The Matsuno game I'm actually hyped for. Looks good, too. But I'm not great with Japanese so I won't waste a slot when someone who could enjoy it more could get it.

I was in the second Cygames announced this. They've been doing super well in the mobile space (GBF, Shadowverse, and Starlight Stage are all mmph).

Throw Matsuno and P* into the mix, and I'm there day -40. Signed up for the beta and hoping I get in!

I had no idea this was a thing. I really hope it comes to the West.

Platinum + Matsuno is like one of my fanboy dream scenarios.

Chances of being localized for the West?

Probably higher than most. It's a CyGames title, and they localized all their big ones into English, even when they don't actually release them in the US (like Granblue). It's a Platinum Games project, and pretty much all their games get localized. It's a Matsuno game, and pretty much all his games get loc-- you get the idea.

Was Shadowverse also a true translation like Granblue Fantasy, where JP and EN are on same servers ?

Hoping for this with Lost Order.

Yeah, I would be pretty surprised if it didn't come West. They even brought that Clash of Clans Yoshida game over, and that really had like zero chance to succeed.

Signed up, this looks super cool. Definitely down for a mobage that isn't sidescrolling or bejeweled.

Really not a fan of the world map/quest selection system though.

What sort of battle system does this have?

Real time strategy. From the looks of the screens, the UI, and based on dev comments, it looks to me like a simplified real-time with pause party system. Battles play out in realtime and characters auto attack engaged targets, but you also have active skills that can be used for each character.

We could not have Akihiko Yoshida game without some thigh. But to put it in the logo...

Ooooooh yeeeeaaaah. Now we're talkin'. I hope the scenario is good, this being Matsuno it should be, but I dunno, the art style seems a bit weaker than Yoshida's other work in the past. Not a single old grunt in the cast it looks like (they're all kids?) Normally his artwork is full of cool looking characters, here they seem a bit...generic. Shame about the lack of Hitoshi Sakimoto though.

I'll definitely get this if and when it comes out in English. Matsuno never lets me down (when he does release games). I've missed the guy.

Freemium? Are Cygames usually fair?
Not sure if any of these companies approach fair, but in my experience Cygames offers a large amount of content without IAP. I'm sure your favorite character will be locked behind Gatcha Slave Whales Anonymous tier RNG, but progression itself can be accomplished without selling your house. If its like Granblue though it'll be a full time job.

Is there a chance Yoshida is not the actual character designer?

Yeah, possibly since it's his studio doing the art (he collaborated on Nier: Automata with Yuya Nagai, an artist in his employ), he could be doing the art direction and be letting one of his juniors do it? Guess we'll find out. It's definitely his weakest work if it is him though. Real generic designs. Massive step down from the likes of Vagrant Story and Tactics Ogre.

Yoshida is the main character designer, but like most of his projects these days he is not the only character designer. There are a bunch of other designers on the project, including Cygames illustrator Taro Kagawa, who designed some of the supporting characters. The main four leads are all Yoshida art under Matsuno's tight supervision.

Heyoooo! Necro bump.

Looks like beta test emails are out! I got mine and just DL'd the beta app on iOS.

I'll be playing on an iPhone 7 Plus. Beta opens up in a few hours, so I gotta sleep, but I'm looking forward to giving this a spin! I love GBF and everyone involved in this, so.
