Whilst I am sure many players do, not all pad players are like that!

Oh, some are definitely a lot better than others, but unfortunately I think twitchiness is inevitable unless there's some artificial smoothing going on. 900 degrees of wheel rotation translated into 10mm of thumbstick movement is asking for trouble. Especially if the pad player is a Tapper.

It's essential if they want to sell the game on console, if they wanted to keep it wheel only, then they should have forgotten about a console release and left it on PC.

I see a bit of PC elitism rearing it's ugly head.

I don't think that's the case. I guess more people have wheels on PC than on consoles but I bet there's still a healthy proportion of pad players on PC too.

I wonder what the demographic actually is?

Sounds bad, i know, and this is coming from a GT fan who spent more than a decade on Playstation only.

I guess it´s just and old man ranting because of how much time they have to spend trying to find this balance. As a personal experience, i feel like the pad handling on GT games, for instance, is getting harder and harder. GT1was super easy on the analog sticks, GT6 was almost impossible IMO, with some cars.

The more realism you put into the game, the harder it gets to translate into a pad.

Don´t take it as the usual PC Sim racing annoying guy, because i´ve been dependent on the pad for more than 10 years before i got a wheel.

I just think some simulation aspects can never be translated properly to the pad without a heavy dose artificial filtering.

I would imagine that the proliferation of wheels on console is very small.

I play most of my racing games on PC, with the exception of Forza, and use a pad. I have a DFGT but I dont tend to use it because I don't have the right setup or space for a setup. Although I'm looking at making the move into a using a wheel and getting a dedicated space and setup. I've been playing racing games for the best part of 2 decades now so its only right that I make that jump and now seems the right time to do it since all these good racing games are coming out.

That being said, I feel like I'm quite competent at handling with a pad with all assists off. Its hard, sure, and I know that I'll be seconds off a wheel user and probably a bit of a nuisance as I don't have that fine degree of control.

Having watched only 30 seconds, that guy is SUPER SCARED to drive the car and it's because he doesn't trust himself to catch any breaking out of the rear. Not a good example. [and yes, I know that this car does 4 bar boost and is not easy to drive, but this guy is "scared"]
You should watch my face when I'm driving this car with a wheel, lol.

Has anything been mentioned about how the career mode works this time round?, more of the same thing that was in PC1?

What about other modes?, anything like the special challenges that AC has?

GREAT, I will buy this game for oval racing alone, its a shame the newer nascars ain't in tho! indy 500 anyone, i can't wait!

Oh yea. They had me at Indy 500.

That track list is incomplete, it only goes to S.

On GTPlanet you have a better version: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/project-cars-2-track-list.353682/

Things like Zolder are already confirmed and they don´t show up on carthrottle´s list.

Anyways, they are releasing the track list later on this week, so we will know soon enough.

Nice! It gets even better. Now if Sony and Fanatec can work out their beef and get the CSL Elite released, I'll be all set.

I just realized that there is only ONE(??) Ferrari in that car list picture??

I've also heard about two more road legal Porsches to be in pCARS2.

Haven't counted the cars in the pic, but is that all?
The two announced DLC packs don't have Ferraris or that Porsche in them either.

I don't think that's all.

According to this list on GTPlanet, there are at least 7 Ferraris. Quite varied too.

There are many more Ferraris to be announced and over 190 cars in total (ex-DLC).

Ok, cool!

Honestly, I would have been ok with that car list already! It has many old cars (don't like it when the focus is too much on cars post 2010), as long as the physics are right and the track count, ToD and weather is good and varied as promised.
I was just asking since there weren't so many new ones and to have only one Ferrari seemed weird - especially when Ferrari and Aston Martin are now probably the hardest to obtain licenses after Porsche went non-exclusive this year.

(Most of) The Cars:

Some models are yet to be revealed, but it's a remarkably comprehensive roster.

My only gripe is that the LMP1 field is a bit lacking, (half of it being #FAKECARS no less). There's always potential DLC to fill out the ranks, but it's a bummer that the R18 TDI and Lola-Aston B09/60 from the first game went MIA.
I don't think that's all.

I'm still pretty on the fence about this game, but this is a pretty impressive and diverse selection of race cars and disciplines, even moreso than I picked up from interviews.

I know it's not the focus of the game and thus something that's hard to ask for, but I would have loved a better selection of road cars.

Afaik road cars have by far the biggest roster with over 50 cars.

I think that's the first console footage I've seen of pCARS 2. Looks solid!
It sure does. PC will be the 'best' version but I doubt console owners will be crying into their pillows.

Hope pCARS 2 brings all the elements together to make a sublime sim.

It is, nobody seems to have noticed in the comments. But the PS4 version is coming along nicely, still a lot of work to do in stabilising the frame rate in night conditions but this build is a couple of months old. PS4 Pro boost mode should come in handy for you there.

Are we not expecting this to have native Pro support?

Not for me - I've joined the PC Master Race.
:p

Your comments about why you originally felt the joypad controls to feel odd (ie caused by a laggy display) need highlighting Alan - a lot of people still have doubts that SMS really have fixed this.

It beggars belief that this wasn't thoroughly checked by them (or BN) on the rigs you were using at that event. It should really have been the first thing they checked as it was one of the biggest complaints about the first game.

The floodgates have opened and WMD2 members now have carte blanche to show anything in the current build, so there are a LOT of new videos being released.

Rather than list them all here is a link to the GTP pCARS 2 Video Thread which will be constantly updated:

Sure, I mentioned in the original video I played it on a giant 4k screen, then went back a week later, played it on a normal monitor and it felt completely different. Spoke to a community manager, he found this screen unplayable for Tekken, and mentioned it had chronic input lag. When I went back, re-recording wasn't possible, so I was stuck with the slower laps from the laggy screen. I then went and played the full game and found a massive improvement on the cars I tested, though some cars still need serious work.

I've read quite a few reports about the massive improvement to the pad handling so I just hope Joe Public doesn't pre judge it based on the first game.

Proof is in the pudding, we'll know for sure when we get the final game but based on what I've experienced, massive steps have been made.

Now that the floodgates are open, is there anything anyone wants to see?

And in the meantime here are some unedited (besides scaling 4K to 1080) shots:

EDIT: As per WMD requirements I should note that this is still a WIP game shown in these shots.
