Persona 3 FES came out 9 months after the original release in Japan.
Persona 5 released 11 months ago in Japan. A new version next year is definitely in the cards.

Take it as a rumor since it's not new, but my source is absolutely reliable.
I haven't played P5, but I know they will get rid of/fix some grinding (or something that makes the game too long) and, as a consequence, the story should be shorter. Around 2-3 months ago I was told the game was still 1.5/2 years away from release.
I was told to wait for this version since it should be overall better. That's it.

If they do redo some aspects of the game soon I really hope they don't (end game spoilers)
pander too much to Akechi fans. I know they way his story arc wasn't too satisfying (though I hated him so I didn't really care) but I feel like if they did try to add more of him they might try to work him as another "true" member of the group when they really fucking shouldn't.

P5R is obviously Persona 5 Ryuji.
a spin off visual novel where you take control of Ryuji trying to get him a girlfriend but constantly failing and thus halfway through turns into an odd couple like comedy with Yusuke joining to help him and instead the two just go on random adventures.
depends on how you define grinding.
if you define it strictly as needed to grind enemies to level up then it doesn't have that.
if you go a little more broad and talk about stuff you have to do over and over again that is rather tedious it totally has that especially in the second half of the game where basically every dungeon is twice as long as it should be as it repeats the dungeon gimmick over and over.
I mean I loved the game overall but stuff like the mouse maze stuff was way to much.

Ever since that initial P5 announcement stream it seems that high expectations have become the norm when it comes to Persona related streams.

It's obivously going to be Rouge. Fits with the tarot cards being in French and with Joker's starting persona being Arséne Lupin.

Usually we call that padding, not grinding.
That one stream has been the only one which has ever delivered more than one significant thing. Most of them don't even manage that.
