What's the best app to monitor real-time pricing of ethereum? It seems coinbase is like 1 minute off..
There is no real-time pricing. The only pricing is the pricing on the exchangers. Usually the larger exchangers are more or less in sync; however, some local exchangers might be delayed behind the market by up to several minutes, which effectively means that some of these dips will be smoothened out in those markets.

Had a high, pre-dip order get rejected because the exchange was busy. Yay.

Had a very low, heavy dip order get rejected because the exchange was busy. Booo.

Thanks for the info. I'm using cryptocompare.com and it's OK I guess.

Would it be a good idea to store a wallet in an offline smartphone? Just thinking....

Might be okay. I'd think about investing in a usb wallet though, if you have a lot of funds tied up. They're apparently very secure.

Thanks for the info! Ledgerwallet is showing estimated shipping dates of mid-August!

I ordered one in May, and it shipped last week. Increasing shipping delays for secure wallets is a pretty bullish indicator for crypto I'd say.

I had set some ambitious personal price targets for ETH, and we're about 3 months ahead of those. There's either a hard correction coming after this rapid ascent or we'll be at $1000 by the end of the year, if not sooner.

What other coins are people investing in outside of the usual (Sia, Eth, BTC and litecoin)?

I'd like to get in on another run, Though I'm sure we all would :)

I have a bit of Golem (GNT) because if Ethereum is to have a good future, it needs applications. Golem looks like it has potential to be one of the first big Ethereum apps.

I am also considering some Tezos and EOS when they launch, to hedge against Ethereum's future success.

everything i got, except eth, is down the last few days.
i think some promissing newer projects are lbr (blockchain youtube) or lsk. (similar to eth, but with javascript instead of solidity) but they are already pricy. i think everything in the cryptoworld is quite a bit overvaluated at the moment. hard to tell if the coins will be worth anything in a year ;)
stratis (also similar to eth but with c# instead of solidity) is cheap at the moment because it fell down 30% in the last 2 days, but you are paying for a potential real world usage that doesnt yet exist. could be tripple the current price next week, could be a third...

I don't know of an app that is sufficiently real-time, so I just have GDAX open in a tab: https://www.gdax.com/trade/ETH-USD. You can just keep that open all day long, and check it when you feel like it.

Otherwise, the Blockfolio app is good for pretty current info if not 100% real-time, and the alerts you can use are helpful. I like it.

I bought some Etherum at $250 like a week~ ago and see its now at $385~ on coinbase, worth buying more? ^^^ up above people are buying at $400 and thinking it might even hit $500 TODAY?

Also which exchange is the most recommended for now? I have that ETH and some BTC on coinbase, and want to move probably some BTC to an exchange, then I can 'buy' other stuff with those BTC, yeah?

It's 373 now. Overnight highs of 420 give a clear indication of where it's headed again. Dropping to 350 is possible, but to step back for a second, going from 373 to 420+ is still really great for any investment. Given the Chinese conference is this week, returning to 420 at least seems highly likely in the short term. I don't see 500 today, but who knows anymore. 500 by the end of the week maybe.

seems like a pretty clear 'buy' recommendation then eh lol

Eth is in a correction right now, because Bitcoin is correcting [stupid bitcoin lol]. After correction it will bounce up; $500 tonight is somewhat outlandish though :D

Bitfinex is the best exchange I have tried, but their UI might be intimidating at first. Good point though is that they don't exchange random coins that evaporate over the night.

Too bad. I was like ... 246 dollars away from my first 5 digits profit. Thanks a lot bitcoin you party pooper. My internet provider is down as well so my hands are bound.

Ended up buying a few ethereum and litecoins. Will wait and see where this goes. Seemed like a good time buying ethereum at 360

Congratulations to anyone who didn't lose their currencies during the free fall [or perhaps added some]; your assets are more valuable thanks to all the people who lost some money lol

Though sometimes these dives happen in couples; one might follow even bigger :D

I tried buying some Eth and by the time coinbase came back it shot from 317 to 350. 😢

The only thing I have heard about coinbase is that a defunct exchanger has filed a law suite against them. Try Bitfinex; the UI is based on React and I assume they must be using something modern for their backend too. Some of these exchangers are using technology from 5 years ago.

By the way, how the heck does Exodus store your private keys?
It has a email backup and 12 password backup but how the fuck does that work?
The video makes no sense because it says it can restore your wallet from any of those methods....
