Top PSN downloads, July 2017 (a certain bandicoot crashes the top of the list)

Not content with dominating the PS1 Classics list year after year, Crash now has his grubby paws all over the PS4 segment as well. Does his tyranny know no bounds?

Spyro can still be successful in its own right though. It doesn't have to stack up to Crash.

But yeah, Crash continuing to sell over the gen would be really nice.

Exactly. Spyro not outselling Crash doesn't mean much. We are still talking a title that will guaranteed surpass a million sales and would cost a lot less than a brand new AAA game from the ground up.

It will happen only question is how long it takes to get rolling

Oh most definitely, not down playing Spyro I vaguely remember playing it back then but it didn't hook me like Crash did, I reckon it's the same for some people.
Given how fond people are of Spyro I think it would do really well, probably 1m+ at the very least so there's that.

PS one & PS2 classics in EU is a Crash takeover.

1. Crash Bandicoot (1)
2. Crash Bandicoot 3 Warped (2)
3. Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back (3)
4. CTR: Crash Team Racing (4)

CTR remake announcement at PSX must be a lock. Remake of original game, with more carts and guest characters (Sack Boy, Ratchet and Knack etc) sell for £30/$40 and watch Crash own summer 2018.

Yeah CTR pretty much confirmed by now ;)

Started playing on the Vita and I'm around 27% completion...but I can't save anymore, tells me there is no Memory Card inserted, now I don't know if I should start from scratch and save after every race, continue playing and never close the game or give up and just wait untill the remake hits ;) That game is still awesome btw. the remake will bring it to another level with online MP and Time Trials.

fucking amazing

Remember all those people who said Crash was dead and no one wanted it anymore?

Crash threads used to be unbearable before the release. Between people shitting on the games and the people claiming that no one cares about them anymore etc.

Crash is showing no mercy to the haters and doubters.

Man, what I would give to see the naysayers and shitposters eating fresh salty crow after finding out how success Crash really turned out to be.

Just imagine.

Crash is like GTAV it will keep selling well for years to come, that's the power of the IP.

No. It's nice to see Crash doing so well -- holding #1 for a month and two days -- but let's not get carried away. Comparing it to GTA V?

This is the third month for Friday the 13th in the Top 10. This is the second game after Ark that I remember being in Top 10 for so long, and it isn't from a major AAA publisher.

Any bets on how long Crash will keep up in Top 10?

There's nothing wrong with the example I gave, power of this particular IP can make it have long legs.
Your assumption was that you thought I said that Crash will sell as much as GTAV, the assumption itself is wrong.

It's a poor comparison. If you think comparing Crash's legs to GTA V's legs is apt, I think you've lost perspective.

That's the beauty of having different opinions, just as you have yours I have mine.
Also you should add "IMO" because that's what it is nothing else.

I had the memory card problem too. My solution was to open the Vita memory card settings (hold down the PS button in-game) then copy the CTR saved data to the blank memory card in slot 2 and/or an empty slot on another virtual memory card (each PSOne Classic has an individual card on Vita). Finally copy the file back to the original card and it should allow you to save again.

Was crash a remaster, remake, new ? It's doing very well so I'm curious if this will create more games from the series

They like to call in a remaster, but it's actually a remake due to basically being built from scratch. The only thing kept was the general level geometery, and the soundtrack from the game as a basis for the new one. Everything else had to be made from the ground up and they tried to capture the feel of the gameplay for each of the games as closely as they could.

As for more games that are remakes of existing Crash games, CTR is a lock at this point. Out of the rest, I think maybe Twinsanity has a chance.

Brand new games-wise, they can test the waters with some DLC, Come out with some original DLC levels and see how they're received, if they sell well and get good feedback from the community, it will probably result in them working on entire new games.

Activision during their earnings call today, slightly paraphrased: "Crash exceeded even our most optimistic estimates by a fair amount"
