Played it for about 2 hours now and I love it. Alomost like the X-Com lite I always wanted. And the small deatails are great like flowers in the background moving to the music etc.

I hate Ubi games, I hate the rabbits - but this is a good game :)

Man, this comment is alright untill the last sentence

What this forum have against Ubisoft is really buffeling and puzzling

Great OT! Can't wait to try this out tomorrow. I've been craving a solid, single-player experience on Switch and this looks to be a perfect fit. Hopefully it can hold me over until Mario Odyssey.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
Been watching vid reviews and I assumed I would just grab this when I try to buy a Switch when Odyssey hits, but now I am starving to play this ASAP and no Switch's are in stock.

Looks pretty cool. I wish the rabbids weren't in it though, I'd be way more hyped without them.

I think we might be in the minority but I too am not found of the rabbids. I still want to try the game though after learning it's very xcom.

I don't like rabbids at all but I'm sure as hell not gonna let it stop me from playing what looks like a dope ass mario strategy rpg

Ugh mine should be waiting for me today when I get off work! Wish there was more info on the coop? Love to play this with my son.

Managed to put in a nice bit of time this weekend, although I played it alone first then my kid made me do the whole intro again so he could watch haha. The production values for this game are ridiculous. The graphics are so nice, all the nice little details and flourishes in the backgrounds, birds and bees passing by, rabbids getting up to mischief over yonder. The music is a delight too. Wonderful, I can't wait to dig in to the actual combat more. Feels like Ubi really stepped it up and matched towards Nintendo's own level here.

Honestly, if I didn't know the Rabbids were an existing IP, I'd just think they're great new Mario characters with a unique sense of humor. They seem very well-implemented here, with the hero Rabbids being especially lovable.

Speaking about a way to bypass eShop regional restrictions to get the game early is frowned upon ?

I was under the impression you just make a new account and set it to the appropriate region. Entire threads have existed to explain how to buy games cheaper in other markets, I would find it a bit weird if explaining how buy from another market just to get it earlier would be frowned upon.

Also, why no versus mode?! Enjoying the game so far.

I'm less surprised by the Rabbids + Mario team-up these days but have been getting more and more intrigued by the choice to go for an XCOM style combat system when combining these two series that both don't have any ties to tactical combat. Did the devs ever comment on this choice? Was there any history with similar games within the team perhaps?

Having just completed XCOM: Enemy Within and having just started playing XCOM 2, I am definitely more interested in this game because of the combat, even despite the Rabbids I have to admit.

The creative director, Davide Soliani (the one who famously cried tears of joy when his idol Miyamoto honored him at the E3 presser), is a huge fan of XCOM and other tactics games. He had ideas for a tactics game featuring Mario and Rabbids, and this appealed to Miyamoto when he pitched it since Miyamoto's one rule was "Don't make a jump game." He wanted something Mario hasn't done before. So it was a perfect combination of factors. Soliani got to make a game with the brand that got him into videogames (Mario) as well as a game in one of his favorite genres (XCOM-style tactics), and with the creative liberties afforded by the Rabbids. Dream come true for the guy. :)
