Senate Republicans to make another attempt at Obamacare repeal

This will play in the background once the Republicans are finally successful in destroying American democracy...

Nah. It's going to be the Porky Pig version.

Yeah, it's legitimately scary how many people fell for the "Obamacare" branding. Obama and liberals only took it up once it became clear the branding was pretty much stuck to the bill permanently. Everything else was solely the RNC machine.

Democrats are trying to do the same thing with "Trumpcare" but it's not nearly as effective because a.) there has yet to be a single successful bill that can be branded where bill x is Trumpcare as with the ACA, and b.) the democratic machine isn't nearly as Orwellian in nature as Fox News et al. so it's not as effective at fear and labeling.

They should start calling it "Trump Doesn't-Care"

I thought McCain's tactic of voting to allow it to come forward and then voting down the actual repeal bill put this whole reconciliation out to pasture for a year. The only way they can pass this now is with 60 votes.

Or did I fall for some Twitter scam of fake news?

They can still do reconciliation, technically. But that earth is so scorched now that they'd be better off moving forward.

I really do wonder if Obama hadn't of called it Obama care and something generic like health care plan instead, if any of this would be happening.

Wow. I know you've been corrected, but think how many people out there actually believe obama named health care after himself. That misinformation drives even more hate

Propaganda. Advertising. It still fucking works because people don't have time to research anything. It's amazing. After all we've learned over multiple wars this shit still works

Fake news, just like the "It's too late to do reconciliation because it's May." misconception.

So this is going to keep sucking up all the oxygen in Congress for the next little while? Fine, it'll keep the Republicans from moving onto other things. They've already spent more than half the year on this and have nothing to show for it.

Got a link to some sort of source for this? I've seen this argued both ways and the stuff I've read is ambiguous. I'm about ready to flip my computer desk lol

Me too. But the takeaway is that there seem to be workarounds to revive anything if they really want to do it.

I was originally going by the cbpp primer with the interpretation that the skinny repeal was an amendment to the AHCA. I inferred that the amendment failed, so the bill technically was never "considered." That is, put up to a vote.

Since then, I have seen so many contradictory interpretations that I'm just going to shut up and never celebrate ever. Go ask the Senate Parliamentarian.

Welcome beautful toddler, Madison Elizabeth, to the horde!
With all the incessant campaigning to kill health care for millions, the ads write themselves. However, I fear the Dems will drop the ball.

Republicans will always make another pass at repealing the ACA until they lose control of Congress.

Next midterms are in November 6, 2018. Provided the Marx-quoting dumbasses don't fuck this up, we got this.

Ohio Florida Michigan are going to be sooooo important.

Not to mention once Sketetor is out in Tallahassee, the state will actually expand Medicaid for about 1 million people. Probably.

The head of the Florida Democratic Party offended the head of the local chapter of the NAACP and has offered to resign. We put the fun back in dysfunctional, watch us blow the gubernatorial election.
That, and Bat Boy can run for Senate against Bill Nelson next year...

Don't give up Republican Senators, the World is watching: Repeal & Replace...and go to 51 votes (nuke option), get Cross State Lines & more.

Its up! Still doesn't realize this only need 50 votes and didn't even get that.

If I were a Republican Senator, I'd be digging in my heels right now, Trump is trying to bully them and mock them into doing what he wants. Let's see if they have any self-respect.

The world is watching and wondering why the hell you're even considering this option. We're not looking to the US health insurance market as an inspiration.

I'm sure in Trump's mind the world thinks he's awesome, and those that don't are just losers and haters that are jealous.

Seriously, if the world is watching it's not because they are hoping this shit repeal passes and millions of Americans are sentenced to death.

They don't. They just apologize for Trump's behavior, come up with excuses to justify that behavior (new at this, learning as he goes etc.) and then do as he tells them to.

Yeah...I'm hoping that with all of this bullying that he does with his own people, some grow some balls and start telling reporters "Yeah...he doesn't actually know how any of this works," and explain why. MAYBE some of this supporters will start to understand what a fuckwit he is, if that starts to happen.

I hope they just focus on failing at this for the next four years.

If it were up to Trump that's exactly what would happen. He's not going to risk reaching the election and not getting reelected while something to do with Obama still stands. The question is, is it up to Trump? So far it seems congress is listening to him anyway.

With all the talk of deathpannels with obamacare how ironic that it is Congress now that is acting like one massive deathpanel for millions of people.

I feel like at this point they're going to water down their repeal bill to pass it to the point that it ends up just saying "we're repealing the name ACA and will replace it later. Everything else about it is intact" then call it a victory.

Their populace is stupid enough that seriously, it's all it would take. And really the Democrats should have no problem with that. The problem is, I'm not so sure the Republicans are motivated by what their voters want. They are in it for the cha-ching!

There really is a tweet for everything:

Thomas Jefferson wrote the Senate filibuster rule. Harry Reid & Obama killed it yesterday. Rule was in effect for over 200 years.

Don't they go on recess on Monday until September? Would they just cancel it to vote for the Graham bill?
The House is in recess but the Senate's vacation got put off for another two weeks.

Does he golf every weekend??? Jesus.
As of this Thursday he's going golfing in New Jersey for 18 straight days.
This weekend's outing to Virginia is merely the appetizer.

What would be especially sad is that I doubt he's any good as a golfer despite all of the rounds he manages to get in on the links.
