a bit confusing

I'm gonna try asking XSEED directly

Bought this and it's amazing.

I have noticed NO STUTTER at ALL. Everything appears to be running at 60fps. I played in both docked and handheld modes. 60fps with both versions. 1080p docked 60fps 720 handheld 60fps.

Everything is just so crisp, vibrant, crystal clear and rock solid frame rate.

I almost spit my pop out when I got to the part where
You retrieve a magnet for your Uncle's machine and the NPC character goes "oh yeah, here's a magnet it was in this bag with all these hard drives" omg so funny

2D sidescrolling, parallax scrolling action/adventure with a GODLY musical score. The game is just charming from top to bottom. Best $20 I've spent in a long, long time.

Cheers Wayforward and looking forward to more offerings from your team for the Nintendo Switch! Whispers *Contra* re-issue in HD......

I'm hoping Digital Foundry will cover this game within the next day or 2. Would love their review/tech analysis.

Pretty nice guy (apart from the blue shadows thing...)
It's an abysmal downgrade from PC but still a decent game, I guess. Go with expectations in check and you should have a good time.

Hopefully it'll sell well thanks to Switch owners so WF can rest easy and start development of the next game relatively soon.

I don't know if I'd call it abysmal. It can't hold a solid 60 (which totally baffles me...), but all the assets are the same.

It's about the same. You'll be at 60fps maybe 70% of the time.

Really? It drops frames in exactly the same spots PS4 does for me (or did, before Boost Mode.)

Oops, I meant PC as Pirate's Curse and not personal computer haha. I have not played this version at all.

I wanna get into this series, but is there a list of Must Play, Essential, Skippable games? I can be overwhelming.

Pirate's Curse is totally essential. Half Genie Hero is one of the most jaw-droppingly gorgeous 2-D games ever made, but it just can't hold a candle to its predecessor in the gameplay department.

I didn't like this game when playing the 3DS version way back when it released.

Maybe I'll boot it up again and consider it a "demo" to see if I might be inclined to pick up the Switch version.

If you care about nods to previous games and the like, play them in release order (except for this one I guess), if not, just pick whatever. Half Genie Hero feels like the most detached story wise so you could start with it either way.

My favorite is Shantae 2,but 3 (Pirate's Curse) is the most popular and admittedly the most solid in the series.

I wish I had capture equipment or the system took PNG screenshots. I think it looks a bit blurry too but since I've never played any other versions of the game, I have no real frame of reference.

it doesn't look blurry on my tv

Been waiting to pick this one up, and I think I will wait a little bit longer for the physical. I just love those little red Switch boxes.

Bought. I own all the other Shantae games digitally, so I might as well keep on it.

This is a double dip for me since I got the Wii U version from the Kickstarter campaign. I'm just bummed out Wayforward isn't giving us a way to transfer our backer perks over ("The Switch version is not part of that campaign" they said).

Debatable on what you're looking for. If you want an open world like game then you would like Pirate's Curse more. If you want something more short and streamlined then Half-Genie Hero is the one.
No. A lot worse, IMO. Wait for a sale, a very lackluster game.

Yes. A Super Princess Peach mess.
Wrong on both counts. And I've played Super Princess Peach too.

How in the hell did I not know this was 3D!? Guess a media blackout will do that. It looks great, but damn that freaked me the heck out when I booted the game up.

I completely forgot about this game until they announced the Switch version. I have Pirate's Curse from a Humble Bundle they did for Nintendo Wii U and 3DS about a year ago. I didn't get too far with it.

I'm impressed with the art style of this one. It plays really well with even without a proper D-Pad on the Switch.

Wants the largest console games publisher to avoid Nintendo's platforms.

It's a really nice-looking Shantae, but game has its several 'what were they thinking?' moments.

This game is so disappointing after Pirate's Curse. It's still okay, on the level of Shantae and Risky's Revenge.

Played a bit just now, and the HD Rumble implementation is really good. Shows how much HD Rumble can do for the experience in a traditional game. (I played with the Pro Controller.)

For example: when landing after a jump, there's a really low/subtle HD Rumble. Normal rumble would not feel at all good for that kind of feedback, but HD rumble adds another dimension.

Small question why is wayforward not trying to sell the game at a higher price? I saw other publishers trying to sell a switch port 10 dollars higher, so that means that the switch port is not really more costly to make or involving a Nintendo tax.
