The problem the Mario & Luigi games are going to have going forward is that Alpha Dream already struggled to scale up to 3DS level hardware and Switch is a massive leap over that.

Those other things are what almost got me to a buy a JRPG in which I had zero interest in ever fighting a single battle. So that's pretty impressive feat lol

I just figured me buying those games would indicate that I want those type of Paper Mario games, and I most certainly do not, so I never do lol

But Mario & Luigi DTB was a quite good looking game on 3DS, and it was the most ambitious entry (lasted me around 40hours while Superstar Saga was half that). I don't think the hardware was the problem.

yeah, they're obviously going to need help from somewhere. Or a lot of hiring

But if they don't screw up, M&L will go back to being one the best selling JRPGs in the current market again.
So if you can get a JRPG selling 4-5 million (again), it's probably worth a extra resources you'd think.

he's saying they struggled as in needed help programming. Mainly just the 3D battles iirc.

The 3DS games had to be co-developed by Vanpool if I'm not mistaken.

First time I've heard of Vanpool and Wikipedia says that they only worked on Superstar Saga (and Sticker Star). But Good Feel is listed as a co-developper of Dream Team Bros, that I didn't know.

On the other hand, not buying them could discourage Nintendo from ever making Paper Mario games again.

It really feels like we can't win with them. Hopefully they just come to their senses like they did with Metroid.

Yeah Dream Team(from what I can tell) is considered average at best. SS, Partners in Time and Bowser's Inside Story are amazing.

This makes me feel better for not loving it.

Paper Mario is basically the only series I'm incredibly petty with, so if that did happen... Oh well? Not gonna force myself to buy something I don't like lol

Oh no, I wasn't trying to imply that you should. Just saying that it seems like nothing we do can stray Nintendo away from the ideology of 'we already have M&L as a Mario RPG so what's the point of Paper Mario being an RPG?'

Which I mean, that line of thinking is already out the window since Mario + Rabbids exists, but whatever.

The game saw a Western release in October (Europe) / November (US), so Western launch + post-launch sales are already counted there.

Root Letter launched in June 2016 in the rest of Asia.

Wonder if those numbers include PS+ downloads lol.

What do shortages in the past have to do with price cuts now? Do you not recall the stories of frustrated Japanese owners not being able to get PSVR and the sporadic shipments?

I was specifically reffering to the west with that comment. I find it hard to believe every unit was flying off the shelves when a couple of weeks later retailers had to eat some margin to move hardware.

PS+ downloads are not sales and never get counted as them

What a cynic stance to take by some of you, trying to look for a way to discredit official numbers given by a publisher when we only get hard data about one country in the whole world.

I guess Rayark should continue striking while the iron is hot.

They have a few more mobile games they could port to Switch, I don't know if they're good.

Cytus (Rhythm game)
Deemo (Rhythm game)
Mandora (Casual game according to Google Play listing)

PREDICTION LEAGUE DRAGON QUEST XI EDITION

Predict how much these titles will sell in the week (from Jul 24 to Jul 30):

[PS4] PlayStation 4 Hardware (7 days) - 105.000
[3DS] Nintendo 3DS Hardware (7 days) - 80.000
[PS4] Dragon Quest XI (2 days) - 855.000
[3DS] Dragon Quest XI (2 days) - 1.125.000

The problem the Mario & Luigi games are going to have going forward is that Alpha Dream already struggled to scale up to 3DS level hardware and Switch is a massive leap over that.

the games rely on funny writing and a relatively frenetic battle system rather than shiny graphics. they will be fine.

Deemo is the most obvious (and the one i want) seeing as it already has a vita port.

Hmm... so looks like MC has been consistently on the low side with Switch sales. Meanwhile, whatever formula Famitsu is using really exarcerbates sales increases. Though I assume it's only because of the non-stop shortages, I assume things will normalise once we have steady Switch shipments.

The Japanese Super Mario Odyssey site looks neat.

Cock as in chicken or...?

If it's the former, I can understand the machine preferring that.

If it's the latter, the machine has a dirty mind.

That's quite good for the two Nintendo titles, especially with Monday being a public holiday. I assume shipment wasn't too big for either titles, though.

100% Pascal Sensei looks pretty meh... like the game itself, tbh.

100% Pascal will have hard time to reach that 100% sell-through. lol

Man, that looks interestingly cheap, how is the game for that price GAF? All I know is that it's a 2D Souls-like.

Next week the Summer holidays start (week 29, so not next week thread, but the following one), so sales should start to improve (for leggy games).

So soon? I thought it was the last week of July. Oh well, certainly makes the upcoming weeks even more interesting. Will change from the dead desert of May and June.

There's not going to be bomba bins for either, unless Nintendo shipped an insane amount of copies (in which case 40% Day 1 would be awesome). Not with summer holidays just around the corner (unless word of mouth is extremely poor, but that'd be surprising since both games seem to have pretty positive reception, even the "maligned" Arzest-developed Hey! Pikmin).

Yep, Monday is off for Ocean Day, and then my school at least starts summer vacation on the 22nd. Just in time for Splatoon 2 and DQ11.
