Just got off the phone on Portman's office and left a message. I guess its kind of late now but even when I've called earlier in the day I've never gotten a real person. Is that normal for a Senator's office?

I was at a Q&A with Tom Carper last week, and someone asked him what the hardest thing he had done as a politician was.

His response was "saying good-bye to my three ex-wives." (well, before his actual response)

He's a funny dude, a real great guy.

Well, 1 vote down, 99 to go.

If he's telling the truth, then tomorrow is it.

But given that McCain can't physically be here before... noon on Wednesday (assuming Cornyn flies out there right the hell now, 4-ish hours of transit, then 38 hours nonstop drive back), then they don't have the votes without Collins and Murkowski, and the motion fails to pass.

I wonder if McConnell's promised Paul he can have his repeal vote, and i wonder if Paul believed him.

We're not going to talk politics today.

I call it the sewer

They better vote for the Obamacare repeal tomorrow.

Donald Trump talking about obamacare at the boy scout jamboree? Good times.

I'm sure the script is perfectly normal! But just a script rarely matters.

lol @ Trump boasting about his big crowd size of kids that are largely forced to attend this speech if at the event.

Dude you KNOW that wasn't my point. He misspoke, its not relevant to the discussion, and just makes him look dumb on some low hanging fruit shit where there are real issues to address.

Its not a big deal either way.

The President's level of knowledge is absolutely relevant. The media's job isn't to make the President look smart or competent. They need to report what he says. This was a prepared remark at a high profile event pertaining to an incredibly important bill.

Stop grading on a curve.

My Republican dad *still* talks about that.

Uh... Trump is telling a story of the business past of one of his old ..... you know what. Whatever.

"Work hard, kids, maybe sell your company and get rich, buy a yacht and do dubious things on it that are so unsavory that I cannot speak them to the Boy Scouts, then buy your company back and go bankrupt, and meet Donald Trump at a party and admit you fucked up bad." Yes. That's the story.

And now talk about his surprising election victory.

When you watch speeches like this it's not hard to see why some people think there's something wrong with him medically.

WaPo: Trump leaves Sessions twisting in the wind while berating him publicly

https://goo.gl/LKo59C

Washington Post said:
President Trump and his advisers are privately discussing the possibility of replacing Attorney General Jeff Sessions, and some confidants are floating prospects who could take his place were he to resign or be fired, according to people familiar with the talks.

Members of Trump’s circle, including White House officials, have increasingly raised the question among themselves in recent days as the president has continued to vent his frustration with the attorney general, the people said.

Replacing Sessions is seen by some Trump associates as potentially being part of a strategy to fire special counsel Robert S. Mueller III and end his investigation into whether the Trump campaign coordinated with the Kremlin to influence the 2016 election, according to the people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to comment publicly.

...

Among the names being floated as possible Sessions replacements are Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) and former New York City mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani, according to people familiar with the conversations.

Good lord, those potential picks.

There's no chance McCain comes back to vote yes for the HC bill, right? That would be the absolute worst possible thing right now, for both the country and his reputation.

Edit: LOL Ted Cruz as Attorney General? Oh man that would be hilarious.

And Rudy already said, "Nah."

Ted Cruz will be confirmed 98-0 because his colleagues hate him.

I wonder what would be easier for the Democrats to win, an open seat in Texas, or against Cruz

There's no way he gets the okay to fly, and there isn't enough time left to drive him from Arizona to DC.

I see Ted Cruz focusing more on promoting "religious freedom" laws (i.e., letting Christians discriminate against everyone else) moreso than embarking on a crusade against black people.

What an improvement.

Would Cruz still want to perpetually suck Trump's dick by accepting the AG role? Would he really not want revenge? Is he that spineless?

EDIT: In seriousness, Cruz would hopefully be smart enough to know to stay away. If he takes it, he's even more politically dead than he is now and probably will end up getting caught up in something that leads to him going to jail.
