So they are abandoning the original's artstyle for something more gritty? I thought the juxtaposition of cel-shaded characters and really dark moments/death scenes was really unique at the time.

I don't think the 2-3 controversial scenes from Fear Effect 2 will cause much controversy now. People who played the first 2 games know that they were way more dark and f'ed up than what they were advertised to be. Some of the gruesome death animations rival Resident Evil series' best.

Oh man, where did the epic art style go? The originals still hold up pretty well thanks to it.

How do you bring fear effect back and not keep the look? Pretty lame.

I never played Fear Effect, was it any good and would it scare baby me on the Playstation One.

Played like Resident Evil 1/2/3 with same tank controls/camera but was much more unforgiving/difficult. It's not scary but it just has some dark and messed up themes.

I started with Fear Effect just a while ago. I like the story so far and the German voice acting is excellent. I already thought about how cool a remaster (though) would be, so I wouldn't have to play this on my shitty PSX but conveniantly on my PC.

I wonder if I still should playing this or just stop and wait for the remake. Then again controls are quite terrible, to be honest.

Was always super fascinated with Fear Effect as a kid despite never having played it. I'm not totally sure about the artstyle but I'm excited to possibly cross a childhood desire off the bucket list by finally playing this.

Wondering if they'll keep the really twisted content intact. FE1 is easily the more sadistic of the two, since
you literally go into hell.

Animations in the trailer look, well eh, quite horendous. Also the character in close up has a cartoony look (somewhat in the same vein as the original) but the environments don't seem to reflect that. I'll wait and see how this goes before jumping for joy that this game is coming to Switch.

The main problems I had in 2000 were the switching camera angles screwing you over with enemies off-screen. Many deaths! I don't think I could stomach it now.

If it sells well it's the chance of a lifetime to finally release a port of the third game as well. It's one of those unreleased games I really want to have.

Tank controls. It's manageable.

In certain games, I feel like tank controls have actually helped the games hold up well over time. The original Tomb Raiders in particular because although it's frustrating at first, once you get used to it, it's easy to understand exactly how Lara will move which is useful for precision platforming.

I'll probably revisit Fear Effect before this comes out so it'll be interesting to see how they hold up better in a more traditional adventure/shooter setting.
