By Wario64. The price seems to be just a placeholder since it should be 50.99.

Launch exclusive i believe.

launched as EA. as far as i knew it was still in EA
just another game preview "exclusive" that is getting a PS4 release when its finished, nothing surprising really. game got way better after a few updates by the way so people interested who might been put off by the first impressions could check it out

I'm pretty sure PUBG will go the same route. Hopefully it won't stay in EA for more than a couple months though...

The price tag to keep PUBG exclusive for a long period of time would be massive because of the guaranteed sales on PS4. Probably a couple months like you said.

I remember seeing We Happy Few and thought it looked interesting but didn't follow up on it at all. To youtube for reviews!

game is not being paid to be exclusive by any means
where did GAF took this ridiculous idea from

just like Cities:Skylines and PoE games are hitting xbox first because of game preview/microsoft helping with porting and will most likely get PS4 versions down the line

This might not be 100% accurate, but from what I remember this game had a pretty terrific gameplay demonstration at one of Microsoft's E3 conferences, and then when details emerged later on about it being a procedurally-generated game and that the demo wasn't an entirely accurate representative of the planned final product, nearly everyone expressed disappointment that it wasn't story orientated.

Now I'm reading this blogpost and I don't get the impression it's procedurally generated anymore. Which is a good thing I think, but is it widely known that they've substantially altered the game since that showing?

Some questions...

-Was I blind or did Compulsion say the price was going to be 50.99? I thought it was very weird, but I specifically saw FIFTY and not 59 in multiple instances...?
-If this is in April and it's likely a delayed launch, I wonder when the game is coming out for Xbox/PC. There's also a Mac/Linux release planned for post-launch as well.
-Also for a full $60 game no physical release turns me off. Might not buy it for that reason even though it was my favorite game at E3 that year.

It is still procedural and survival, but there are three different characters with full stories. I read a loooonnngggg time ago I BELIEVE that they said each story would probably take about five hours to finish, but that has probably changed.

its kinda like The Long Dark .... there is prodcedural Sandbox mode and cinematic story mode which is exclusive for v1.0.... E3 video was basically prologue of Story mode

They just tweeted - it's a day and date release for PS4 Xbox and PC in April.

Trailer.

WAKEY WAKEY everyone! We Happy Few will launch on Xbox One, PC and PS4 on April 13th 2018!

It's physical, Gearbox is publishing it.

God I wish that the game was just a full game of that intro sequence. Those trailers were so misleading
Sandbox mode gameplay ≠ Story mode gameplay

The final game will contain the full story we have been working on for the past 3 years. A lot of gamers who haven't played the game think it is currently just a survival sandbox, completely unaware that it contain around 90 fully voiced over encounters or that you can remove the survival settings. The game has changed a great deal since the Early Access release, so if you see people around talking about ”just another survival game", we'd appreciate if you pointed them in the direction of recent changes Smile
from steam

Playing through the storylines of three distinct citizens with wildly different perspectives, you'll explore Wellington Wells, encounter intriguing characters, and uncover a few secrets along the way. Take advantage of each character's playstyle, whether by choosing to fight your way out of conflicts, sneak past unseen, or blend in with the townsfolk to avoid their suspicion. Just don't get caught off your Joy. Only Downers refuse to take their Joy, and you don't want people to think you're a Downer, do you?

PUBG will be "exclusive" for as long as early access. You really think it will only be in EA for 3 months?

Hell, We Happy Few will have been in EA on Xbox almost a year when this finally comes out in April

PUBG is getting out of early access this year.
On PC sure...

I ask again, you really think early access on console will be 3 months? Most every other game that has come through early access has been at least 6, most close to a year..that's usually why they decide to go the EA route of a launch, because the game is farther out

EA Xbox info
Astroneer: launched December 2016, still in EA. Time: 8 months and counting

Conan Exiles: just launched today, too early to tell, but full game isn't slated until Q1 2018, so at least 6 months

The Culling: launch June 2017 still in EA. No announced release date

Ghost of a Tale: released July 2017As of June dev said it was "45% complete", so not looking until a 2018 release my guess.

Pit People: January 2017, still in EA. 6 months and counting

Rivals of Aether: released July 2016. 13 months and counting

Snooker Nation Championship: release July 2016. 13 months and counting

Submautica: released May 2016. 15 months and counting

We Happy Few: released July 2016, will have been almost 2 years when it releases in April 2018

Fable Fortune: released July 2017, too early to tell

Released:
Gigantic: December 2016, released July 2017. 7 months

Elite Dangerous: June 2015, released. Left in October 2015, but didn't come to PS4 until June 2017. 4 months and 2 years respectively.

The Long Dark: released June 2015. Left in August 2017 and came to PS4 same day. 2 years and 2 months

Slime Rancher: released August 2016. Left August 1. 1 year

Ark: released December 2015. Left game preview on August 2017. 1 year and 8 months.

I may have missed a few but hopefully this gives people an idea how long these games usually stay in game preview on Xbox, let alone release on PS4

Huh, this is only $29.99 on Steam. I wonder if I should buy it now if it's doubling in price any day now.

I'm not sure what being in EA has to do with anything. There are plenty of early access games on PS4. What makes some different?

Because PUBG is specifically going to Xbox for EA..
And even though we all know it will be on PlayStation, as of this moment they have not announced or planned it. Leads me to believe it's longer than 3 months..

And by "plenty" you mean like 4? Paladins, Fortnite, Gwent, and Paragon. 3 of which are on Xbox. There's apparently difference enough between both platforms where most are not on PS.

I bought it today on steam, the price is supposed to go up to $50.99 on steam sometime today.

It also seems the kind of game that will go up on Humble Monthly bundle too, so dunno if its really worth it. The full game is not rolling out to steam anytime soon, they are just gonna work on it seperately and release it when its done, presumably sometime around March/April next year since thats the console release date for the full game I think?

Sony allow EA games on case-to-case basis, only a few selected ones they feel like adding for whatever reason (usually just big name ones like Fortnite and Ark)

Xbox have a game preview program for early access games. Thus many more are avaliable for it and hitting PS4 later, when they're finished or gained more traction (like Gwent).
