It seems that DQXI 3DS won't have any problem reaching 2 million and DQXI PS4 1.5 million.

And pretty good HW numbers too.

Idk why Japan won't buy Zelda more. I mean Nintendo even changed the structure of the game and it doesn't appeal to them compared to the rest of the world.

It's a bit baffling to me. As a gamer since the days of "Dragon Warrior / Quest 1", the unchanged nature of that game in recent years is far more offputting to me than Zelda's unchanged nature became before Breath of the Wild. And the new Zelda is like a breath of fresh air compared with basically all games.

ARMS got its first update in a while this week, and they're gearing up for an online tournament of sorts in Japan. I wonder if that will combat its declining numbers.

It was changed, but I don't really think it was in a way that appeals to japanese players moreso than the old formula did.

Is DQXI the biggest PS4 software in Japan already? The gap between PS4 & 3DS is impressive to me, its smaller than I would imagine

Poor Crash debut, but my boy good anywhere else

DQXI on PS4 passed the 1 million sales mark faster than FFXV which is the only other million seller if you add digital sales.

Good hold for DQ XI on PS4.

Is PS4 baseline going to be increased by couple of thousands in Japan after DQ XI? PS4 can hit 2 million this calendar year in Japan. Is there anything worthwhile releasing in Holidays for Japan?

Gran Turismo, Hot Shots Golf, and...? That's off the top of my head though.

GT sports in October but otherwise nothing until MHW.

Is there an explanation why Zelda is not huge in Japan? It got Japanese/Asian influences and culture and more in the games.

What is it about the Zelda series that puts off people in Japan?

Just interested as off why:p

BotW has outsold games like Majora's Mask, Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess and it's still not done selling so I don't think that's true.

Surprised Japan gave no fucks about Crash, I believe the original games were all million sellers.

I've always found it weird Activision doesn't have a JP branch when EA, Ubisoft and 2K/Rockstar all do. COD does well enough over there that you'd think they'd start one up.

Between the backlash of the first and coming out late in the 3DS life cycle it looks like DGS2 bombed as expected. Hope Shu Takumi lands on his feet. First Ghost Trick, then the crossover with Layton, and now this. Ghost Trick deserved to do so much better but unfortunately it bombed the hardest.
Ghost Trick scales incredibly well to HD going by the mobile ports. Capcom should seriously consider bringing it to Switch and Steam some day.

Bic Camera lotteries will give a more clear picture now that the sample is big enough but early hints from retailer blogs so far are that this will be a big week for Switch shipments, likely bigger than Splatoon 2 launch.

Wow, where have they been hiding all of these units? Any word on the ratio of normal Switches to Splatoon 2 bundles? A large amount of bundles might help explain why the other software isn't seeing a bump.

All these have been mentioned at last thread

(Nintendo Switch Splatoon 2 Set):(Nintendo Switch Neon Blue / Neon Red + Nintendo Switch Gray) = 2:1

It's a pity seeing the decline of the latest entries in the Layton and AA series... which one do you think it'll sell more? (Lady Layton is having some kind of legs and I'm not sure GPW2 is going to have the same behaviour))

I don't get why Capcom made a Great Ace Attorney sequel given the first game majorly underperformed and they didn't want to localize it, so there was no hope to make up the drop overseas.

Because they literally ended the first game without answering any of the questions left at the end.

Layton has the added benefit of a mobile release as well as the fact it's coming worldwide to 3DS at some point.

I also expect Layton to get a Switch port based on Hinos comments.

Great numbers for DQXI, both versions are doing really well! Splatoon 2 will probably rise and fall with stock, but the numbers are big nonetheless!

Pretty interesting that we could be seeing numbers above the Splatoon 2 launch next week, I think that would indicate that stock increases are finally starting to rear their heads.

Last 2 weeks have been huge for HW and SW. Overall this year HW numbers are looking to be very solid.

So could be looking at close to or more than 100K, pretty awesome to see the switch finally getting some big shipments.

Seems it should be able to stay ahead of the 3DS until the holidays. Then it'll need to pull off some seriously big weeks to stay ahead.

I guess they like keeping Shu Takumi happy? I dunno, it's been a while since he's been behind a commercially successful installment. I don't seem to recall that Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright setting the world on fire, either.

That 2DS move by Nintendo is almost like they've got a Wii and ds thing going on right now. What will be lifetime numbers for 3ds? 80mil?

Otherrwise great week for hw again and DQXI also selling well still.

How big is the team? I could see them just trying to make enough to break even (even if it's not so profitable) and retain talent while they come up with something new to work on.

I think we're there already, but if true it'll be not far off 400k a month in Japan if it keeps up like that.

I think DQXI will have good legs. I haven't heard bad word of mouth of it, and conversely have heard good.

I know a few non-DQ fans who are planning to buy this one despite not buying the last few.

Looks like a good week! Cant wait to play DQXI on whatever platform shows up with english first.

Also, Splatoon 2 has a pretty sick attachment rate. Wonder what it is including digital?

Japan is really feeling it these days. Great to see.

I wonder what Shu Takumi will do next after these DGS sales.

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.

There were too many unanswered questions, not allowing a sequel might've caused more harm to the overall series than good when the plot is so important to this genre.

Hmm, i'm not sure about that. Depends on wtaht the shipment numbers are like after Obon. 3DS gets a big boost in 2 weeks (launch aligned) and then continues to sell in excess of 60k for a while, so Switch needs to match those.
