Mesozoica was always trash. Prehistoric Kingdom on the other hand is good. They just released their pre-alpha demo over the weekend on Steam. The people making Prehistoric Kingdom actually put research into their dinosaurs.

Hmm, I've been following both, and honestly I've been much more excited for Mesozoica. It both looks better and plays better imo. I had far more fun with their little demo, than I've managed to have with the Prehistoric Kingdom demo.

I feel like Mesozoica encourages me to go up close to dinosaurs and really put some effort into how I design the enclosures. PH didn't give me a reason to do much after I had created a lake and a hill with some vegetation.

We'll see how they end up, but I'm not complaining in any case. Three dino park builders!

The people running Mesozoica are pretty sketchy. I can tell you for a fact that their artist/modeler is a narcissistic asshole. They always claim scientific accuracy, but when someone point out the flaws, he goes into an insane rant. He's harassed anyone that dares to offer an ounce of criticism. He's harassed me on Facebook before over some minor thing I pointed out.

They are in contact with paleontologists, but they leaked Dakotaraptor a few days before the dinosaur was officially published.

There are tons of other shit that I can't remember

"PRE RENDERED FOOTAGE"

Well thanks for clarifying, that totally isn't obvious

I actually thought they were previewing a new Jurassic Park movie when I saw this earlier.

So when I saw the 'prerendered' appear, I was like "Huh, no real dinos in this movie?" Pathetic.

When OG came out there was a lot of flack for it being too simple and I think a lot of people ignored it for that reason. I didn't give a fuck because it was fucking Jurassic Park and I could make my own. I would lose hours and hours to this game and, yes I do wish there was a little more depth to it, but I would still pick it up every six months or so.

The irony of the "simple" argument is that the creators actually put a ton of depth into dinosaur behaviors that no one noticed some times for months or even years later. People were making parks where dinosaurs could walk freely, including carnivores, and still not harm your customers. Or the fact that you could make almost any carnivore form a pack with other carnivores with the right loving attention.

That said since my PC hasn't been working much lately I am considering selling my happy if it seriously going for that much money LOL.

I have such nostalgia for OG. When I was 10 I remember my friend bringing his copy over and us building a dinosaur park together on my PS2.

Day 1 for me.

Yeah, we figured this stuff out long ago.

However, the actual building part wasn't very deep. All you do is build to solve your problems. There isn't a struggle for balance like in other good sims. Like if you build a vaccine, then the disease is completely eliminated. All you had to do was wait until you have enough money, and you'll solve all of the park's problems. It's too straight forward.

My only gripe is that it's the Jurassic World IP and not Jurassic Park.

I much prefer Jurassic Park because it had more of a recognizable theme to it (The building look, the jeeps etc) but something else i realized is that this being Jurassic World changes what this will be...and to me not really in a good way.

Jurassic Park was about a Dinosaur Zoo - the focus was on the Dinosaurs themselves with the typical zoo-like attractions. It was basically a dinosaur Safari.

Jurassic World, at least what i got the impression of from the movie, is more of "Here's a theme park island resort, but we have dinosaurs here as well!".

Maybe I've got it wrong as it's been a while since i watched any of the movies, but I much prefer the first idea of a Dinosaur Zoo rather than a Dinosaur-themed Resort.

After watching jurassic world it did felt that there was an awesome "theme" park there. From the balls to the water animals going through museums it really felt like a complete park while the original JP doesn't feel like a complete park.
All this said I really really wish the devs make both architectures possible or if needed have a DLC for the original JP feeling.

I just saw planet coster and it doesn't seem to have significant DLCs. I hope this game will be like CA or paradox , I hope that after release they keep adding islands, mechanics, dinos so that we can have the definite JP experience.

My one wish is for them to try adding non-builder elements.

Like if a tour vehicle or something gets stuck you can basically go save them as a ranger in a 3rd person type of thing.

I don't mind the World setting, it's more futuristic feeling though, but still cool. Really looking forward to this game! Hopefully it's got all sorts of fun content and some sort of campaign to play through, well challenges, as well as the normal sandbox modes.

From a movie perspective obviously I prefer Park. But Jurassic World is precisely what Jurassic Park needed to be if it was ever to be successful. It needed to be a resort with rides, stores, hotels. And from a game perspective, this also gives us a lot more freedom.

I hope they add in assets for Jurassic Park as well, I liked to look of the original park/visitors centre more than World.

Jurassic Park did have all of that FYI, they just didn't spend much time on it in the movie beyond the visitor center, some background details, other quick nods (Hammond implies they have rides, for example).

You're my kinda nerd.

*cough*

Awesome!

Never played a game like this. Once you build what else is there to do?

There is no "once you build" in a park simulator game. You continue expanding the park, demolishing rides that are not giving enough profit, changing the layout, researching new rides, killing all the guest, managing the cost of each item in every stall, managing your staff, their patrol route, their salary, train your staff, killing all the guest, research more stall and rides, spend 4 hours building a god damn toilet, and don't forget you can also kill the guest for fun.

anyway, is there a way i can download (buy) Operation Genesis digitally ?

Oh my God!

This looks legit, cannot wait.

I am so going to ruin everybodies day with a power cut. I hope we can unleash natural disasters to take out power and stuff, get some dinos running wild.

I hope there's a disaster menu ala SimCity2000, except instead of Earthquakes and Tornadoes, you have Raptor Outbreak and Rogue Children

I think I'm going to do what I've done in the old Zoo tycoon 2 expansions. Create a huge park and just suddenly, for no reason, several T. Rexes break loose. with the exit walled off
