Danganronpa V3 demo now available

So the demo doesn't spoil 1 & 2, right? I know it features returning characters, unlike V3 itself.

Well, the demo doesn't, yeah, but to clarify, I think you want to play 1 and 2 before V3 proper. I think it doesn't have returning characters and it's not a direct sequel but you'll need some context to fully enjoy it.

Not sure how to feel about the new characters yet. DR2 still has my favorite cast in the entire series cause it quickly did a good job making me love them all (or at least passionately hate them). Going back to DR1 kind of highlights how I didn't really care for much of that game's cast in comparison while DR2 is an emotional roller coaster because of how good the characters are and how they develop. I hope DRV3 can strike a similar note, but my first impressions of some of these characters are a little mixed and veer toward my opinion of the DR1 cast. Despite having the most unique designs of the series so far a lot of them feel a little one-note right now. Then again, this is a demo scenario so hopefully they can rectify it a little with the main game.

So far I only really like Kaede, Maki and Ryoma. Kirumi, Shuichi and Kaito might grow on me. Kokichi is interesting though I admit.

Music is sounding fabulous though and the presentation is pretty sleek.

You also get stuff in the full game for having save data from the demo, as well.

edit: didn't see someone already said it, but i guess it's worth repeating.

Started playing the demo on my Vita. The main thing that stands out right now is that the audio quality for the dub at least is complete garbage. Outside of Gonka likely being Kaiji Tang I can't tell who voices the new characters because the audio quality just sucks. I really hope this isn't what the full game will sound like.

I'm pretty sure the Vita version has significantly worse audio quality than the ps4 version and in the JP version there was an extra download to improve it.

Ugh that sucks. I think I'll be playing the demo again on my PS4 later today so I can have a better time figuring out the VA's at least.

Okay finally finished the demo.

Absolutely loved what I played. The new characters seem pretty great and the translation seems great too. The game's presentation feels well above 1 and 2 and I can't wait to try all the new gameplay stuff.

Preorder locked and loaded now to just wait a month.

Whatever you do, please don't watch the anime. It made me retroactively hate the entire series. I might try the demo to see if I can get over how bad the anime was and my near total lack of interest in V3.

it was fun while it was airing. All they did was just completely ruin the main villain of the series lol

As a result of this thread and trying to turn my vita on for the first time in months, I've discovered it no longer starts, nor seems to charge (the orange charging light comes on for maybe a second after being plugged it, but then turns off again).

Bugger.( I know I could just play the main game on ps4 when it releases but... I'm not playing a visual novel on tv! They're meant for in comfort in bed!).

PC demo supports up to 1080P and 4K resolutions, but no 1440P since I don't see it listed, which is weird. It also seems to not have 21:9 support, which is expected but a shame. Pretty much same as DR1 and 2.

Leave it plugged in, if it's completely drained it takes about 45 minutes of charging before it turns on. It should be blinking orange every now and then. Orange for a second, then blan, then orange for a second, then blank, so on.

How important is Ultra Despair Girls to the plot of V3 (not the demo)? I marathoned 1 & 2 but have yet to play UDG.

Ultra despair girls bridges 1/2 , but I think v3 is supposed to be set in an alternative universe.

Of course, that could have been utter lies from the marketing team.

Superb demo. Felt fun to play a mock investigation and trial. The minigames aren't trash this time either.

UDG is the game that takes place betweet 1 & 2.

V3 is new story so you don't need to have played any of the others. For closure on the storyline of the previous games watch the Danganronpa 3 anime.

I'll give V3 demo a shot, but it'll have to blow my mind to convince me to buy the full game instead of YouTubing it. DR1 and especially 2 were a chore to play.

Like, I am so confused by all of this demo!

I know it's going to become clear soon (I hope) but...

first 10 minutes of the Demo spoilers

Billed as a new cast but with Makoto and Hajime showing up... my need to binge this game is just being made so much worse!

I'm glad I didn't go anywhere near the spin off game and the anime if this is the reaction to both of those. The series has been really consistent for me so far, quite a big fan (of both the developer and the series), so I'm really looking forward to V3.

I'll be going Vita with it though, just for old time's sake.
