NieR: Automata |OT| "I wouldn't expect too much from this game if I were you."

Theres a constant stream of level 50 machines which keep coming, and coming, and coming, all whilst removing various abilities of mine (including one which makes the screen so scrambled you can't see what you're doing). What are you supposed to do (genuine question, I want to get passed it!)?

From merchants there are visual/aural/manipulation cure items you can buy which remove these effects when affected by them. By the end of route B I'd bought some assuming they'd be useful later (they were!). I think they're available from the Resistance Camp.

If the situation you're experiencing is near the beginning of route C with the
corrupted YoRHa unit
then you have to hack
2B first
then run from the rest and travel to the next quest marker (pretty sure that's how it played out). I think the cures can be used in this scenario but there are a couple scenarios which prevent you from using them.

One question before I dive back in for the last two endings tonight or tomorrow (and I'll just spoiler it to be safe):
Is there an opportunity to go back and turn in quests and stuff after doing the other route C ending, or does it roll directly into E?

Yes to both. Might want to do them now though.

Gotcha, thanks! (Spoilers)
I unfortunately have an idea of what the ending entails
. I'm trying to finish up the 95% Unit Data quest, but I have a feeling I won't get there until after the first of those two endings.

Alright, time to finish this.

[Major spoilers]
I chose 9S the first time around, mainly becuase I had been alternating 9S and then A2 through route C. I also unfortunately already know that in E you delete your save data at the end (Gamespot guy on the Bombcast a while back said it wasn't a major spoiler, lol), but having watched a Nier 1 recap, I guess I would have at least had an idea of something along those lines happening anyway. But otherwise, I really have no idea what to expect.

Edit:
Saw A2's ending and took the opportunity to bail out before E; I really fucking love the ways the game messes with the credit sequence [edit: and this was before the ending holy shit]. I still don't have the materials for the final pod (that crosses over into the kind of brainless grinding that I'm not going to continue), but I wanted to turn in Reconnaissance Squad for that nice 100% quest number. Really great touch to have the Machine Research Report written by Jackass, and yeah, I kind of had a feeling that Project Gestalt was going to wind up being at the core of the machines. The "To sum up" paragraph is a pretty good way to sum up the game, lol.

So I just started the final Father Servo fight at Level 21 with only one upgraded sword...

Should I reload my save from 20 minute ago or soldier on? Will wasting 30+ minutes of my life fighting this guy be worth it or shall I come back later?

EDIT: After ten minutes with only 20% of his health down I'm giving up. Gonna wait until later.

EDIT 2: There's a red circle on the minimap at the top of this broken highway piece in the city but literally nothing's there. I have no idea what I or the game are doing wrong.

Yea fight Father Servo when you're stronger or when you're playing as 9S.

I believe that red circle is supposed to be the robot that starts the Speed Star sidequest. You probably have to reload or something if he isn't flying above the broken highway piece.

Ah, OK. So does that mean side quests carry over to Route B including completed ones? Don't really want to do however many there are all over again.

Currently going through the Forest Zone. I'll check the broken highway again later.

Some carry over. But some are exclusive to Route A, basically the stuff only 2B would be doing, like helping out Operator 6O. Some are exclusive to the other routes as well, but ultimately nothing is permanently missable.

Just finished route B. Guess it's time to C the next route, then I'll try and finish D next one quickly. E shouldn't be too long before I reach the last route.
I'll let myself out...

Thanks for the answers!

Unfortunately I'm stuck. About 12 hours in and I've just fought the
massive EMP Machine at Sea
and I'm wondering
where am I supposed to go now? I've just been given a black box reciever from the two redhead twins to find 9S but nothing's changed whatsoever.

Go to the flooded city, use your Scanner program to find the YoRHa members, one of whom will tell you where 9S is.

You actually don't have to talk to them though, I could tell you where to go if you want

Thanks. Could you? If there's no consequences, of course.

EDIT: No need, found it on my own.

Man, i don't know how you resisted the temptation lol. Once it got to that point i couldn't really be bothered going back to do other stuff. I needed to know.

