The people rehabilitating them aren't usually at risk. It's the kids they pose a threat to once they're out on the street again. Theres been heaps of cases where sex offenders have refused any councelling and treatment programs offered while in prison. Once let out they went straight back to raping kids.

Would you want these people supposedly rehabilitated around your kids because a psychiatrist deems them low/medium/high risk?

Wow, i completely missed the thread about this. I remember him for being a very vocal, opinionated mod and of course for the infamous incident where he abused his mod status to stealthily edit years old posts to "win" an argument or something. To get back into the limelight in this way is quite something to say the least, but i guess with communities this large, there are bound to be quite a few bad apples. It's just surprising when it's someone fairly prominent.

What's not shocking though is often the community and the victim and family are shocked they are being released in the first place.
Being labelled as medium/high risk re-offenders doesn't prevent them from being released because they served the sentenced time although some exceptions are made. They're then societys problem which means more pedos back on the street at the cost of childrens safety.

You use a program called TOR, which allows you to access data otherwise unavailable (colloquially .onion sites). Once you are in the TOR internet, you basically have access to all normal internet + onion sites, which are hard to find because crawler search engines cannot find them. What you usually do is find a reference site (for example, use duckduckgo to find a text dump that contains addresses to onion sites) and try to find what you want, though 99% of darknet sites are password protected.

I almost applied for this very job a few years back. Couldn't get past the application form and the description of the job.

These people have regular mental health checks and counselling due to the content. Was trying for a kid myself at the time and I just noped right out of there.

Don't know about the therapists, but I'm sure I've seen a documentary on TV about the police units that investigate these websites and pedo rings and they get therapy because of all the disgusting images they have to see.
