Well, we'll know better in about 3 hours. I think from a Japanese publisher perspective the one real eyebrow raiser at E3 has been Namco in terms of not announcing Switch stuff. E3 is obviously very western focused so I was never expecting a ton of announcements.

I doubt we'll see Nintendo announce major stuff. They wanna keep people focused on short to mid term imo and that's fine. They have some good stuff coming in the next 3-6 months.

With Namco, I expect an eventual port of DB Fighters. Code Vein not so much.

Well we'll see. I'm not optimistic given the current landscape though.

Lets see how well ARMS did there. While the forecast is not that optimistic, i am curious to see if it can do much more than the prediction and how good the legs would be in the coming months.

Second Rayark game for the Nintendo Switch. This time, it's Implosion (action game)

http://blog.esuteru.com/archives/20014834.html

Mobile version > https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rayark.implosion&hl=en

Not mentioned at source link (unless they updated since then), but gotta assume it's Flyhigh Works doing the port job again. Most likely simultaenous ww release like VOEZ (well, it wasn't simultaneous in NA due to launch day shenanigans).

I remember seeing this and thinking "I hope it comes to Vita since Rayark ported Deemo". Switch will do though!

Well... E3 has never been the best place for Japanese game announcements, unless they're specifically targeted to a Western audience.

So I guess we wait for TGS now.

More waiting, yay...

Also, fuck Namco.

Mpl even tried to liken it to PS4 but it falls apart when you see the second year support. Sure Switch support will increase, thats expected but the point of contention is by how much.

Monster Hunter World has already got 1 million views on Capcoms channel, with 18,000 likes and 850 dislikes. Chatter seems to be very positive as well.

Speaking of arguments falling apart, here are the actual 3rd party releases and announcements 3 months in from the big Japanese publishers.

If it wasn't clear, I was talking about releases.

There's a sizeable Dragon's Dogma base? I thought the game bombed overseas.

I think the game even doing 4M worldwide would be a tremendous success (because it would signify huge growth overseas) but I really doubt it will manage it. It all depends on content, hopefully we should know more soon-ish.

Its at 3 million sales.

Both consoles had terrible 3rd party support at the beggining, it's a sad comparison to make really. It just shows lack of confidence from 3rd parties.

In the Playstation 4's case, I don't think it was as much lack of confidence as the low userbase and their preference towards that of the PS3 and other last-gen consoles.

I think the big issue in getting early Japanese support for both PS4 and Switch is that they followed up PS3 and Wii U respectively. 3DS (following DS) and even Vita (following PSP) had no problem having much stronger 3rd party support from the outset. Even Wii U was stronger arguably before it launched.

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.
Dude PS4 first year lineup was dog shit. Before DQH and MGSV PS4 literally had no game, first party or 3rd party. Switch first year lineup is miles better.

He's talking about PS4's second year. That's a far more accurate comparison to make since Switch has been on the market for 3 months.

PS4 was released in February 2014 in Japan. Comparing PS4 2014 lineup and Switch 2017 lineup seems to be accurate.

Fire Emblem Warriors is 29th of September in Japan (since it's a thursday, not a worldwide release).
Mario is October 27th as in the west.

November and December left, I guess one will be for Xenoblade, maybe the other for Dragon Quest XI.

Switch version is 7800 yen, 3DS version is 1000 yen cheaper.

FIFA, Fire Emblem, Pokken and Dragon Quest X all releasing within a week.

For Xenoblade 2 it also said Winter 2017.

Usually there is one or two titles releasing on the week of November 21st. We know Pokémon Ultra Sun and Moon is one, but there's nothing for Switch.

Is it possible Xenoblade 2 will get that slot?

It doesn't looks like there'll be any other newly announced titles.

FYI for others reading, Zelda: A link between worlds (3DS) and Super Mario 3D World (Wii U) released in the same week as an example.

Edit: Forgot, Pokémon US/UM is actually releasing the week before November 21st.

So what about that thing Orgen teased in the 20+ JP UE4 Switch games thread.
About how it would be a thread for the archives....

I was assuming KH3 or something else that could make that kind of thread.

Technically Yoshi is a UE4 JP Switch game, but that's not a huge announcement.

Any ideas?

Yeah, that seems likely. There's definitely going to be something outside of Xenoblade in the last couple of months for the Switch, and Dragon Quest seems as good a guess as any (or possibly a Smash port, but if we don't hear anything about that this week I'm going to assume they're going to be adding significant content and marketing it as a new Smash game for late next year instead).

Not much change in the upcoming Switch lineup going from what we saw at E3.

That was to be expected, they announced a lot of those titles back in the January presentation.

Mario+Rabbids and Pokken DX were the only new titles if they were never leaked but we knew about them.

Actually, the only real surprise was Rocket League for Switch. That will be big considering the following for it.

Metroid Prime 4 was pretty surprising lol.

KH3 on Switch seems like it's not happening. Not surprising in my opinion but some people in here were talking about it like it was a sure thing.

Surely in that 20+ there are some unannounced games but since we saw Yoshi i guess some of them are first party(Metroid 4 might be too), other indies and some third party games (DQXI?).

You mean that rumour from GoNintendo that they got from some guy at GameStop when it was never listed as 2018 for release?

This is referring to the 2017 lineup. Obviously no one knew about the majority of 2018+ titles.
It was a joke at everyone assuming it was a 2018 game for the past 5 months.
But there's still time for the delay we've all been waiting for. Fingers crossed!

But after today's trailer my interest dropped significantly

Hm, if Metroid really is UE4 despite being developed internally, I guess that would qualify under Orgen's rumor. That's a big announcement.

I'm really questioning how games like Skyrim, Mario + Rabbits, Rocket League, FIFA do on the Switch in Japan:
- Big western RPG on a handheld
- XCOM with Mario branding
- Sport games that allow portable multiplayer

Predicting is going to be fun

He says while PS4 is getting a mainline Dragong Quest, Kingdom Hearts and Monster Hunter.

Nothing new. It should be known that Switch will never get the Japanese support PS4 has.

Code Vein and DBZ are both 2018 titles, so a SW port should of been in though considering third parties must of been aware of the SW at least a year in advance (2016).
dq is shared with 3ds where it will do most sales
mh:w won't sell like the eventual mh5 on switch, ps4 version still unknown

not all third parties would have known what the switch exactly was, so being careful is understandable

sure switch won't get the support ps4 will have, but it will surely get more than just ports, i think 3ds tier support in the end is reasonable

either way we dont have to wait very long to see how switch support pans out, give it a few months, it has only been 3 and a half months

The biggest bomb drop was Pokémon(probably 2018?).

Nintendo did the absolute no brainer thing and made the convergence clear. Considering Takahashi's comment on his relief I imagine they were reluctant to do it. It needed to be done considering the lack of third party support though.

It also stuck out to me that they announced Metroid Prime 4 with a logo to help make sure the 3DS game didn't upset people.

Yeah, in hindsight that was definitely the case.

In general I think it was a good thing Nintendo didn't shy away from playing the hype game. As I said, it works.

Also Tales of Having a Budget looks good too.

Mario & Sonic could be in there too but apparently Dragon Quest XI winter release looks more possible now.

Not sure what you're talking about there, I must have missed something.

It had one shipment and sold most of it out of the bomba bin.

Yeah that's true, which directly relates to quality issues I mentionned at first.
What was the shipment btw?
It sold 125k the first four weeks, so they really went crazy if they shipped 250k copies of that product.