Just finished Route A in about 14 hours. Is that about right with some decent side questing and exploration on Normal?

Great (first) ending, albeit a bit abrupt. Can't wait to get back in and play more, I'm loving this game so far.

Yea that's pretty average.

Game just froze as the "x has become your ally message" popped up right after I went into the pray/retrieve/repair menu for another body. Haven't lost much progress but damn is this kind of stuff annoying.

My first post here. I was recommended this game from the P5 thread. I've avoided all guides and discussion about the game and I like the game a lot. I played about 15 hours and the credits started rolling wth? Lol

Once I learned there a lot of different endings, I feel I need to check out this thread for some guidance. Looking forward to see the other endings including the definitive one if there are any.

The main endings are ABCDE, once you reached one of them just start NG+, that#s all the guidance you need, really.

Finished the E ending just now. The game started quite crappily, but as it went along it just grew better and better and ended up being one hell of a fantastic game. Time to wrap up the rest!

Anyone got suggestions for that Unit Data quest? I'm stuck on 94% and it feels like I've done pretty much everything the game has to offer, can't find the remaining enemies :(

Sorry for asking here but anyone got an extra day one edition DLC for PS4 they might spare?

Bought day one edition online for pick up at Best Buy but they gave me the normal edition and I opened without realizing the mistake. Took it to BB and they first denied the mistake but admitted once the system scanned it as day one edition but no luck as its sold out at my store. Talked to BB forum and the admin admitted their system was wrong and would update their system properly but told me I'm SOL and won't remedy their mistake.

So now that the game has been out for awhile and people have found everything, what are the best weapons to go for from the start? Are there any must finds in the first 2 playthroughs?

Just finished the whole thing. Damn! Is there somewhere I can go to get a clearer picture of what the hell just happened and what the ending represents? Too much stuff going on and I want to make sure I got it all clear.

That was a fucking intense game of bullet hell. Does it really delete all of your saved data if you choose to do so, or is Yoko Taro simply screwing with us?

Blah, too much hacking near the end of Route C,I guess, not a fan of it and I cant go on for now because of this, even on easy...my only hope is that the hacking maps get easier after you fail them 3 times or more,I swore it made one easier on one of the earlier floor I couldn't clear.

What is the best way to get materials for upgrading pods and weapons? I really don't want to sit for hours grinding and looking for materials.

Character SPOILERS
And how the hell do you get Emil to carry the two weapons in his shop?

Same answer for both:

During route C, Emil will eventually be selling most rare weapon upgrade materials along with the two weapons. Just fast travel to the resistance camp repeatedly until Emil's loop is right outside the camp and his music is playing on fast-forward.

And after route C, nearly everything except beast hide, pure water, and gadgets will be sold in some store or other in the game. There are five shops you will need to check (route C spoilers):
Emil normal selection, Emil rare selection, Amusement Park, Scientist Machine, Pascal.

Was it the one with the
crazy orange box layout in the last room? If so, the boxes go away if you kill an optional wave of enemies before that room.

Goddamn Youtube related videos. Was watching Bunnyhop's Nier summary and, lo and behold, a bloody boss spoiler right there. Hopefully it isn't a massive super-final end-game boss but I really didn't want to see that.

Exactly, you have a good memory lol ;)...I did just that so it wasnt really making it easier by seeing the way you play hehe...man, had a hard time there but finally just finished Route C.

That whole long last section was awesome... and I
chose A2 in the showdown, which was hard at times because I was getting hacked by 9S lol...

I was sad at what happened to
Devola and Popola
...what awesome names ;)

Just finished Route B

All I can say is HOLY SHIT this game.
To get a preview for what's essentially a sequel is fucking amazing. The Japanese version of Weight of the World was a great surprise. The short reunion scene between 2B and 9S had me tearing up.
This fuckin' game. Already surpassed everything but Zelda in terms of how much sheer enjoyment I've had from a game this year.

Now to sleep and then on to Route C.

Hold on to that butt.

Oh I'm holding it. The best part is that, unlike a certain other game,
I know the preview isn't going to swindle me with promises of plentiful new and exciting content when it's actually showing off an unfinished second chapter.
