Release initial story, hold back some bits until respected parties comment (Trump Jr., Cohen), then release more information undercutting initial response.

Going down the rabbit hole of absolute, worst case scenario, what are the chances that as this case progresses, the lives of these attorneys will be in danger? We have a lot of Russian ambassadors mysteriously popping up dead, is there a chance the same thing could happen as a result of "sheer, tragic, unpredictable misfortune" to the people on this case? Could Mueller be found floating face down in a pool he doesn't own, with drugs he didn't take, and a heart condition he was never previously diagnosed with?

Worked in the years past.

At his sentencing hearing, several FBI officials vouched for Sater’s help. He got his biggest endorsement in January 2015 when Loretta Lynch was asked at her Senate confirmation hearing for U.S. attorney general why court records had been sealed in the fraud case.

Sater had secretly worked with federal prosecutors and the FBI for more than 10 years, “providing information crucial to national security and the conviction of over 20 individuals, including those responsible for committing massive financial fraud and members of La Cosa Nostra” — the Mafia — according to Lynch, who had served as U.S. attorney in the Eastern District in New York.

Mainly talking about his past, he was a former FBI informant in order to get off from Jail time with working for the Russian Mafia, was an informant from 1998 to 2009 where he eventually got off with nothing more then a 25k fine. It was part of a guilty plea deal.

I'd like to believe even the staunchest Trump-diddling republican will view that as an outright act of war.

I'd like to believe a lot of things though...

The media is kind of busy with Texas. It isn't going away, though. Mueller and some of the decent intel/judiciary/oversight committees aren't going to turn a blind eye to it.

For those who don't know...

It's not just the money, the whole system Putin set up to stay in power relies on his trusted oligarchs and state cronies being able to operate their businesses with impunity, sucking money out of the Russian economy and into foreign assets.

If he can't guarantee their financial freedom and immunity from persecution, his hold on the country crumbles which is why the Magnistky Act and similar measures in other countries hurt him so badly. Bill Browder testified to this recently before the US Senate.

If Mueller makes a compelling case that Trump is effectively a Russian agent placed in the highest office by clandestine interference, that by itself is an act of warfare. There are no good outcomes here.

It's just a myth that 'lots' of taxpayer money is being spent on this investigation. It's literally like rounding error money. No offense intended.

He could fire Rosenstein and work his way down through Rosenstein's automatic successors until one agrees to fire Mueller.

It won't go well for him. This investigation isn't going away. Fire Mueller and somebody else will inherit it, but the pressure on Trump will only mount the more he obstructs. All evidence will be preserved.
