I think you're confusing Annabelle and The Conjuring movies with something else maybe? Those movies are anything like Paranormal Activity, no type of found footage stuff.

I am talking about all those horror movies that followed the found footage craze. Like the one with the demon that only appears in home movies, etc

Sinister was so bad I fell asleep. Then rewatched it, but it took three days. Then I tried watching Sinister 2. Seen that film twice, still can't remember how it ends.

I get Sinister and Insidious mixed up. Evidently I've seen both.

Unless I'm on a date, I'm not really up for paying theater prices for these horror movies. Even the well done ones are rentals at best for me.

I'm pretty excited for Logan Lucky, not going to lie.

I am hoping he gets back into television again as well. The Knick is an all time great.

Shame they'll have to wait a few more weeks for one.

Annabelle 2 is pretty decent. I caught it at a screening last week. It definitely redeemed itself after an awful first installment, as Ouija 2 did to a certain degree. It's not a horror classic or anything, but it's competent and worth a watch if you're a fan of James Wan's style of horror (The Conjuring/Insidious)

That Dark Tower drop is not surprising, but still really bad.

The Conjuring has far better characters. This felt like a competent film not terribly concerned with writing good characters. Closest was Janis, but that didn't last long.

Wolf Warrior 2 is now sitting somewhere near $655M in China. If it didn't pass Jurassic World's domestic gross on Saturday, it will tomorrow. The film started slowing down 3 days back, but should still hit close to $680M by the end of the weekend.

$700M will happen by Tuesday or Wednesday.

Emoji at $70m WW.

Hope it doesn't have a lot of territories to open up in.

Enough that it will at least finish in the $150M+ range.

Spider-Man Homecoming might break $700M this weekend. If not, it will be extremely close.

Japan opened this weekend. It looks like it will make around $25M there. ASM2 did $30M, but the Yen was stronger in 2014.

If China is good for $100M, we're probably looking at a finish in the $850M range for Spider-Man Homecoming.

I know living in NYC I get railroaded, but I am curious about how much do you folks pay for movie tickets and premium format if don't mind me asking.

i paid $25 a pop for Dunkirk 70MM IMAX last week here in Los Angeles. Regular tickets, if I don't do matinee, are usually I believe like $14-16.

My previous city was $10 regular, $13 3D, and $16 for IMAX (in Canadian dollars). It wasn't a true IMAX though.

Edmonton seems to be $20.25 for (true) IMAX and $16.25 for UltraAVX.

If you convert those prices to USD, we probably have one of the cheaper premium ticket prices outside of Asia. $16 CAD is $12.50 US. $20.25 CAD is about $15.80 US.

IMAX 70mm in SoCal was $23, regular IMAX is about $20 (I think, I don't do Liemax), and I buy regular tickets from Costco for $8 a piece

Salt Lake City: $6 for matinee, $9.50 for regular, $10-$12 for IMAX. $5 all day on Tuesdays (not special format).

It feels like most of our theaters are switching to reclining seats, but it doesn't seem to affect the prices.

Damn, I have a bet that Homecoming would beat out BvS worldwide total. Looking like it's gonna be close but not close enough.

Paid 50 quid for two tickets to fuckig BFI IMAX for Dunkirk. The flight for one person with Ryan Air was cheaper lmao. Worth the price of admission though.

Start praying for $125M in China and good holds everywhere else.

How are European flights so cheap? Domestic flights in Canada are a major rip off, even for flights that aren't that far. Toronto to Montreal return is like $350. You can drive there in 5-6 hours.

The place I go to - non-IMAX, leather recliners, reserved seating - is $11.50 a seat. Long Island, NY

I have no idea. If you book far enough in advance and have no luggage other than your hand held stuff then it's incredibly cheap to fly from say Düsseldorf to London. Like much cheaper than going by train or car. I don't actually understand how they are not losing money from that.

I don't pay for films

European planes are super cheap, trains are too
Canadian planes are expensive because they have to pay off the mafia

WB are probably really pleased with Dunkirk right? With it being a WWll film and all.

They got a serious Oscar contender as well. At the moment. The big contenders tend to come out in the fall.

The record for worst opening in 4000 theaters has been broken three times this summer, with Nut Job 2 looking to set such a low bar it will probably hold for at least a few years.

WB covered both World War's and made bank.
By all accounts, they have a very good year. Right now Annabelle is doing well, IT is going do to fantastic, but I fear for Blade Runner 2049.

WB could end with 7 of the top 20 movies grosses (domestically) for 2017, pretty damn good.

Blade Runner and Lego Ninjago outliers too.

What 7 are you picking? I only see the 4 they have now (which should all make the final Top 20), plus Justice League, and maybe IT.

Annabelle Creation? All in the franchise (Conjuring) have had first days around $15m same as this, but range from $84m, $102m and $137m totals.

At the least WB can maybe get 9+ films over the $100m mark which would be a record for them.

Is Atomic Blonde doing that badly? I thought it wasn't all that far off from whatever the first John Wick movie did, at least in the US. Granted, it was more expensive.
