IT - Official Trailer 1

to be honest, I liked the previous teasers more. This one seemed a bit too "BOO THIS IS SCARY FEEL SCARED BOO JUMPSCARE HA HA GOT YA"

The movie looks good but the generic horror trailer editing makes it come across more silly than it probably is. I love the way Pennywise sounds in this.

Still looks shit to me, Pennywise looks terrible and it seems as reliant on jump scares as most other modern horror films

Kind of agree, but I'm still unreasonably hyped.

Pennywise in the refrigerator was pretty damn cool.

I also read that part 2 is expected to film early next year, so it seems like they're going forward with it on the assumption that this will be a success.

I don't get complaining about jump scares in a trailer.

it's a trailer.

The general conceit of rhythmic editing paired with rhythmic scoring - when you're dealing with a horror movie it just makes sense that if you're going to make your commercial for the movie resemble a musical short film (which is basically the norm in movie marketing now) using a jump scare/loud noise as that punctuation is the right call.

Horror films are going to have jump scares. IT is going to have jump scares. Their presence isn't an automatic demerit. It's part of the genre.

alright im fully on board for this one. that looked great.

are we also gunna retread the conversation about the rape in the book? It happened, King regrets it and wishes he could've thought of something better, i doubt its in the new film as it wasn't even in the tv movie. time to move past it, its been discussed to death at this point.

The first trailer was so much better. This one makes the movie look like a CGI mess. Perfect example of showing vs telling. The voiceover was corny.

Okay, I've not read the book in like 20 years, but even though feel I remember it pretty well, I can't figure out which scene you are referring to?

Every thread about IT eventually circles around to King's decision to have the Losers engage in a group sex session in the Derry sewers as a means to harness/channel their power.

I imagine the scene where they all take turns on...what's her name? Something Marsh. Kate?

Edit: No. Kate Marsh is Life is Strange. Fucked if I remember.

Okay I guess. Even gifs from the original still creep me out and bring back bad memories unlike that trailer though.

The explanation is that Pennywise terrorizes first to "salt" the meat.

I think I remember that. It's been a while since I read the book. I know he outrights rips that one boy's head off when he takes the form of the creature from the black lagoon.

Also, there are deaths talked about after the fact, like that 2 year old being drowned in a toilet. I guess he could've been in his clown getup at that point.

The teaser was better but I'm excited.

My first exposure to IT was on a VHS tape we picked up at a gas station on a road trip. Had a VHS/TV in the van to keep us kids busy. Must have watched it 3 or 4 times before we realized their was an entire 2nd half with them as adults.

Hoping this is successful enough that we'll get the 2nd half, even though the 1st (at least in the mini series) was far better.

I always cringe when thinking about that scene in the book.

I read the book when I was fairly young and it definitely jarred me enough to be the first thing I remember whenever I think of the property. Jokes aside, I'm glad they went in another direction with it...no way could they pull that off in this medium.
