MH+Switch you were the chosen one! You were supposed to save Japanese gaming, not leave it in darkness (loli mobile gacha games)!

Now, how many weeks before it catches up to PS4 version, then 3DS version ?

Mid to late September at this rate.

Up to 65% attach rate on M-C without digital, first Switch million seller in Japan.

What would people expect if MHXX Switch released a few months earlier? 400k-500k FW? 800k-1000k LTD?

Personally I think if it was released before the MHW announcement/summer holiday MHXX on the Switch could have passed 500K this year.

Is it worth speculating on a new Switch baseline, or is it likely the uptick is mostly monhun bundles?

Probably a combination of bundles and some stock being moved back/forward from last week.

So the baseline should be higher than last week but the question is how much.

The baseline is basically "whatever Nintendo can ship" instead of a demand issue, so it's unlikely to be static.

Well I assume he's asking about the baseline for shipments, since that's obviously what is limiting sales.

People need to understand that being disappointed in these sales doesn't mean that we were expecting a bazillion units sold on FW if better releases conditions were met. It sold bad, even for a late release.

It's a late port of a game that already came out this year.

Doesnt change the fact that its a frigging monster hunter game in hd on a console that is all the rage in japan.

Hd ports dont have too much trouble selling on switch, even if some of it could be attributed a relatively smaller library to choose from.and this still applies to monhun... Expected way more tbh..
I dont want capcom to be getting retarded messages from this

01./00. [NSW] Monster Hunter Double Cross: Nintendo Switch Ver. # <ACT> (Capcom) {2017.08.25} (¥5.800) - 84.277 / NEW

Overpriced 40$ Street Fighter 2 port sells half a million, while in other consoles you only pay like 3$.

Capcom:........

Ports late MH Switch game which is an uprezzed 3ds port while also announcing a much better MH game on the way for PS4. Does Poorly.

Capcom: Welp sorry guys, the Switch failed the test. I'm afraid we can't see this as a viable platform anymore.

I don't know how it means something positive. Game did terrible overall.

Depends on BN's view. It selling more on Switch despite the far smaller install base might be encouraging as a new game could do well on both systems (or even more on Switch like here) for example. It's a port of a port, so I doubt expectations are high.

Fiendcode posted in the last Media Create Thread:

"Unconfirmed Capcom targets:

Switch
Monster Hunter XX: 300,000 to 500,000
"

So if it has decent legs it can reach Capcom's expectations (which are usually too high)

I'd agree with that assessment.

It could also have beaten Splatoon to market if they just got it ready earlier, and been the main 'serious' (not Kart) multiplayer game on the system for a while.

That number was made up yet people keep posting it lol

I wouldn't. It's still a late port and it would have been impacted heavily by the fact there were only around 800k switch sold in Japan by start of May.

I was thinking the same. Splatoon 2 is going to cannibalize some other games sales for a while

When the "selling more" is a couple of thousand copies and it sold peanuts on either platform, I'm not sure it will affect anything.

Hopefully western sales pull a bit more weight, not like it released on any timely relevant platform over here.

I must say I am loving the Switch out of stock back in stock rodeo haha.

Nice boost for the console but a shame for Monster Hunter.

You frequent these threads often. Why are you even tossing out 500k FW?
No one in their right mind would expect that. Not even in a world where MHW didn't exist.
Umm. Do you know what the Switch userbase is in Japan?
I'll admit it, those numbers were a bit hyperbole :p But i'm curious what people think could be done differently to really make a big difference, and what was expected if those things had been done.

cw_sasuke

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Sales pretty much at the level we expected. Good to see those Switch hardware numbers.

So are bundles included?
Meh...
Can't wait for the huge support capcom is going to offer after seeing those numbers
lol

This is a late port of a G Version of a game that already had trouble selling on the 3DS. There is a reason why this release isn't part of Capcoms financial forecast.

No way. Userbase too low. If it were an upgraded tri, g, u version maybe. Plain port of game released this year, which is itself an upgrade of another upgrade released recently? Nah

Was it? Thanks for letting me know.

Where did it originally come from? Anyone reliable or just pulled from someone's ass?
It came from an investment firm after meeting with Capcom. We don't know where the target originated though, at Capcom or the analyst.

It's not "bullshit made up" anyway.

It would have beaten MH3U at least for sure.
Should and could have been there for launch like this one.

Good deal. Thanks

It is worth mentioning then IMO if it came from that source.

The point I was agreeing with was 500k LTD (well, this year but close enough), not at launch. I reckon it could have hit 200k FW if it was announced along with the 3DS version and hit in April, then had momentum to get to a better total.

I don't know what you expect in MHXX port. It's already owned by just about every people there, granddads included. Had Capcom released this close to Switch launch or together with the 3DS version, only the Switch hardware stock is the limit.
