[Rumor] New Persona Dancing Game to Also Be Announced Soon, Official Domain Updated

Really wondering what this might be for, PQ2 is definetly 3DS, but there's no chance Atlus releases a Vita game in 2017/2018.

PS4 makes the most sense I guess.

PS4/Vita is usually the way these releases go... no reason to believe this won't also happen here yet given how well the franchise has fared on both platforms.

TBH, my issue with the spinoffs is that they really flanderized the cast in them, even though I can watch/play them nonstop, its like comfort junk food.

This is my beef with the spinoffs. The characters don't even feel like themselves anymore. It's like they swapped out the original cast with dopplegangers who only want to talk about how great friendship is.

As far as a new dance games goes, I can't really feel all that excited for it even if P4DAN was decent. P4DAN could've been a lot of fun had they treated the story like a complete joke and went overboard with camp. Instead they tried to pass off that "POWER OF DANCE AND FRIENDSHIP!!!" garbage with a straight face.

Then there was the gameplay itself, which was okay at best. The big offender to me was the track list - not that much music to start with, several of the stages were remixes of the same song, etc. Going from P4DAN to Superbeat Xonic and Theatrhythm: Curtain Call was an eye opener.

I really don't know how to feel about this. First, Dancing All Night kind of played like shit next to all the other stellar Vita rhythm games. And it's not like the other platforms are going to be any easier to compete on; Switch already has two rhythm games, for example. Someone really needs to teach Atlus about the existence of swing notes, or a Dancing All Night successor is going to be dead in the water as far as I'm concerned.

Second, Dancing All Night's story had some redeeming qualities (mostly the middle section where
Dojima, Nanako and Kanami got nearly all the screen time
) but the rest of it was a poor retread of Persona 4's themes at best, and outright embarrassing at worst. Finally, I'm not at all convinced that Persona 5's soundtrack, as cool as it is, can support a rhythm game the way P3 and P4 could. I feel like the strengths of the soundtrack are more in its chill atmosphere; I think it'll be harder to repurpose a lot of it for the dancefloor. On the other hand, they did manage to remix "Heaven" in a way that worked for the game, so maybe anything's possible.

I want to be excited for this, but Dancing All Night was clearly the worst of all the P4 spinoffs, and I don't even like fighting games.

EDIT: Also, (Persona 5 spoilers)
I hope Atlus doesn't take the lazy way out and retcons the disappearance of palaces/shadows, or finds some other goofy way to bring them back. I'd actually be way more into a P5:DAN if the gang just happened to get back together and decided to enter a dance competition because why not.

A distinction needs to be made between PQ's style of flanderization and Arena's.

PQ:

P4A:

remember when that fic author had yu and adachi team up like they were BFFs and do some kind of izanagi fusion on top of totally-not-tartarus to teach their edgelord OC about friendship? what the fuck.

The former knows it's a campy story about Persona characters acting silly and the game's tone/writing reflects that. The latter desperately tries to tell this epic story about Persona characters and fails in every regard because the writing is terrible.

I don't know why anybody wouldn't want there to be a P5D. You don't have to play it. Just listen to those sweet remixes.

Exactly. I got various Persona 4 Dancing songs on my phone. Haven't played the game. Thanks SoundCloud!

Wasn't really impressed with P5's OST so I'm hoping P5D will bring good songs.

I bought a new vita and haven't played P4D

Should I....... HOW THE HELL THEY ARE CHARGING 40 BUCKS FOR THIS?

FIX THIS SHIT ATLUS
Hmm. I remember getting it at Gamestop for like $20 last Christmas season. Haven't seen a physical Vita game since.

If you can get it cheaper, it's pretty fun imo. The story is mindbogglingly awful, but this is obviously the type of game you play for the music. And my god does Persona 4 have great music.

P5 is gonna be milked to death like P4, really can't blame them though. Strike while the iron is hot.

I'm excited, for PQ2. I dunno about another dancing game though.

Edit: While on the topic of Persona spin offs, another persona fighting game by ASW isn't really appealing to me. Didn't really like playing BlazBlu, or P4A or Ultimax. I would still buy it because it would probably be in the style of Guilty Gear and that new DBZ game. It would look amazing.

Obviously this means they'll also announce Persona 6.
Probably unlikely since it's only been about a year since they wrapped up Persona 5, but it'd definitely be nice to see a title reveal just to confirm that it's currently in development. We can then look forward to playing it on our PS5s in 2025.

Eh, i'll take it over a Q 2, though I wish the Persona 2 duology got more spinoff love aside Dancing's DLC.

I need tatsuya in his red jacket and maya and crew in the background. Make it a dream event or something but they really need some recognition.

I wouldn't count on P6 being announced anytime soon. Last I heard they were still hiring new staff because they felt the current P-Studio wouldn't be able to produce a worthy follow-up to P5 after its main creative force went on to build Studio Zero.
Maybe they could surprise us but I'm not getting my hopes up.
