Trump assoc. Sater attempts quid pro quo arrangement with RU for Trump Tower Moscow

This immediatly undercuts Cohen's response to the Sater story.

On one hand, it was all puffery and nothing moved forward, on the other we have more emails from Cohen moving the ball forward.

Release initial story, hold back some bits until respected parties comment (Trump Jr., Cohen), then release more information undercutting initial response.

I like this.

Donald Trump sold out our country for a building permit in Moscow.

All the treason, hacking, money-laundering, meddling... all of it was for a real estate deal.

Another fucking EGO TOWER.

They're being telegraphed and they are in too deep and/or too dumb to stop it.

This is getting to be some Road Runner stuff.

Yep. This is the case of their lives ( and of the country ) these people are patriotic as fuck

Going down the rabbit hole of absolute, worst case scenario, what are the chances that as this case progresses, the lives of these attorneys will be in danger? We have a lot of Russian ambassadors mysteriously popping up dead, is there a chance the same thing could happen as a result of "sheer, tragic, unpredictable misfortune" to the people on this case? Could Mueller be found floating face down in a pool he doesn't own, with drugs he didn't take, and a heart condition he was never previously diagnosed with?

He was an FBI informant while trying to broker a deal with Russia? How does this even work?

Worked in the years past.

At his sentencing hearing, several FBI officials vouched for Sater’s help. He got his biggest endorsement in January 2015 when Loretta Lynch was asked at her Senate confirmation hearing for U.S. attorney general why court records had been sealed in the fraud case.

Sater had secretly worked with federal prosecutors and the FBI for more than 10 years, “providing information crucial to national security and the conviction of over 20 individuals, including those responsible for committing massive financial fraud and members of La Cosa Nostra” — the Mafia — according to Lynch, who had served as U.S. attorney in the Eastern District in New York.

Should have added that part.

Mainly talking about his past, he was a former FBI informant in order to get off from Jail time with working for the Russian Mafia, was an informant from 1998 to 2009 where he eventually got off with nothing more then a 25k fine. It was part of a guilty plea deal.

I'd like to believe even the staunchest Trump-diddling republican will view that as an outright act of war.

I'd like to believe a lot of things though...

When rats are done ratting and earn their time off, they go right back to organized crime. It's who they are.

Is this gaining any traction?

The media is kind of busy with Texas. It isn't going away, though. Mueller and some of the decent intel/judiciary/oversight committees aren't going to turn a blind eye to it.

No deals with Russia, sometimes people might buy a condo.

By the way, I would say, I don’t — I don’t — I mean, it’s possible there’s a condo or something, so, you know, I sell a lot of condo units, and somebody from Russia buys a condo, who knows? I don’t make money from Russia. In fact, I put out a letter saying that I don’t make — from one of the most highly respected law firms, accounting firms. I don’t have buildings in Russia. They said I own buildings in Russia. I don’t. They said I made money from Russia. I don’t. It’s not my thing. I don’t, I don’t do that. Over the years, I’ve looked at maybe doing a deal in Russia, but I never did one. Other than I held the Miss Universe pageant there eight, nine years

A pittance is being spent on this investigation. Trumps excessive vacations cost us more. If we wants to save money he can dial back his travel budget to Obama levels.

I wasn't comparing the cost of the investigation to the expenses associated with Trump's trips or security detail. Really not even sure how you came to that conclusion.

Four months into his campaign for president of the United States, Donald Trump signed a “letter of intent” to pursue a Trump Tower-style building development in Moscow, according to a statement from the then-Trump Organization Chief Counsel Michael Cohen.

The involvement of then-candidate Trump in a proposed Russian development deal contradicts repeated statements Trump made during the campaign, including telling ABC News Chief Anchor George Stephanopoulos in July 2016 that his business had “no relationship to Russia whatsoever.”...

Cohen specifically says in his statement that Trump was told three times about the Moscow proposal.

“To the best of my knowledge, Mr. Trump was never in contact with anyone about this proposal other than me on three occasions, including signing a non-binding letter of intent in 2015,” his statement says.

This is a pretty big story.

Two fun tidbits.

1. One of the lawyers who worked the case where Sater flipped (Andrew Weissmann) is now working for Mueller's investigation. http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2017/06/trump-felix-sater-andrew-weissman/

2. Weismann once personally convinced a witness who had already flipped in one case, to leave witness protection and testify in another case: http://tucsoncitizen.com/morgue2/2001/06/30/177025-gravano-pleads-guilty-to-dealing-with-drugs/

Just wish the media would pick up on it.

Everyone will pick up on it. Just it is a lot of news especially with a deadly hurricane in Texas. Give it time.

Most likely for Trump to overturn the Maginstky Act so Putin could access the $200 billion he laundered in offshore accounts that got frozen due to the act.

For those who don't know...

It's not just the money, the whole system Putin set up to stay in power relies on his trusted oligarchs and state cronies being able to operate their businesses with impunity, sucking money out of the Russian economy and into foreign assets.

If he can't guarantee their financial freedom and immunity from persecution, his hold on the country crumbles which is why the Magnistky Act and similar measures in other countries hurt him so badly. Bill Browder testified to this recently before the US Senate.

I'd like to believe even the staunchest Trump-diddling republican will view that as an outright act of war.

I'd like to believe a lot of things though...

If Mueller makes a compelling case that Trump is effectively a Russian agent placed in the highest office by clandestine interference, that by itself is an act of warfare. There are no good outcomes here.

It's just a myth that 'lots' of taxpayer money is being spent on this investigation. It's literally like rounding error money. No offense intended.

He has to fire Sessions first.

He could fire Rosenstein and work his way down through Rosenstein's automatic successors until one agrees to fire Mueller.

It won't go well for him. This investigation isn't going away. Fire Mueller and somebody else will inherit it, but the pressure on Trump will only mount the more he obstructs. All evidence will be preserved.
