Loving the new TOD on Seaside also shadow pop in on trees is much improved. I don't notice it on Nurburgring anymore whereas it was grossly apparent before.

Oh heck yeah. I haven't seen updated footage from Nurb yet, but that's great to hear.

Edit: I've def gotta check it out myself. The foliage pop-in had been an eyesore.

It was not the case in GT5-6 and it does not look like GTS will be any different.

I hope it's the same but that's just a drive-through...it looked pretty much set. Saying that I'm sure the FIA wouldn't allow for 'sleight-of-hand' like that in a sanctioned race either.

Hilarious. That flyer is like a little kid straight out of CARS.

Have you seen how Microsoft show cases Forza?

It appears Gran Turismo is like the red headed step child who gets ignored by the parents. GT cant even get a proper showcase let alone an E3 trailer during the show, instead they show it during the preshow LOL
Usually the launch is a massive deal. For the last couple of games Kaz has launched in Spain with a big fanfare. I imagine it'll be the same this year.

GT4 (PCSX2 in 4K) vs GT6 (Photomode) vs GTS (Gameplay)

I don't have a capture card so I couldn't take gameplay shots of GT6. The GTS ones are from Snake206 from gtplanet.

Apparently the beta ends July 16. Bummer.

Man thats sad and good at the same time.

Sad because I wont get to see some good races online for a while, but good because we might hear about another beta opening up soon with more features or maybe (hopefully) a release date.

I'm surprised how well GT4 holds up albeit its upscaled. GT5 and 6 are still very damn impressive to me too.

I was lucky enough to get into the closed beta. Really looking forward to the finished product but it's made me realise I need something....

A force feedback racing wheel

I've been looking at the Logitech G29 which can be picked up relatively cheap at the moment or the Thrustmaster T300 RS GT, though that is much more than the G29.

Anyone with knowledge about which to get would be appreciated. Should I save up a bit more and get the thrustmaster or is it overkill?

I'm not a massive racer but would probably get more involved, especially with all the driving games this year.

Shame that they still can't seem to be able to up the shadow quality this gen. Hopefully we'll get much higher resolution shadows coupled with PCSS (or similar techniques) next gen. Driveclub does contact hardening shadows for the photomode and it looks terrific - I can only imagine how good that might look in real time.

For visual reference, here's a comparison between high resolution soft shadows vs Nvidia PCSS (GTA IV)

The Division has a much better, similar technique (Nvidia HFTS) on PC, too, but I remember that really proving a torture on all but the highest end hardware.

I'm also looking at upgrading my wheel with all the racing games coming out this year. I currently have the Logitech Driving Force GT. Having done some research, I'm going to opt for the T300.

In your case it depends on whether you're going to be constantly racing with a wheel. If you only see yourself dragging out the wheel a couple of times, go for the G29 since its on the cheaper side. If you're gonna be buying all these upcoming racing games and are looking to play them more in the future with a wheel and somewhat competitively, go for the T300.

If you're getting a T300, make sure you get the T3PA pedal set with it at least. If you want to push it, the better pedal set to go for are the T3PA Pros.
