Binding of the Isaac (Switch) launching in Europe on 14/09 ... for certain ... maybe

You remember this game?

It launched in the US on March 13 already. In Europe, it's going to be published by Headup Games and was originally announced for a release in Q2 2017. Then it was delayed from 28/06 to 21/07 to 17/08.

Now the French distributor of the game, Just for Games, tweeted out a new date: 14/09.

Il a été repoussé, mais il arrivera bel et bien le 14 septembre cette fois ci car la fabrication est lancée ! #IsaacIsComing #hodoors

It was delayed, but it will arrive on September 14 as production has started this time! #IsaacIsComing #hodoors

So now we are just waiting for Headup Games to bring Cave Story and Redout over, potentially next year. Headup Games is also releasing the PS4 version of Binding of the Isaac: Afterbirth + in Europe.

In before a million people coming in and say the switch is region free.
Regional support and localisation is important but they really need to get on with having better EU support with nicalis titles.

Maturity, bitches.
Much prefer the original NA cover.

Also, we don't even get the extra gubbins like the manual right?

By the time we get Nicalis' whole catalogue we'll all be playing on the Switch 2.

Also I love the quote "as production has started this time!" like they've had it ready for ages, but just kept forgetting to start.

Base have had the US version in stock for ages for those in the UK wanting it sooner, also have Cave Story

The game is excellent and wouldn’t be as excellent without Nicalis.

Doesn't change facts, just like "fuck atlus/sega" in europe is still mostly valid.
It's not about the quality of the games, but them doing as if this continent didn't exist when they're not localizing it in another language anyway.

I mean, yeah, the game is good, but Nicalis completely shafting Europe over and over, even when they have someone else distribute the game for them, kinda stains it.

Yeah, Nicalis has shown time after time that they don't care a bit about Europe.
I've been waiting for this game since the release of the Switch and I'll have waited 6 moths when it releases.
This is Atlus-like.

I wonder if it will be the same deal with the EU release for PS4 (which Headup Games also is the publisher of). People with a Switch, can you get it digitally in EU now, or is that tied with the physical release?

It is tied to the physical release. We can just make a US account, but that's beside the problem.

Some people want a physical version though. And Nicalis has a hard time selling their games to some European publisher if the games have already launched digitally.

English only afaik.

But this isn't the first time Nicalis has done things like this. They clearly can't handle managing operations outside the US.

Are the versions published bei Just For Games different than other EU releases? They often seem to be way cheaper (e.g. Victor Vran, Axiom Verge).

Yeah, Nicalis acting like countries outside the US don't exist is nothing new. It never stops being frustrating though, especially when they somehow got the rights to Cave Story and BoI, two of the greatest games in recent memory.

Not to mention their shitty online presence that outright ignores any tweet or question regarding this stuff, and chooses only to reply to/retweet complimentary posts. It's been like this for years, it's beyond annoying.

Fuck Nicalis.

Awful management and terrible cover art.

Thankfuly I will be able to download the US cover art and replace the european one.

EDIT: european kirby is hardcore now.

In case of Axiom Verge and BotI they are the same games, for Victor Vran it might be something different, not sure.

Headup Games just send out PM confirming the release dates for its upcoming games. Binding of Isaac Switch is listed as 7th September (PS4 version is tba).

Other Switch dates (all of them are digital-only, I believe):
Slime-san: August
Earth Atlantis: Q3
Panzer Party: October

It also lists the date for a bunch of other Switch games as tba, I'm not sure if all of those games have been confirmed to release on Switch previously.

KryptCrawler
Slime-san: Blackbird's Kraken
SEUM: Speedrunners from Hell
Trulon: The Shadow Engine
Bridge Constructor Stunts
The Inner World: Der letzte Windmönch
Super Blackjack Battle II Turbo Edition
Hero Defense

I mean, they're kinda shafting everyone over because digital buyers pay the same price as retail. Who asked for retail BoI? It's nice and all, but doesn't justify jacking up the price for everybody else.

The whole BoI package cost the same price than on any other platforms (so, around 36$). The problem is that they don't let you buy expansions separately.

KryptCrawler is a VR games. I think they messed up their PR with the tba listings. They perhaps just put that down when they didn't know for certain.

BoI:R is 15 euros and the expansion is 11. Doesn't quite add up to 36 last I checked. Switch owners don't get the soundtrack.

That threw me off as well, but it wouldn't particularly surprise me if they are working on a non-VR version.

Shouldn't it be more accurate to say "fuck Head Up Games" instead of fuck Nicalis ? Honest question.

I'm kinda mad at that delay, but it seems that european distributor is one big fucking incompetent joke more like it ?

I wonder how updates are going to be handled for the European releases, if at all. Since Headsup is the publisher, they're likely going to submit a EU SKU for the Switch eShop that will be different from the BoI and Cave Story released here in the US.

Did they say if the version of Cave Story+ Europe is getting will have 2-player, original graphics, and additional soundtrack options?

You can pre-order it everywhere for 35€, so that price is definitely strange.

Nintendo UK store prices are always above other options like Amazon etc, they put stuff up at the RRP where Amazon etc never do.

Worth noting that the Nintendo UK store prices always match the eShop price, though, so it will be £39.99 on the UK eShop. Thank god for region free.
