Yakuza Kiwami 2 announcement leaked

We went from "doesn't resonate with fans" to dead silence to having Yakuza titles and remakes coming out in droves.

As any long time Yakuza fan would know, these times are to be cherished.

Fantastic news.

My man!
Club Sunshine was so amazing.
An amazing storyline as well as an amazing minigame.
Kiryu's real estate adventures were way worse in that regard because you do literally nothing but spend money to get money so you can spend it again to get more money, etc.
And you have to wait 5 minutes in between spending and earning money.
That was stupid.

Club Sunshine is where it's at! Best minigame in the game for sure.
Hell, I kept on doing that minigame well after finishing the quest just to level up all of my Platinum Gals. Just a lot of fun to do. The Sunshine Fever is real!

Can't wait to see those realistic tigers. Fur shading you just want to punch the shit out of.

Not even the best part about the remake.

I hope this gets localized, and that we also get a 3-5 PS4 collection that also gets localized! I'll buy everything. I already have 0 and Kiwami (preorder). Haven't played any of them yet but I really want to go deep in this series.

The way that he says it makes me believe that Kiwami 2 is not the biggest announcement tomorrow...

Is it too early for Yakuza 7 announcement?

No it is absolutely not.

I'm expecting multiple projects because SEGA needs a big seller to fill up their TGS booth.

There's certainly precent. I believe they announced Yakuza 6 and Yakuza: Kiwami at the same show at TGS. Would not be at all unbelievable for them to also announce the next Yakuza game (or maybe a new IP/project altogether?)

I am going to expect something totally ridiculous like a complete Yakuza reboot.

New characters, new clan, new city, disconnected 100% from past Yakuza games. Basically an entirely new universe.

When is the stream btw?

I feel like we're living the dream where people actually give a shit about Yakuza games now. Those bitter days are gone.

Are the announcements only Yakuza related or is there any chance for other Sega titles to be anounced too?
I see a lot of people mentioning BD2 but I'm not really sure about the stream's content.

It is a "Yakuza Studio livestream", not a "Yakuza series livestream". So there could be games from other series as long as they are made by YS.

It's a Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio presentation so Binary Domain 2 is certainly a possibility although I wouldn't count on it for the fact is failed miserably.

Wait what am I saying who cares were all dreamers now BINARY DOMAIN 2 HYYYPPPEEE!

Yakuza in space but still with samurai.

Fingers crossed that they're also working on a new IP. Rumors began swirling that they had a non-Yakuza project in the works a couple of years ago. I love this franchise but that studio is absurdly talented and I'd love to see what else they're capable of.

But from a story perspective does playing 2 first have any impact on how you enjoy 6?

2 and 6 do share some minor plot details, really not all that import in the grand scheme of 6's plot, more like a nod to the fans. You won't lose anything by playing 2 and 6 in either order.

In case anyone wondering regarding the plot point, its
that the Korean Mafia have a small roll in the plot. More of a foot note really, but still a cool nod. Oh, and the main man in the Korean Mafia you fight has a bloody awesome piece of music
.

DECEMBER

That means 3 new games in 2017 from one franchise. Jesus Christ

Can't wait to play kiwami then play this.

Now all I need is a 3,4,5 1080P 60FPS Collection and I'll be Gucci

It uses the Yakuza 6 engine, but it won't use yakuza 6's combat I presume ?

Yakuza: Dancing All Night.

They might tweak the moves you get in Kiwami 2 to fall more in line with the original game/Kiwami 1 but they'll most likely use 6's combat as the base. Just as long as they flesh it out I don't really care, what they had in 6 did feel damn good, and the inclusion of an actual physics engine was definitely appreciated!

I know gaf loves Yakuza to death but why ain't people raising their pitchforks over the "shameless milking" of the franchise at this point? the number of yakuza games being released recently is quite high and any other franchise would have been bashed to death if they had similar numbers. is it all about quality of the games? then would milking be excused if all games were good or do franchises still need a breather and why isn't Yakuza getting one? seems like an interesting discussion all things regarded.

The story and characters continue to grow. It's like a good long TV show.

Basically this. Characters and plots (major and minor) are reflected across the series and characters continue to grow as the games go on.
Gameplay wise its refined over and over as the series goes on. Yakuza 1 to Kiwami is an excellent example, since the first game is a bit rough round the edges now, and Kiwami has the benefit of taking the last 10 years worth of improvements and stuff them all in a remake.

Oh, and they are very fun. They avoid the usual issue I have with "open world" games by having a small area to explore, but densely pack it with entertaining activities to do. Plus side stories aren't repetitive "do X thing Y number of times" and instead has you interact with the rather odd residents of the red light district.

Well it's gonna be a while before I play 6 so would be cool so see how it's implemented, just wondering how fans will react if the combats changed completely from the standard when 2 is loved so much

Although from the minor bits I've seen of the physics in 6, and I love physics in fighters and shooters like FEAR etc, it would be great to see. Maybe somehow implement the physics into the 0 combat ?

2 Kiwami, 2 Furious

2 in the West, and only 1 in Japan most likely.

Forgot about localisation, but with the good sales of 0 and presumably/hopefully kiwami it should be quicker localisation then before ?
