Senate Republicans to make another attempt at Obamacare repeal

What the hell are they going to do with the budget? Are they just throwing this year's budget aside as a casualty for healthcare?

They already passed a 2017 budget. Passing that was what allowed them to create reconciliation instructions that allowed ACA reform to take place under reconciliation. They're looking to pass the 2018 budget because that will allow them to create reconciliation instructions to craft a tax cuts bill, which is what they want to use their 2018 reconciliation bill on.

The key is that the budget is just a plan for spending, while they have to actually pass appropriations bills to actually provide funding. This is why everyone's discussing NDAA, because that's the defense appropriations bill and is the key thing to making sure that defense operations actually get funded.

I fully believe we can take the house, It won't be easy, but it won't be too hard either. If they go forth with their plan for a populist 50 state message, we have a decent chance of getting House majority and that alone would be enough harm to Trump's agenda.

Gubernatorial Elections are also heavily in the Democrats' favor.

Darker colors are incumbents that can run for re-election, lighter colors governors who are either retired or term-limited

When I said this year's budget, I meant the one coming up, not FY2017.

Made fun of him at a dinner where people go specifically to make fun of each other.

No, the thing that fails now (and why everyone was celebrating) is that McCain is gone for 6 weeks at least and Collins/Murkowski aren't going to change without significantly bending to their will.

That's true.

It feels bad asking this, but what are the chances of McCain passing away anytime soon? It would really suck if they just turn around and pass skinny repeal with McCain's appointed replacement.

McCain's likely to die within a year. We'll see though.

McCain's governor is against skinny repeal, so the person he'd pick would likely also be against skinny repeal. One can hope(not for McCain to die, but it's likely he's looking at retirement at minimum).

Ohio Florida Michigan are going to be sooooo important.

Not to mention once Sketetor is out in Tallahassee, the state will actually expand Medicaid for about 1 million people. Probably.

Aww yeah Kelly, you warmly navigate that thicket.

I really do wonder if Obama hadn't of called it Obama care and something generic like health care plan instead, if any of this would be happening.

Wtf is Trump's obsession with repealing Obamacare. If you want it repealed so badly, fucking sell it. But you won't because you're a lazy piece of shit.

I honestly have not hated an individual as much as I do Trump. Didn't know I had it in me.
Repeal and replace! I guess dude really cared about that part of his campaign.

I agree. I think the name should be Affordable Care Act. It has a nice ring to it.

Edit -

Great minds think alike, Laevateinn.

Trump treats this country like it's one of his businesses and like senators and representatives are his employees. And the Republicans are cowering in fear because of it. He does his damnedest to appeal to police and military. He downplays the importance of education and preaches about the "freedom" to not have healthcare. He's a bigot with a history of such. He hands positions of importance to his family and friends and the corruption of his administration runs deep. The man is a white nationalist authoritarian and we can't afford to have him for eight years. He's doing enough damage and we're not even a year in.

Please get out and vote in 2018. Make sure there's at least a Democrat majority so he can't get shit done.

Yeah, it's legitimately scary how many people fell for the "Obamacare" branding. Obama and liberals only took it up once it became clear the branding was pretty much stuck to the bill permanently. Everything else was solely the RNC machine.

Democrats are trying to do the same thing with "Trumpcare" but it's not nearly as effective because a.) there has yet to be a single successful bill that can be branded where bill x is Trumpcare as with the ACA, and b.) the democratic machine isn't nearly as Orwellian in nature as Fox News et al. so it's not as effective at fear and labeling.

This lesson should be learned by now, there is no polishing Trump. No one can make him not operate in a chaotic shitstorm.
To be honest, I felt Mark Burnett did as good a job of polishing Trump as possible.
But his team had the added benefit of isolating him within the confines of a 48-minute TV show.
