Pre-E3 Hype Train: Essential changes for Bloodborne 2

Demon's Souls 2 didn't happen for obvious reasons. From moved onto Dark Souls with Namco Bandai, and when Sony/From partnered back up they wanted something different.

And Bloodborne 2 isn't happening for similarly obvious reasons.

Why are we so convinced this will happen? Any rumours circling around?

Be nice to be wrong but I don't think I am. Save this post for E3 crow serving, I suppose.

.... Gonna need to elaborate on that.
Far as I could tell, all we know is From and Sony are working on something together.
Bloodborne 2 seems completely possible, though not certain of course.

Did Sony/From lose the rights?

Could you explain your obvious reasons? There's a much higher chance for a Bloodborne 2 than there ever was a Demon's Souls 2.

I'm not saying it will happen this E3, but Bloodborne 2 is definitely happening at some point.

Sony owns the rights to Demon's Souls and Bloodborne.

The obvious reasons is that FROM made contract money from Demon's and went on to create Dark. I see more likely them repeating the pattern.

I think Bloodborne 2 will happen, it just won't be FROM.

But oh boy if it is.

and what if that is the case ? the best souls game are the ones with japan studio involved, so im not worried about that..

Sony passed on pubishing Demon's Souls in the US before it ended up selling well, this is most likely the only reason why Dark Souls wasn't Demon's Souls 2.

More build variety. Bloodborne is so simplistic compared to Souls.

And yet each of the weapons feels worthy of a full playthrough. This is why I think they should be available from the very beginning for subsequent characters. The fact that you have to beat 90% of the game to access some of the best weapons, and can only use them on a completed build in NG= is really lame.

Bloodborne 2 is my most anticipated game but I really doubt it's coming this year and I doubt it's one of the three projects FROM is currently working on.

From Soft/Miyazaki's next action RPG game is dark fantasy. They've said that over and over. Bloodborne is not dark fantasy. I expect the new IP to look and feel like Souls, and not BB. People are setting themselves up for disappointment.

Involved != leading.

But I'd like to see a Japan Studio souls-inspired game.

Yep and that's not only the mistake of Sony but also the knowledge that a multi-platform game works and the audience's there.

Considering the amount of games published I'd say that is more likely that Bloodborne is Sony's because Bamco didn't want to risk the money to create the IP. But it's all FUD.

... Why would the pattern repeat?

Because why would you do a first party game as a contractor when you already have a name and you could do the same kind of game multi-platform and sell more.

Bloodborne 2 will be done, the IP is too juicy to throw it away after a success like that, I just don't see for sure FROM being involved.

There was a short novel from Neil Gaiman about Sherlock Holmes vs Lovecraftian horrors. I want something like that, with more humans to interact with and not only endess fights against mindless ennemies. Something out of the souls formula. More of an adventure than an action game.
Maybe a story like The Thing, but on a bigger scale, with creatures hidden among humans.
Bloodborne already perfected the souls formula, and it's my favorite game ever. I can't see them doing better than that, so they should switch genre and continue exploring that universe with another kin of gameplay.

For real tho, I don't want Bloodborne 2. I'm secretly hoping they're doing Otogi 3, with a souls/otogi 2 hybrid gameplay.

No warping for a time.

No central hub . As you explore you find hunter workshops strewn about in the world where you can level up and upgrade equipment.

So I guess, uh...Bloodborne 2 is not happening or do you all think it might be a reveal in Keighley's December game awards event?
