I'm interested in this new project although I'm not really into medieval settings.

Is it for the main studio in Tokyo?

I wish Xeno 2 looked like this.

(I would love for something more action-y though, so a new IP under this style would be great)

So, they have a team working on xeno 2 and another one working on this?

Maybe? Since Xeno 2 was in production of pre-production during the time of Xeno X. Though this seems to be action game that they had a job listing for.

Curious to see how they handle action gameplay. Also the concept art is rad.

Probably will see something out of this in 2 or 3 years.

Hopefully the art turns into something as it's quite beautiful. Monolith Soft deserves another title besides Xenoblade to define them. I am glad that one of the art screens has a epic view shot though. Inspiring settings seems to be the studio's strength.

They have 2 teams where one is usually helping with art assets with Nintendo but they also workers on the projectxzone games for Namco so its possible they are working on this

This is a brand new project that will offer something different from Monolithsoft's usual brand image. It is a new challenge they are tackling. They are looking for programmers and battle planners for the action portion of the game, specifically people who have experience in action games and able to handle responsive combat.

This is definitely a fantasy action RPG.

btw, 3rd art that hero of legend posted most likely isn't related to the new project and just their generic recruitment art (just like that giant tree few years ago). the 2 medieval-like ones doesn't mention they're recruiting for 3dcg designer which is for the company's Kyoto studio

Come on be Soraya Saga's new project!
Despite her relationship with Takahashi, I doubt they would bring her on to lead a project with her freelancer status. And even then, it's been nearly a decade since she's had a hand in anything development related.

So definitely not menu-based combat?
I'm excited.

Now only if Platinum could still output pure action titles in order to keep the force in balance.

Just to clarify, is all this info that's taken from the website, or is speculation?

I hope so. As good as Xenoblade is, I'm thirsty for something new from Monolithsoft.

Yep got my interest.

That's the only studio that makes games, the Kyoto studio is an asset/art creation house.

I was asking because I remember a recruitment page going up for the Tokyo studio a few years back and people assuming the job listings were for a game by that studio.

Atlus (Project Re:Fantasy), Square-Enix | Studio Istolia (Project Prelude Rune) and now Monolith Soft working on new fantasy action-RPG's.

Give me all of them. Now. Please.

Taken from the website. They are recruiting "action game staff" in particular, and the individual recruitment pages for the action part programmers and action part battle planners specify desired action game experience and responsiveness and enemy AI as things they want to emphasize. For the battle planners, they are also looking for those with an interest in medieval fantasy and understanding of western entertainment trends.

Their recruitment art doesn't always/ever line up with what they are making.

This bears repeating. I'm still sad about how nothing ever came out of this art.

That said, previous recruitment ads were looking for someone knowledgeable in "medieval/fantasy", which these images certainly look like, so... these might be more of a legit tease than that pic ended up being. (also worth noting that the recruitment ad was also looking for someone with knowledge in "overseas trends")

Thanks for the confirmation.

That would be far more interesting than Xenoblade to me, and I'm still interested in Xenoblade. Hope this turns into something special.

This is pretty interesting in regards to the west for obvious reasons.

Give me that new hopefully non mmo style combat system

That's because of Monolith Softs guidance. From Software would be brought in for their action rpg combat and enemy AI expertise.
I'd be ok with that.

Just no dragon fights pls.

While this is true, I would say that we can safely consider the artwork here representative of the game they are making. This isn't a general recruitment ad but one specifically for a new project in development. It lines up with previous speculation based on the battle planner recruitment that showed up a few weeks ago.

Thanks for the confirmation.

Also regarding your previous question, yes the majority of this recruitment ad is for Tokyo. For Kyoto they are only recruiting art designers as usual.

I mean that particular one was for their Kyoto studio right? Isn't that their asset studio that helps on other Nintendo games?
