Just received an email

£49.99 per year
£19.99 for 3 months
£6.99 per month

PlayStation®Plus prices are changing
From 00:01 BST on 31 August 2017 we are changing the prices of PlayStation®Plus.

- Annually, the price will change from £39.99 to £49.99 per annum.
- Quarterly, the price will change from £14.99 to £19.99 per quarter.
- Monthly, the price will change from £5.99 to £6.99 per month.

What this means for you

We will alter the price of a PlayStation®Plus membership at 00:01 BST on 31 August 2017. As you are an existing member, this means that all recurring subscription fees payable by you on or after 31 August 2017 will be charged at the new price. Up until 31 August 2017, you may purchase a PlayStation®Plus subscription at the current price, which will then be added (or ”stacked on") to your current membership period.

If you don't want to continue with PlayStation®Plus

If you want to prevent your PlayStation®Plus membership continuing at the new price, you will need to cancel it – turn OFF ”auto-renew" in your account settings at least 48 hours before your next payment on or after 31 August 2017 is due. There's some guidance on how to cancel your membership on PlayStation.com.

I hope Sony has some sort of improvements to the service lined up to justify the price increase
not likely, I know

Edit: Prices increasing in other regions too:

Sweden:

Year: 480 SEK to 575 SEK
3 months: 189 SEK to 235 SEK
Month: 65 SEK to 75 SEK

This is also happening to Australians,

1 month - 6,99€ to 7,99€

For the player.

I'm thinking about switching over the the HK PS+, because EU is certainly not worth it.

Same applies to Europe. Just got a confirmation from the dutch side of things:

I just bought 15 months for around £33 using that recent deal and discounted PSN cards, don't think i'll be topping up after that.

I suppose that this had to happen eventually, sadly, especially with how badly our currency is doing. I'm glad that I have plenty of years stacked, and then a couple more in unredeemed cards!

It also went up by the same amount last year, with no rhyme or reason as to why.
Not in the UK.

This.

Is was already more expensive than xbl at most places. Now it's vastly more expensive and I struggle to justify it now. 25% price hike...
Most places it's the same sub £40 12 month cards, being tenner more expensive than live going forward though will mean they have to justify it unless live goes up as well.

Hahahaha no thanks Sony. Luckily I have squirrelled away years of plus membership from the recent deals. I hope everyone jumped on the £30 year subs during e3.

Not in the UK.

Explain the price rise everywhere else then.At first I thought it was due to the value of the pound dropping, but now I'm not so sure.

Same here. I am good until 2019. Still I would like to know why. Do we actually get an improved service for this? Who am I kidding, they are just doing it because they can now that it's mandatory for online play.

I rarely play online and its been months since I really got much out of Instant Game Collection. This price change is a handy reminder for me to turn my auto renew off.

Unless they're going to chuck in something meaningful on the PSNow front....

But guys...it's for the players. Think about all the new awesome features and plus games this will get us!!!

This is disgraceful. Didn't they penalise quarterly payers with a price rise last year too?

Obviously Sony doesn't feel like it's making enough profit, what with the best selling current gen console and all.

Fuck off Sony. Might try seeing how decently my laptop can run overwatch and cancel if it's acceptable. Fuck paying for online and the other services really haven't been worth it for me this gen

This will mean a new wave of improvements and amazing free games available on Playstation® Plus™

I can't wait to pay more to experience the only network truly made 4 the players™!

I have Plus for many more months (probably into early 2018), but I just reserved a card for €47.99 on Argos Ireland. I might buy it, I dont know. Meh.

woof, yeah I think this is straw that broke the camels back for me. I'm tired of building this faux-library of stuff I don't actually own with an active sub being the ransom note.
