"The Last Night" (Milkshake Duck incarnate) E3 Trailer [XBO/Win10/Steam 2018]

looks sexy... the more action/platform elements remind me a bit more of something like Badass Inc.

would be cool if it had some classic DOS adventure elements but could be best just focus on the action elements and the mood/pacing of that. I liked the sort of tension of struggle in some of those animation segments.

Uh oh, I guess now I'm not allowed to like this game despite looking extremely fucking cool and promising.
Don't care if the director punched a baby, I want to experience that piece of art.

You're alowed to like the game all you want. If you don't care about story or the creator supporting a hate group while using those hateful views as the basis of the story, you're allowed to. No need to be a whiney little baby about people pointing out that the creater is trash, as is the concept.

People are mad because he worded it in a way that feminism is bad. He obviously meant that (in his game) feminism went out of control, but people cant understand it.
This thread is so amazing,in a way its like a dystopian future by itself where people cant have a different opinion.

But he also talked about how feminism destroyed genders, which is an anti-feminist talking point.

Jesus Christ. This was one of the few games I ended up liking somewhat during the conference. But after reading up on everything that has come to light in this thread, I sure as hell ain't spending a dime on this. Art looked interesting but I'm not about to support GG scum.

It must be really easy too see everything in black and white politcally. I feel like that is a very american thing to do.

I've played games from people I disagree before. So what? It didn't kill me.

It's kinda funny that these kind of things always happen with Scifi/Cyberpunk games. Reminds me a lot of the Read Only Memories thing they tweeted out. Just reversed.

Really amusing to see as an 'outsider'.

I'll play it. There are too few cyberpunk games. For me to skip this one, the creator would need to do some truly horrible stuff. Having a different political opinion isn't enough.

inverse handmaids tale? theres room for that.

as long as its not preachy/glorifying stuff
see ya know, rick and morty had a planet run by sexist women and that like worked because it clearly wasn't supposed to be an accurate portrayal of what Dan Harmon thought a planet run by women would be like

this guy straight up said this universe is what it'll be like if modern feminism won
I'm expecting over the course of the story for him to basically write off women, but you see he gave them a chance because he was bi

inner monologue

"I tried to like girls, I really did. I knew after the Uprising they wanted men to be subservient but I assumed some still had to be good. But every woman I dated just didn't see the plight of the maligned males in this world, the Great Matriarchy Council ruled over their thoughts like an iron fist. Even the less radical ones never had any unique thoughts, they were too busy talking about their Cyber-lashes to talk about anything real like the men I dated do. And that's why I fight, I fight for a better future, for when men and women are truly equal and the Matriarchy is crushed under the ERM (Egalitarian Resistance Movement) and we all sing kumbaya. The end"

The Last Night exists in a universe where Bioshock was super-offensive and boycotted for its depiction of a dystopia brought upon by extreme Objectivism.

I'm confused...what is wrong with egalitarianism? I always thought that was the ideal.

Egalitarianism is great, but in its common usage on the internet, it's generally a sort of catchall version of "All lives matter" for matters of gender, race, sexuality, etc. It's usually a way to dismiss, downplay, or ignore legitimate concerns. It's honestly a big red flag, even without all those other enormous neon cyberpunk red flags everywhere.

And here I was, wondering how the game got so many posts already. It looks cool and all, but we barely saw anything.

Anyway, the reception to this game after it releases would be very interesting.

I'm from Brazil and I don't buy this "neutral discourse" bullshit. You are going to give money to a GGer, and that's your position in this situation. Don't try to be the better person

The entire game's plot is based around his shitty worldview you can't separate it. This is like Polanski making a movie about child rape.

How the fuck did Microsoft not catch this? Do they not look at the social media of game devs who want to be apart of their show?

Sony and Nintendo be like-

yep, pretty sure Monday's headline will be "MS gives center stage to game, the creator of which is later exposed as misogynistic, anti-feminism racist that's also transphobic, and for gender identity erasure at world's biggest video game convention" or something along those lines. Damn.

She's in Microsoft Studios Publishing.

It doesn't seem like they're publishing, but it's a ~Console Launch Exclusive~, which presumably means Microsoft is providing some development/marketing/financial support.

What exactly is so bad about this game creator's view points?

I read the original post here: https://www.idlethumbs.net/forums/topic/9728-cyberpunk-cop-killah-aka-the-last-night/#comment-324938

I assume that user timsoret is the creator?

Nothing seemed bad about that post....

"I also don't buy the patriarchy stuff. Maybe it applies in the USA, but I live in Paris, and here in France, virility is not encouraged at all, sensitive men and intelligence are a lot more appreciated than "being a tough guy" and muscles. Most masculine behaviors are totally prohibited and are considered very macho here."

lol

also ya know, read the rest of what he's been saying

not really sure this has anything to do with people being americans or having a difference in political opinion

you can be for egalitarianism and not be a shit lord. Dude is hiding behind that to make it seem like he doesn't have a crap view point. GG is not egalitarianism. Saying 'All lives Matter' isn't real egalitarianism.

adjective
1.
relating to or believing in the principle that all people are equal and deserve equal rights and opportunities.

If someone believed that, but are so blind so as to not see that this isn't the world we live in, then they goofed. If people said shit like that truly believed in this, then they would work to make things equal first. Some people want to use it as a crutch to have shitty view points or to hand wave inequality. See the game creators posts vis a vis, well every including Identity Politics, gender and what have you. That guy isn't an egalitarian, because he clearly feels threatened when people actually ask for those equal rights...

/Done off soap box. Game looks cool. Guy has shitty politics that go too far to be able to separate art from the artist. Add on to it the seeming hypocrisy of someone belonging to a group like GG who wants politics out of games and then making a game catering to those politics....

that post alone on a vacuum seems relatively fine, read the rest of the thread.

I'll bookmark and read it.

I'm not trying to be contrarion but I also don't see anything particularly outrageous about the Twitter picture AuthenticM quoted. Is that also fine out of context, and if so, is there a bigger story I could read up on regarding that specific Twitter rant?
