One Piece Thread (redux)

I feel like Cracker is bluffing about being able to control all of his armor puppets to a tee with his powers. Otherwise, why wouldn't he just use the armor themselves to fight his enemies, without putting himself in harm's way? Then again, Doflamingo had a whole arsenal of moves with his devil fruit. Curious to see how this plays out.

If I remember right, Doflamingo had a string that kept him in contact with his dummy. I doubt Cracker could control his dummies from very far away.

Aren't the biscuit guards in front of big mom's castle his creation, too? They looked dead-eyed in hindsight.

Not a fan of this devil fruit as well. Didn't like Doffy's indestructible strings either.
Those powers should follow a certain logic. Considering how strong Luffy is, the biscuits were basically hard as diamond which itself is a devil fruit power :p

I know, haki, but they don't show it as black...

It's still pretty clear he's using Haki to reinforce it, even without a color change.

Good god, is it even advisable to binge from the start at this point? Similarly, should I watch what seem to be the HD remastered episodes, or just the original 4:3 ones (which do fill an iPad screen nicely.)

Was hoping that there would be a special for Episode 800, but oh well. :D

Wonder how much longer Ruffy will be able to maintain Gear 4. The new attack was pretty nice.

I'd recommend watching OnePace, if you are just now starting from the beginning. It's a super cut of the series and will get you through faster.

I'm so tempted to read the manga just because of how bad the anime pacing is :(

I don't want to wait another few years before watching it the rest of the arc like I did before punk hazard.

I'm still holding out. I've never been into manga (or comics) and I don't really feel like starting now. I am checking the manga thread regularly for discussions and spoilers though. I don't post in there that often though because I don't want to come across as ignorant (anymore than in this thread) for not knowing things that happened in the manga but not the anime.

Meh episode today. Flashback didn't really add anything that hasn't been shown. They also added a bunch of days to how long Sanji and Zeff went without food compared to the original scene for some reason.

Has Shota Sanji always sounded like Chopper? Ive only heard him in engdub during the original time of this flashback, unless Im just missing some other time in the past few years we saw shota Sanji?

So the D is a certain gene/DNA trait?

Considering that they now introduced DNA/cloning in the show.
Really seems like Vegapunk will be the key to explain everything to the crew and the audience.

I like corked bottles with the clones inside haha.

This is the kind of revelation I've always been worried about but I can't help but feel like it's more and more likely.

Did I miss something in todays episode?

I doubt that. Vegapunk may explain something, but we still need explanations on:

- Will of the D
- Void Century
- Voice of All Things
- Mary Joa
- One Piece/Raftel

Some of those things may correlate, but I doubt that Vegapunk will be the key.

Oh, this thread still gets traffic?

I've been enjoying the anime adaptation of this arc, mainly due to the implied filler with scenes that weren't shown on-screen in the manga.
Every episode has been at least decent and the art has been mostly consistent due to Chief Animation Director Keiichi Ichikawa busting his ass on every episode.

I don't think you'd want more manga readers in here since they'd probably wouldn't be able to keep the thread spoiler-free.

Spoilers don't really bother at all which is why I read the manga thread. There's maybe 2-3 other people here that watch the anime but don't read the manga. I was the only person to post here in 3 weeks at one point.

Did I miss something in todays episode?

When the cloning/DNA/conserved traits was explained to Sanji, he used the word bloodline which reminded me of the Will of the D. Though I actually don't recall when exactly it was used in that context haha (maybe Roger -> Ace?).

- I don't think we'll ever get a clear answer on the Will of D besides maybe an origin. Right now it's basically people who have the ability to change the world and I'm not sure we'll get a lot more than that.
- I don't think we'll hear much about the Void Century until they've found the 3rd red stone or so. Maybe we'll get a hint of it during the Reverie.
- I'm not expecting much of an explanation on the Voice of All Things besides it being an extremely rare ability to have.
- Mariejois? We learned from Doflamingo that 20 Kings/Queens from 20 nations came together and formed it. I can't remember if that was before or after the Void Century though.
- I wouldn't expect anything about One Piece/Raftel until after Wano, so we have awhile to go on that.

I'm still strongly feeling that Vegapunk will become an ally at some point. I have no idea when he'll show up though. I don't think he'll be part of the Reverie or Wano. As far as I know from the anime and reading the manga thread there's no strong hint on what's after Wano. I know Elbaf is a popular guess and a few Straw Hats (mainly Ussop) want to go there but I don't see it happening unless a Red Stone is there. I think it's more likely to get a movie than its own arc.

Yeah, former fleet-admiral Sengoku talked about the Roger bloodline during the Ace execution. You could be totally right about it being a certain gene, because it's pretty obvious that all of the "D"'s are somehow related anyways.

