Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster Discussion Thread

So you'd want Marvel Super Heroes 2, then.

I'm totally open for it in the future. Just bring everyone from MVC3 and MVCI, then they could add more newcomers at the end.

I've said before if I made the game. Marvel wouldn't even be a factor. Capcom vs Capcom Baybee

I'm also open for that too but we should know that it wouldn't sell very well comparing to other franchises. I was disappointed when they decide to shelved their Capcom All Stars project.

Marvel vs DC
developed by Arcsys
.

But seriously, I'd love to have another Marvel Super Heroes game. I always gravitate more towards the Marvel side of the roster in MvC games so I'd enjoy it.

I'd be open to both.

Viper as a character encapsulates the spirit of Marvel. Spammable moves, standing lows, multiple invulnerable attacks, unblockable setups, cancellable everything. As Marvel as it gets.

Low key, I'm kind of worried right now because UMvC3 had so many unique and quirkly playstyles with stuff like Viper, Ammy, MODOK, She-Hulk, Joe, etc. I just don't see the same this time around, especially because of the overlap with the UMvC3 cast and the loss of most of those quirky characters.

And, I know it's a net positive that this isn't the case anymore, but having the deficits that some characters had in MvC3 like not being able to self-OTG made for those fun moments where you could call Joe in as an assist to kick a bomb mid-combo, and by the time you combo them up and down, you'd time it just right so that the bomb would detonate and OTG them, and that's part of what made MvC always wild and unpredictable. MvC:I's devs seem to be increase the predictability of things in this game, reiterating that nobody could follow what was going on in MvC3 from a spectator's perspective, but, like any other sport or eSport, not only is having the additional knowledge to understand what is going on always going to be the case at high levels, it's part of the charm. Like Neonep said, the fan service has been lost in the sauce.

X is interesting, and Hunter, Ant-Man, and Gamora sound like they could end up pretty unique, but at best that's not making up for all that weird stuff that's been lost.

I agree. With MVC3, it just felt like a game that had way more passion put into it. From everything to quips with other characters, win quotes, voice acting, roster picks, the visual effects, character trailers, the communication they (mainly Seth, but still) had with fans prior to release and during it. Capcom went hard with MVC3.

I don't get anything close to the same feeling with MVCI. Hopefully that'll change when we see the final product.

Wait, are you telling me that you are upset by people not caring about C.Viper so you had to flip the table back by shitting on She-Hulk?

P.S. I owe you a gut punch.

If I had to use one word to describe Marvel 3, it would be passion. The game was a labour of love from top to bottom, from the character choices, to the stage designs, easter eggs, dialogue, voice acting... it's fucking beautiful.

It shocking to see how much of that is lacking in Infinite from what we've seen so far.

Bruh, I wanna get into a time machine and experience the Lupinko puzzles for UMVC3 again. Next to MVC3's announcement, those were easily the most fun and exciting days I've had without actually playing the damn game.

No speculation for any game after ever came close to matching the Lupinko hints.

My favourite part of UMvC3 hype cycle was Gamespot doing regular updates on what each character's alternate colors were referencing. From looks in the past in the comics, obscure games, and sometimes references to characters from the other side, it was just dope to see the reasoning and care put into something so small. That's crystallized fan service right there, and I don't think a lot of people cared about it at the time, but it really enriched the experience for me every single time I'd hit the character select.

I hope Gallery Mode is more than just unlocking artwork.
And hopefully nothing as trite as unlocking artwork. But I'm totally down for unlocking P2-6, or however many this game has, which I hope is a lot.

It's odd how the fact that the game is (supposedly) being developed in-house by veteran Vs. Series staff should be a cause for celebration, but instead it's been the opposite. I wonder how many of the major issues (graphics, roster, etc.) were under the developers' control. Obviously the roster was mostly out of their control for the Marvel side, but perhaps the graphics are too. There's also the chance that some character models were outsourced like they were for SF5, which would explain why most of the humanoid characters look odd on the Capcom side.

real shit.

those alt color reveals were so damn hype. pure fan service, and it's something so simple. Infinite ain't even trying.

To be fair, the only alts we've really seen in MvCI are X and Carol's second colors, which are both references to other stuff (X's is ProtoMan, Carol's is Binary).

You can tell the last interview must've gotten them into some shit. This is basically robot responses. "Yes", "no", "nothing to say at this time".

These were actually fan questions we sent over via email, so the responses are a little more to-the-point.

Ultron has a gold alt, which I presume is his Age of Ultron look (though he's probably rocked that color many times before).

Nova has a black/red alt that presumably references Quasar.

Thanos has a purple and silver alt, which's escaping me right now what it references. Thanos Imperative?
Darkseid?

Will there be any sort of character customization (mainly cosmetic customization)?
We have nothing to announce at this time.
Unlockable add-ons in the gallery? Why wouldn't they just say alternate colours and costumes?

COLOUR EDIT MODE?!

Is damage still measured by the absurdly high numbers of UMvC3?
No. Damage is much easier to keep track of and measure in MvC:I.
I liked this, though. They should have actually gone back even further and measured it in millions/billions or whatever it was beforehand.

Will the final story mode have different difficulties? Will there be in-game rewards for beating it at different levels?
Yes, there will be different difficulties. If a player his having a hard time with a particular fight, they'll be able to choose whether they want to lower the difficulty or not.
y u no answer in-game rewards question

Will the mission mode trials pertain to one character, or will there be two-character combos to try and learn?
The mission mode trials emphasize how to utilize each character's attacks and how they function within MvC:I. That said, as active switching is part of mastering your character within a team, there will be two-character trials present to give the player a taste of the infinite possibilities that are present.
This is neat.

As expected, the comments were about X-Men characters not being asked about.

Not like the questions would get answered, anyway.

Edit: Color Edit would be great.

Going back I'm actually kinda salty at the overall positive reception to Grandmaster Meio possibly being playable.
As a guy primarily in this series for the Capcom roster, his addition would just be a floppy-old-man dongslap in the face to me, considering he's probably the lamest choice for a Strider villain between him, Solo, Hien, and Tong-Pooh. I mean, in the first game, the dude is literally just a static sprite that sends bosses at you and dies in like a few seconds when you actually fight him, and he's not really all that more remarkable in the later ones (I mean maybe in Strider 2014? But it's still kinda generic final boss man material). And they're using one of the few precious original non-recycled movesets on him? Come ooooooooon.

I'd pretty much rather have any other Strider villain before him,

Especially because the best thing about Meio will be ruined/not included (his hammy dialogue and laugh)

Always a chance he's not playable, but sends one of his henchmen after Strider after you get the infinity stone from him and HE/SHE becomes playable later on

That was definitely one of many best parts about UMVC3 hype train.

Well, someone here mentioned that Capcom had a lot of new hires straight out of the college in fighting team at the moment.

Marvel 3 hype train was EONS beyond the Marvel Infinite hype train.

Even when we knew the characters in the roster via the Lupinko leaks, we still salivated for the reveal trailers.

Just got done watching the first Guardians of the Galaxy. It wasnt till now that I realized the gang had Ronan in an infinity storm at the end. LOL
