Games are expected to look better on PS4 vs XB1 too. Those that are outside of the norm are commented on as such.

You would expect games to look better on PS4 than they do on Xbox One.

You would expect games to look better on PS4 Pro than on PS4

and you would expect games to look better on Xbox One X than on PS4 Pro

That's just the logic of better hardware. Why doesn't the logic work out that often? A variety of reasons, but it doesn't mean that it's shocking that it does follow for one game out the bunch. (But yeah I agree with your last point. I hope that devs push XB1X to the max and it's regularly the best performer out of the consoles for third party games)

I don't find this game directors comments surprising, but I've seen a lot of discussion over the last year regarding the extent developers will put additional resources into the 1X version in order to make it stand out from the PS4P. With many people citing how often parity is presented for PS4/XB1, and the relatively small userbase the 1X will have.

My expectation is that the differences between 1X and PS4P versions of games will be greater than we currently see between PS4 and the Xbox One.