One thing that I have seen/read somewhere was that every "D" smiles when they die or are about to die (even Luffy did when he was almost executed by Buggy in Loguetown). I have gone back and paid attention to it and it's true.

Everything that gets teased in One Piece will get a definite answer, otherwise they wouldn't go through the trouble of mentioning those things multiple times. The question is just "when" and not "if".

- Will of the D is something that is constantly being teased. Robin asking Rayleigh about it, the Gorosei saying that people with the "D" are frustrating to deal with, Doflamingo getting really mad when Law confronts him with the "D", Corazon changing his mindset after he finds out that Law is a "D", Sengokus conversation with Law after Dressrosa and the conversation between Whitebeard and Roger. There is no way that we will never find out.
- Rayleigh confirmed that they learned about the entire Void Century, but I think this is really something that will be only revelead once Robin has access to the final Rio Poneglyph and that is probably also on Raftel.
- We learned quite a lot about the Voice Of All Things already and I'm sure there will be more to it. Momonosuke specifically stayed on Zou to try to learn more about it. Zunisha also teased that somebody punished him to wander arround and that he is strictly tied to commands.
- Mariejois/Mary Joa. All the same to me.
Just mixing up the english/german and japanese version of the actual name. Hate when they actually translate proper names. You should never do that.
But my point with Mariejois/Mary Joa was that Doflamingo teased a big secret that was located in the center of it. There's probably much more about Mariejois/Mary Joa that is interesting.
- It's really interesting to me how they will handle Raftel/One Piece. Last final Arc or will they have an other Arc afterwards, where they will oppose and crush the World Government for good, depending on what they find out.

Vegapunk becoming an ally is an interesting theory. Really interested in when he will actually show up. He was also teased quite some times now. I don't read the Manga (and I don't want to get spoiled), so I don't know what the next Arcs will be other than Wano, since the rest of the Straw Hats are on their way there. Reverie was also being shown a couple times, but I don't know if there will be an actual Arc to it and what the point of it will be other than the Kingdoms coming together. I don't really expect much to come out of it, but I'm in for every surprise.

When exactly did we learn that Vivi's family were the only one invited to Mariejois that turned it down because they had to guard the Ponyglyph?

Crunchyroll finally separated the recent arcs. Zou is in the same group as the later end of Dressrosa but Whole Cake Island is by itself now, making it easy to find when it started.

The anime denotes a separation by changing the last bit of the opening to reflect Whole Cake Island.

I know. Hoping we get a completely new opening at some point.

Edit: New episode was meh. Knew how they were gonna treat Nami confronting Cracker but at least it's done already. Next week should finally show how Sanji escaped. I'm sure Veelk's gone on a rant about Reiju. They're trying to make her sympathetic even though it doesn't make sense why.

I thought they would drag out Ruffy's exhaustion again. Surprised he is back this fast. Kinda wanted to see Nami fight against Cracker a little with her usual Mirrage Tempo and stuff.

The Sanji stuff is prety weird, too. Kids being augmented and them developing an exoskeleton. lol

Also, looks like a special episode(?) with the title
Episode of East Blue
will release soon. Not sure when, just seeing that sites are waiting for the RAW version to sub it.

Doflamingo brought it up during the Law vs Doflamingo & Fujitora fight. But I think the poneglyph part is just theorized instead of being stated outright.

East Blue special was pretty good. The only small issue I have with it is the Arlong fight felt really rushed. All of the fights looked great but they were really fast paced and a little hard to follow.

I still hate it when they use Spoilers in the Episode Title. -.-

Anyways, new form "Tank Man". I kinda expected it, after realizing that Ruffy doesn't just say "Gear 4th", but "Gear 4th: Bounce Man". Don't think this will be the last form either. There is probably an other one or at least I hope there is. These have been too good.

Also, about those Weather Elements (Zeus and Prometheus)... Kinda hard to imagine that they are Homies. I can see Zeus being one, since it's a thunderstorm cloud, but how is Prometheus (a sun) one? I don't think they are Homies and I could see them joining Nami, if this is all done. Please don't spoil, if the Manga answers these question. I don't want to know.

They're likely always with Big Mom which means Nami's vivre card would probably have no effect.

I don't meant as in controlling them with the vivre card. I meant, I could see them joining Nami, after they defeat Big Mom. If they aren't Homies, of course.

I don't think they'll beat Big Mom this arc. Everything has been leading to Kaido being the first Emperor they take down and defeating Big Mom with only half the Straw Hats here seems kind of dumb.

You think so? I mean, Ruffy challenged Big Mom already on Fishmen Island. I don't think he will flee from a fight. Although, taking down an Emperor should be a very very hard thing to do, since they are on a complete other level and are not Emperors for no reason.

I know they were supposed to sneak in and grab Sanji and the Poneglyph without anyone noticing it, but that already failed. Kinda hard to imagine that they will escape any other major fights now. We'll see.
