The first fifteen minutes of this week's episode were awesome. Not sure how I feel about the bowling alley stuff. This season has definitely improved for me over the last few episodes. It still isn't as engaging as the first two, but I still like watching it.

EW with a few Hawley quotes reiterating that this might be the last season:
Fargo showrunner Noah Hawley told fans at the ATX Television Festival in Austin on Friday that he doesn’t have an idea for a fourth season of the anthology drama and might not ever one.

“I wasn’t sure if there would be a second season. I wasn’t sure if there would be a third season. At end of season 1, [FX] said, ‘If you want to leave it there [that would be fine],'” Hawley said. “There’s only a certain amount of storytelling you can tell in that vein. And I love telling stories in this vein, but I don’t have another one yet. So watch the 10th hour [of season 3] because it might be the last.”

This episode should be in the Top 5 best episodes of the whole show, the meticulous attention to details was jaw dropping and the visual storytelling was at its peak!

I just watched the first 2 episodes since they recently started airing on uk tv, and I gotta say, me and dad really loved it. I know there's plenty of time to be disappointed which seems to be the main feeling around this season but it was a strong opener.

If you love Fargo, you'll love Legion.

And I'm honestly having a really hard time describing Legion, it's unlike any other show I've seen. It's definitely the most unique comics show out right now.

Now that I thought about it (I don't know if it was discussed before), when Yuri is first introduced, he get out of the truck and knocks on the trailer twice. That could have been Qualls.

Just watched the first episode thanks to you, and holy shit, it is just incredible. Can't believe I haven't heard of this before.

Also, upon re watching the last episode, Yuri was poisoned? Going back to Gloria's dialog with Emmit at the hospital, and it is 3 months later, it would make sense. but I was very confused when I first watched it.

Do you mean Sy?

Yes, that was the implication; Varga poisoned him.

Sy stated that the tea tasted "bitter". Bitter almonds is a taste associated with cyanide poisoning.

No, I meant Yuri. Gloria says "Toxic,poisoned like that Russian fellow." Unless she referring to something else. But I don't think she ever referenced Sy as being Russian.

Hm, missed that completely. I would assume she's referring to another event, such as the 2006 poisoning of Alexander Litvinenko that was mentioned above.

Otherwise they haven't revealed it yet. What happened to him is an interesting mystery though- definitely seemed the most random thing to not have a wrap up with the time skip.

one of the things ive noticed is how little i connect with Coons cop character.

the lead cops in the past two seasons felt like they not only had more development, but straight up had much more screen time.

carrie coons character (whos name i cannot even remember right now) just seems to pop up at weird intervals in episodes to say "hi im here to advance the plot"

Yeah I noticed that immediately but The Assassination of JJ is one of my all time favorite films. Just a masterclass in acting, pacing, cinematography, and the way it tells the story between the lines of dialogue is brilliant. The train robbery in particular is such an amazing intro to a character in JJ. God I'm going to have to watch it again tonight after Fargo aren't I?

Edit: I'd say "ripped off" is harsh language. It was a very clear homage to Deakins and meant to pay respect to the man regardless of how much it apes the og scene

FX chief John Landgraf has talked about Fargo season three possibly being the last season of Fargo, which led to a few panicked stories about the show preemptively ending after this year. But he was basically saying that it would depend on if you have another great idea for another season. Does the creative process for potential Fargo seasons change, now that you’re also working on Legion?

NH: Well, there are only so many hours in the day, certainly. These last 18 months have been — it’s been a bear, for sure. It would be one thing if my goal was to create relatively unoriginal programming, where it’s like, "Oh, they’ll solve a crime." But certainly these two shows and the demand that I have and the network have — that they’d be original and the quality level is as high as we can make it — it makes it difficult.

Every marathon has to end at some point, or at least you should only run one at a time. The way it was always lined up was that it was an anthology — it was a limited series, or it was an anthology. So either we were going to do one, or we were going to keep going and it was going to be different every time. Right away, going into season two, the question was: "Is there going to be a season two?" Because, of course, we won every award that you could literally win, so we certainly could’ve mic-dropped and walked away at that moment, and we’d certainly better have a damn good reason not to do that. So the idea for season two was to expand the scope and all the things that went into it.

But I pitched them an idea and they liked it, and I developed it. But it was 15 months between seasons, and now it was 18 months between seasons two and three. I don’t have a fourth season in my head at this exact moment, but I also know that if and when I call John Landgraf and say, "I got it," we’ll start moving in that direction. Whether that’s tomorrow or three years from now or whatever it is. I do know that I have a second season of Legion racing toward me, and I need to focus on that because the bar is pretty high there as well.

Which really is a travesty considering how monumentally talented Carrie Coon is. They did her dirty.

Goddamn, MEW and Mute Fargo 1 guy came back with a vengeance. I really didn't think it was going to be Mew who was going to fuck Varga up.

Probably one of my favorite episodes this season. Seeing Wrench and Swango outsmart Varga was satisfying, just so cool to see Wrench back in general. Loved the scenes at the bar with Gloria and the other cop, as well as the motion sensors working for Gloria. Maybe things are finally going to go her way. Will be interesting to see how it wraps up.

Who else on the west coast just watched Nicky Swango OWN that dirty mouth englishman?

Edit: overall great episode on first impression. Nicky and mr. Wrench are a dynamic duo for sure. Hope everyone ends up ok next week.

Also, I realized how much I hate Vargas and want him to get his next week. He might also be my favorite Fargo villain (billy bobs just so good though) His acting this episode was superb.

Yeah, his speech about Ray was really good.

"Thirty years, I've been killing him. That was just when he fell."

Moe giving Gloria a hug was great and the joy when the faucet and soap dispenser worked for her was awesome.

Nikki outplaying Varga was good to see, but I also liked the little smirk that Varga's henchman had when he picked up Emmet at the precinct.

Why didn't Wrench just kill the henchman? He's already on the run from the law. And the Shea Whigham character immediately releasing a suspect who confessed is beyond any realm of plausibility. There wasn't even an investigation. It's stupid. It also still makes no sense why Emmit is unwilling to talk about Varga if he's willing to confess to murder.

There's just too many frustrating gaps in logic for me to enjoy this. The MEW stuff was the only real highlight IMO, Carrie Coon's character is still just there to be foiled by Whigham and little else.

Alright episode. When Chief Burgle tells her cop friend not to give a speech at the bar, I thought, "Thank god. This episode has had 11 speeches already." It's like no one has a normal conversation anymore. Every scene is just someone entering a room and one character staring off into space waiting to regurgitate their paragraphs.
