Geoff Keighley: Scorpio rumored to cost $499 (he's right, flawless victory)

"I won't buy it at a high price"

A $200 Xbox one S makes this look even more laughable.

The mass market is not ready or asking for this. I think Scorpio will be an even bigger miss than the pro.

Seeing the performance difference between this and Pro and the fact that each Scorpio is unique (Optimized for as low overhead as possible according to Digital Foundry) and even Freesync support, I think that's justifiable, but $450 would have been much better. $400 would have been a steal.

I remember Microsoft saying they wanted to let PC gamers stream to their Xbox, so hopefully that will be possible in 4K. It's too much of a hassle to set up my TV while my PC is already using dual 1080p displays.

I want to buy one, but Microsoft REALLY needs to be pumping out first party titles, and hopefully there's many features that entice me into buying one.

I don't think Geoff would lend himself for a bluff that'd make Microsoft announcing it at $399 look glorious, but now I wonder why they would post that retro $400 pic some days ago if they were pricing it higher... 6 hours till we find out.

Just like the $150 Elite Controller, this will fail for being too expensive. I plan to buy one and really don't care how many others do the same, because just like the elite controller, I want the best xbox experience.

Sony to announce PS4 Pro pricedrop to 350 tomorrow? :p

In all seriousness, hardware-wise $500 might be a justified price, but I wouldn't want to be the one marketing this thing.

I mean, what do people expect? Do you want it to be weak and barely an upgrade? It's a premium console and $499 isn't even a premium price.

It is for a console these days.

bish gets all the credit :)
Milking their core fans is what these upgraded models' purpose is. They'll pay whatever the price.

Nadella tightened the leash, or it actually is going to be $399.

What game is worth another $500? They're freaking XBO games for goodness sakes. I own the base model and it was less when I got it.

LOL.

It will be 399. It has to be.

Anything higher is suicide. They are already selling the XB1 BUNDLED WITH A GAME for 250.

The Scorpio hardware doesnt sound that expensive unless they are gonna announce a surprise hardware change here

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
Build a gaming PC for that. You'd be dense not too since there are no more Xbox exclusives.

RIP.
edit: some people here are overestimating the power of Scorpio (just like the Pro had been overestimated tbf).

No way was it going to be $399. This isn't going to sell to the casual audience, it's going to sell to the diehards who will spend the money.

Surprised they'd go with that again, too high imo. $450 was the highest I was expecting for the standard model.

That's a lot... but I expected it.

Market will not react kindly to this, especially if Sony goes for the jugular and reduces Pro to $350 this holiday season.
